Been watching your videos for awhile now! To my surprise I was exiting the plane in SNA and saw you at the cockpit! I said something like “BigErn!” and you acknowledged me back! It was so cool that you were one of the pilots for our flight! My wife later asked me how I know who you are haha! I said I watch him on RU-vid! 😎great flight and I actually filmed the take off from PVR-SNA as we sat in the seats. Let me know how to send it to you if you’re interested from my view! I too am a Phoenix Southwest employee and I love your videos! It’s interesting to see the job from a pilot’s perspective but I can’t deny that I love that Cirrus almost as much as the 737!

Ernie…I am a million miler on a different airline and well over that in total career miles from my corporate roles over the years. While I rarely fly Southwest, I have immense respect for your profession (pilots and flight attendants). I simply fit better into a model with first class upgrades given my travel frequency. That said, I love your videos and find your passion infectious. I am confident you deserve the upgrade to captain and that you will serve with distinction. Southwest is lucky to have you. Well done!

Hey Ern, I just finished sims on the CRJ. Really excited to climb into the jet for the first time, but you guys keep hiring our LCAs away so it's a long wait for IOE! We have less than 40 LCAs at my regional now (Down from 130 a few months ago) Haha... I don't blame ya, but dang I'm looking forward to earning the experience needed to one day stand in front of a recruiter like yourself. Really enjoy your content, sir! Also, CONGRATS ON UPGRADE! I'm sure it will feel good to get back in the PIC seat.

Im proud to announce im flying Southwest in less than 2 weeks! Super excited not only because its my first time w/ southwest but also its my first time on a Boeing aircraft (and to make it even more better its a max 8)
I am old. The last time I flew into PVR was on a Mexicana 727. There were no taxi-ways at the airport, we had to back-taxi to the terminal. No jetways and no baggage carts either. Baggage and cargo was handled by a farm tractor pulling a hay wagon. This was 1983, we went there on our honeymoon. Did I say I was old?

On the LA F.O Sheet, does a -14 mean that they are short 14 F.Os or does it mean that they have 14 too many FOs and they need to reposition those guys to other bases?

Fingers crossed. Contemplating my upgrade myself.. we just had our results from our most recent bid released yesterday. I can hold now 75/76 Captain in my base. Life is good as a senior FO though. I’m keeping my options open.
Congrats on upgrade Captain! Great videos as always. Not sure if your views would like to see, if you tour dispatch and they explain their job. All the different jobs required to get a plane in the air. I think most people would be surprised.

Also a quick question what are your thoughts on the Destination 225 program. I want to apply soon but couldn’t find anything on people actually doing the training and also if I get chosen and go through will Southwest prefer me over someone that didn’t go through the school? Again congrats earning that 4th strip!!
