We love hearing you guys plan your trips and talk about the current/tides/weather/wind and all of the other factors when boating. We miss being boat buddies and absorbing all of your knowledge as we’re newbie boaters. ⛵️🛥🐶🐶
I am actually considering bringing back the 1 minute marina reviews in shorts format! Since we now have more water storage and a watermaker we are finding we aren't staying in marinas as often any more (like less than twice a month) but I think when we do I'm going to do them as shorts!
I actually have been planning to do this in the near future! I’ve been taking footage for it but just haven’t sat down and put it together! I’ll try to get it toward the top of the queue soon!
If you are east bound (buzzards bay to cape cod bay), you will want to enter the canal at low tide according to the buzzard bay tide station. The current will start slightly against you and then change quickly to be with you in that scenario. We actually just made this trip again yesterday (May 2023) and left Onset at low tide, we had .5 knot against us for the first 15 minutes and by the time we left the canal at the east end we had 2.5-3 knots with us.
The train bridge is open unless there is a train. No need to call. If it’s down it will open shortly. You’ll want to listen to vhf channel 13 before you enter the canal and they will announce closures.
