Additional Comments:
Chaweng is the main nightlife area of Koh Samui so that was where I based myself for my first visit. This footage was taken towards the end of the high season.
On this trip it was around the time of the 'half moon party' so that accounts for some of the bars not being as busy as normal (so I was told).

23:49 , it's totally normal for a A-3xx Familly, we (pilot) call it "The Barking Dog" or "The Ghost ChainSaw" i try to make it simple : Flight controls, brakes and steering systems (among others), are powered by hydraulic systems on aircraft. Those hydraulic systems operate under pressure, some 3,000 psi. the A3xx (A318 - A319 - A320 - A321) family has three independent hydraulic systems. The hydraulic systems are normally pressurized by pumps. For redundancy, the aircraft has alternative ways to pressurize those systems, including electric pumps, a ram air turbine (a little propeller that drops out of the side of the fuselage if needed) and the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). It’s the PTU that makes the barking noise. It transfers hydraulic pressure from one of the systems to the other when there is a measurable pressure difference, 500 psi. between the two. When the pressure drops, the PTU kicks in. The PTU is located near the main landing gear, and that’s why passengers can hear the noise seemingly coming from mid-way down the aisle, under the floor. The barking happens most frequently at the gate and taxi, where most aircraft will run only one engine to save fuel. With one engine off, that engine doesn’t provide power the pump to provide hydraulic pressure in one of the systems. The PTU balances the hydraulic pressure between the two hydraulic systems, and goes on and off as it does so. that's why ^^ I generalized but I hope I was understanding for everyone. I thinks it's the most asked question about the Airbus Familly with the "little hole in the windows" and "the yellow froggy eye on the wings" :)

I love Koh Samui & it's unique airport! Couldn't help but notice the young couple trying to push their way down the aisle of the plane after landing! Don't they know how to relax! Maybe some time on Samui will chill them out a bit!

I’ve been flying with Bangkok Airways since the early 2000’ and was always satisfied. Even if prices are higher you get premium quality. Unfortunately the lounges are always crowded since meanwhile everybody knows that they can be used for free. Two years ago we had a mechanical failure after departure from BKK to Samui but the situation was handled professionally and we changed planes after returning to BKK.

Back when the B was 70 to the £, happy days , Bangkok Airway were doing 3 or 6 flights for a set price . Took 6 , if I remember rightly Samui worked out at somewhere between a third and half price . That package has got to rank as one of the best travel deals I've had .

I agree as I heard that noise often and I found the reply on aviation web site: You hear this most often on Airbus 320 series aircraft although others can make a similar noise for similar reasons. The aircraft has two redundant hydraulic systems, each one is pressurized by one of the engines. In the case where one engine has stopped, its related hydraulic system will start to lose pressure. It is a good idea to try to keep this system pressurized so there is a pressure transfer unit (PTU) that uses excess pressure generated by the still running engine to pump up the unpowered system. This is done through a mechanical linkage so there is no risk that a leak in one system could drain fluid or pressure from the other system. On Airbus 320s this PTU is quite loud. Normally one only hears it during the startup and shutdown procedure since it's only at these times that only one engine is running. If you were on a flight where an engine failed you would hear this noise throughout the flight.

Hell is that expensive for that short flight! Over 300 Dollar, wow. I went 10 years ago to there and i think i payd not that much..? But the Airport is that sweet small there, and the open transfer busses with all that nice views gives me that much holiday feelings when i went to there. The arc bar looks also like a cool new place to stay. Is the airport louge new? I think i never found them.. only 6 month ahead for my own holidays, huuu...

Unless you want to go Pha-Nhan (full moon party), Phuket is better in most aspects, not to mention it's not very far from Krabi, Phi Phi, Phang-Nga bay and dozens of gorgeous surrounding islands and beaches. Also, the airfare can be much cheaper with budget airlines since the airport is not exclusive to Bangkok Airways.

Yep taxi at samui airport are a rip off if I fly bkk airways I normally walk out of the airport and get a taxi half the price still expensive but better than 500b if you have time fly air Asia to samui it involves a flight,van and ferry it takes longer but for about the same price for one with bkk airways 2 can get return to samui and the ferry trip is great imo

Well this truly doesn't show how bad Bangkok airways are! They charge 3-4X the price of other airlines, have old dirty planes, crap food and often unfriendly staff. I prefer to take the long way around. Don Mueng - Surat Thani, then catch the boat across to Samui. It takes about an hour longer but it's a nicer more scenic journey and Nok Air or Thai Lion are much nicer airlines too.
@stefanbeck2052
@stefanbeck2052 6 лет назад
What!!! More like 5 hours it’s 1 hour at least to the ferry from the airport, at least half hour wait for ferry then nearly 2 hours on the ferry into Nathon then 30 minutes into Chaweng etc. Not even close add to that if you are flying into Suvanabhum you have to get to Don Meuang. Mate did it recently Samui to Suvanabuhm 9 hours. BKK air 2 hours max.

Good airline. But price not justified. I know Samui airport is meant to be owned or semi owned by them. But 4 5 or 6 thousand bht one way ticket is a joke. Samui is nice but not that special. Plus you can't drink alcohol on their flight. Food is just standard. But you do get access to the lounge with an economy ticket. But only minimal food and drink selection.
