Hello Ignacio! That’s a solid radio also I have one that doesn’t get used much. 73, thanks for watching and subscribing!

It appears that you are in the north end of the west side of the Animas valley. Some very, very good years were spent, by me, living on the southwest end of that same valley. Great choice to “drop anchor” and spend some time! Best, KQ4IXD

Yes Sir! I was at Hermosa Acres about 10 miles north of Downtown Durango, right off of US-550. I absolutely love it out there. My goal is to move that way someday.

@@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors I left there in 1983 - thought it’d for 2-3 years. At 74, I still have one move left in me - and the North Animas valley would be one I’d go for - if…Good Luck on following your idea!

Yes sir! I heard you also and was trying to get in but the pass was too low at that point. It was at 3.5 degrees for me when you came on and I was looking straight through trees at that point. I really need to get my tower up

Nice video… I’m thinking about getting into this niche of ham radio. Just curious how you log these contacts. Do you record everything and then go back and log from the recording?

Awesome! Join the community it's a feeling like no other I have found in ham radio. I go back and listen to the recordings then log anything I hear as a confirmed QSO. Even if you do not post to RU-vid, you should record your portable passes. It makes a huge difference in the experience. You can worry about operating everything and getting the info right, then go back and the exchange info from the recording. First, I put the contact in QRZ, then later manually enter them into LOTW. LOTW has a tendency to change the grid you are in with A QRZ transfer I have found. I have had to go back and fix hundreds of LOTW mess-ups.

@@W0CYC-HamRadioEndeavors Thanks for answering… I have made a few contacts through the ISS repeater and logged them to QRZ and LOTW. I used the voice recorder on my iPhone but I didn’t know if that was the best way to do it. I already have the Icom 2730a but use it as a base radio. I might pick up another with that arrow antenna. My previous contacts was with a 5 watt ht and a homemade tape measure antenna. They work but I would like to upgrade

Awesome!!! It’s definitely worth the upgrade. Here’s a link to the setup I use for portable. It sounds like you are well on your way! Call me up if you hear me on a pass!
