Job well done. I tried to buy this car (as we were only interested in mystic blue or carbon black), but the PO said a deposit was placed on it. I liked the BMW dealer maintenance single-owner. It would have been sight unseen and shipped. Now that I see how much work went and effort went into it. I'm glad I didn't get it. I bought a different one, and it's certainly not cheap to bring it up to higher standards...new clutch, Vanos etc. That said, these cars are so much fun to rip around with the top down. Nothing quite like it with 4 legit seats.

Thank you for the kind words, Tim - it definitely had some amazing qualities at the time from a far, but quite a few interesting cosmetic issues. I’m sure it was a lot more fun to watch from an outside perspective 😂 When it’s all said and done though- some of the best cars for the money, and if restored properly can bring/keep solid values 🔥

@@KyleSulkar Agree. I do recall this being priced very well considering others in the market at the time. I had some serious FOMO seeing the prices jump, coupled that with missing out on a couple of amazing craigslist finds we just decided to try to stop checking the boxes and grab what we liked. Overpaid but love every drive I see from your channel you've gone through a few of these. I'd love to know your tips on keeping the joints in tops lubed and running squeak free. What kind of lubes (lithium/silcone etc), and where you are hitting them.

But to be honest for being a 1 owner car it wasn't taken care of at all like you stated in the video however Kudos to you for saving the beast

As far as maintenance goes, it definitely was. Cosmetically for being a New York car I feel like the exterior condition comes with the territory- most of the value on these cars is within how well it was mechanically taken care of as its considerably more expensive to fix. Thank you for watching!

67k New York miles is equivalent to 287k normal miles. :) Good call on the complete respray.

Hahah, from a cosmetic perspective you are definitely right. I think the abundance of previous maintenance was really necessary + a fresh set of wheels and tires. Officially de-new Yorked 😂 Thanks so much for watching!!
