Most incredible thing I've ever seen! Chasing the shadow of the moon for 24 extra seconds of totality at 200 MPH!
Where I get all my MUSIC -- goo.gl/D3h3fC
Huge thanks to and additional cinematography by David Spiegel (dspiegelmedia.com / / d_spiegel .
My camera and lenses graciously loaned by Philip Greenspun (philip.greenspu...)
Come along on a last minute flight to Athens, TN to fly along the path of totality and watch #eclipse2017 from the plane. Coolest thing I've ever seen from the air, and watching from a cockpit provides the most unique perspective of Eclipse 2017. Pilots sure have it good!
We flew VFR down to avoid any delays, got traffic advisories to stay safe during the eclipse, and went IFR on the way home, stopping at KPKB for dinner before dodging some thunderstorms near NY.

I've been flying since I was 16 and at age 19 flew around the world by myself in the same 1981 A36 Beechcraft Bonanza I still fly, becoming the youngest person ever to solo circumnavigate by aircraft.
Now, I'm sharing all kinds of aviation adventures with YOU! Ride along as we explore the world from the air and get a close up look at some of aviation's best flight experiences and destinations. I'm aiming to share the most immersive aviation content you've ever seen (and always complete with cockpit/ATC audio) and showcase the utility of general aviation with some awesome GA travel vlogs as well.

I've been watching Matt's vlogs for awhile, it's cool to see Matt flying around the world with Louise and JP in JP's Cessna. Just watched the video of the trio landing in Scotland. That Bonanza looks roomier inside compared to the Cessna, but maybe it's because the Cessna is packed with all kinds of survival equipment in the rare case of an emergency.

Just curious here and I'm sure you are probably going to know what I'm about to ask......do you actually use a checklist? I'm watching most of your videos and I haven't seen you use one yet??
@kenthouseholder8727
@kenthouseholder8727 6 лет назад
And using a bike pump for air in the tires wasn’t a good idea either. Tires need to be filled with pure nitrogen to prevent rot. I feel this kid is taking too many liberties with his piloting sometimes. I hope it doesn’t but if he keeps pushing the rules it will bite him. Aviation is no place for complacency. Check list and proper maintenance is paramount. No exceptions.
@JeffS96
@JeffS96 5 лет назад
Certain large commercial aircraft tires are filled with Nitrogen because it's an inert gas and less likely to create dangerous gas compounds in the tire which could lead to tire fires/explosions. There do not appear to be any regulations governing what is used in small private aircraft, and I'd be willing to bet that the stress a Bonanza puts on its tires is significantly less than that of a 737. So Oxygen is probably less of a safety concern in this particular application. Unless aircraft tires are very different from automotive tires, the rot of a tire is going to occur from the outside more than the inside due to the exposure to the elements and sunlight. At the end of the day you should monitor the manufacture date of any tire on any type of vehicle and ensure you replace them before the age of the tire is old enough for rot to become an issue.

Parkersburg is where I learned to fly back in the 80’s, yes I’m that old. I was working a long term project there. I remember my instructor being the most disgusting human being I have ever met. I was training in a Piper Warrior and if the instructor wasn’t belching he was farting. That was all the motivation I needed to solo. If you ever get back there, see if the North End Tavern is still around. They had the best loaded cheeseburger I’ve ever had. I haven’t had one as good since.

We drove to a small town in Nebraska, and the experience on the ground was REALLY INTERESTING! The typical insects (mosquitos, cicadas. etc.) all came out as if it was dusk even though it was the middle of the day. CRAZY!

Awesome! I did the same thing in a Beechjet with a couple of friends. Flew the approach in the weird dim lighting about 5 minutes to totality and then shutdown with just enough time to get the camera out. Unreal experience!

Why is there a big Rod coming out of the center of your flat panel that is attached to the yolk? What's the yolk originally in the center and it has been extended to the left?
@brucel4677
@brucel4677 6 лет назад
Called a "throw over yoke." It's on a central hub where you can pivot the single yoke over to the co-pilot side. Many Bonanzas feature these yokes. Matt seemingly does not respond to questions.

6:00 That happened to us in Carbondale, IL. Not sure if it was related to the temperature drop or if we just had some bad luck, but it was clear until 10 min before totality and was clear 10 min after totality, but in between those 22 minutes and 30 some odd seconds, we had clouds. Not enough to completely miss it, but it was obscured for a bit.

whats the useful load like for this aircraft? On the bonanza website they sell brand new G36's with this fancy 6 seat config but only a usefull load of 1000lbs... barely more than a c172 how can you possibly fit 6 people in there?
@brucel4677
@brucel4677 6 лет назад
We see him preflight the airplane, but no mention of weight and balance. And Bonanzas have CG issues as they burn fuel. I caught this same issue in several of his videos. He has to be over gross with 5 passengers, baggage and full fuel. I would be hesitant to fly with him.

Hope that in the future you can make a video about how you purchased and/or upgraded the avionics for your A36 Bonanza. Most pilots are attracted to the concept of aircraft ownership but that topic seems to be lacking here on YT specially for single piston airframes. Thanks!
