We fly her only from grass (I have ordered 6 for me and the guys of the club xD) and our grass wasn´t the best. She does a super job! You had a lot of turbulences! Flying with strong wind although I have installed now a reflex isn´t so much enjoying as calm evenings. Best regards from south east Bavaria, Germany..
Thank you for the great video and explanation, Brian. I just ordered one myself. I think I've reached the skill level where I can fly an EDF ducted fan airplane now. 😊 After watching your plane flying videos, I got really into RC aviation, and I've become quite good at it now (believe or not hahaha) 😅
The filming was awesome as always! The contrast with those clouds ☁️ and keeping that Sunday with futura on top in focus while it was zipping around like that was masterful! #stayepic
That's definitely a great looking jet. I love that sound, it's sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing Brian, and thanks to camera crew for the great hands. 👍👍👍
Nice unboxing and maiden flights ! That last dead stick landing was scary, but this bird and of course your pilots skills moving the flap switch over and over while commenting rescued her from a well possible hard crash :) I will try mine on the smaller 2200 batteries but also some bigger ones as my 3300 if CG is OK. I don´t want that dead stick to happen xD I have also a 6S Avanti fromFMS (V1) and a lot of 6S batteries too, but this bird seems easier to fly and I have a lot of 4S batts too :D Cheers!
Don’t know why you push your packs that hard. ? It’s a 3 to 3 & 1/2 minute EDF bird , pushing past that take way more throttle management. Put. SMC racing 2800 mAh 75c Li HV pack in it and you will definitely see a difference in power and flight time. Pulling the nose up with full flaps down will cause that stall around 2 minutes in. Glad you saved it. I’ll probably order one soon. Thanks for showing how it comes out of the box . As always…enjoyed the flights.
Glad you enjoyed the video! As for the "stall" at 2:00 - that was actually some cross wind causing the wings to attempt to fight, and they just didn't have the airflow to accomplish. I could have had something to do with it, of course, but I don't think I did. Seemed like the AS3X was over-correcting. I watched and re watched that clip. I've had a lot of bad landings in my day, no doubt, but this looked like an oscillation. This plane is strangely easy to fly, very light on it's feet, and has good power, but when you're used to being able to unleash furry, like with the 80mm, it's easy to get into "difficult" situations, that would be easy to recover from, then remember - oh shoot, this is the 64mm!!!! ;)
I flew mine off grass no problems also I don't know how you're getting 5mins I'm getting 3mins but I am hard on the throttle 😂. It is a fun little plane. I would honestly say it would be a good first EDF jet its so dang easy to fly!
When will the second thoughts video on the EC-1500 V2 come out? I am debating between buying that or the Cirrus 22T. Which do you recommend? Price isn't a deciding factor. I prefer to fly scale and do slow low paces but also a little loop or roll here and there. I have flown the old Blue Cirrus and loved it. Have not flown any EC-1500.
Very soon ;) Are you a mind reader??? - seriously, we just filmed it today! bprc.me/CirrusSR22T VS bprc.me/EC1500 They're so different!!!! If I had to pick, I'd pick the EC1500, simply because it's more capable in many ways.
That's short! I wonder if you have a bad cell in that pack? Can you load it, and see which cell might be sagging? I know my flights weren't especially long, but that seems shorter than you should expect. Alternately, if you want to check your ESC LVC settings, you could dig in. I believe they have that in the manual...the ESC programming guide. I thought we showed it in the UNBOX BUILD RADIO SETUP video??? If not, you can also follow our link, and I believe FMS has manual links on that page down a waze
@@BrianPhillipsRC you should hook up a servo or 2 on the back side of your wings next time you fly one of your commercial passenger planes and spray chemtrails while you fly it overhead so you can geo engineer your own property. That would be really cool actually. Take care brother. Love your vids!
Great flight Brian. How would you compare it to the 64mm Arrows Marlin besides the fact that the Marlin has chicken wire struts. Thanks ! I live uoyr reveiw in the Marlin too and it flies fantastic!
You found the biggest difference, and to be honest, the Marlin is a good trainer, but this just looks a lot better. The RTF feature with the Marlin in a huge detail for some...gotta pick what's right for you. bprc.me/FMS_Futura VS bprc.me/Arrows_Marlin
Hey Brian Great channel-very informative all around If I may ask your opinion.looking to purchase my first edf. Been flying 5 years what would you say would be best as a first------the Futura 64mm or the Habu 70mm My transmitter is a NX6 Thanks in advance David
Wondering if you've tried to remove the steering/nose gear pin.... It's the weak link and bends where the nose gear attaches and the grub screws hold on. I was able to bend mine back but I did order another to replace it. A hot landing rolling out into some grass will definitely bend it. I've got a good number of flights on mine but trying to pull it out feels like something is holding it and I don't want to break it.
I haven't. We've only flown her a couple times, unfortunately. The wind has been epic, then we've been rushing like crazy to get everything filmed...so won't probably fly her again for a few weeks ;(... I'd love too try the nose gear thing, just to be able to see what's up with mine...but have had pretty good experience, albeit a limited experience. I just want to fly her and belly land her. She'll look so dang GOOD with those gear out of the picture. Also, she'll land fast, better anyway ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC I got it, had to use two needle nose pliers and carefully bend the bottom back some then I was able to remove the servo arm and pull the pin upward and out. I straightened it and put it back in but have replacements on order. If it gets bent too bad at the bottom of the fuselage rather than damage the plane trying to straighten it I would probably cut it off so the pin could be pulled up and out for replacement.
Which one do you like better Brian? The futura 64MM or Arrows MArlin 64MM. Im looking for the one that is most stable at slow flight. And longest flight time.
Thank you bprc and your camera crew for all the incredibly informative videos. Quick question. Can you hand launch this plane? Stay well and keep flying. Doug Koprowski Anchorage, Alaska
If i had the avanti 70 could i use the program with this futura? The landing flaps arent as aggressive, just curious to see if i could save time in binding a new model 😅
2 questions - what is pilot fatique ? did brian stay up too late? and the rudder is well forward of the elevator - that is different...how does that affect handling?

That one IS actually a real word...The word I was referring to being made up was just AFTER. Wish you had a time stamp. Thanks for being here with us, and learning new made up words!!! lam·i·nar /ˈlamənər/ Learn to pronounce adjective adjective: laminar 1. consisting of laminae. 2. Physics (of a flow) taking place along constant streamlines; not turbulent.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I know brother I’m just busting your balls…😝 I think it’s hilarious. I do the same shit to my wife, she loves to learn new made up words😅😂….. she will say to me ….”Michael ( when she says my first name in full I know I’m in trouble or she’s mad lmao) what you just said doesn’t even make sense! There are atleast three words in that sentence that is just made up.” 😂😂 Its like shes the fricking vocabulary police 😂 crazy part is she doesn’t get that I am just literally messing with her. and that’s after 16 years!😂😂
That oscillation is called a stall. Cutting the power and pulling the nose up will do that. Why not find a longer runway and practice slowing down your planes in the landing pattern rather than turn and burn, cut the power and try to land on a postage stamp. You’ve got a nice RU-vid personality especially with your wife filming and talking to us as well. But every landing with a more advanced model seems to be an adventure. Don’t mean to offend, just trying to help you make the models look better.
Beautiful plane! I'm trying to decide between this and the Marlin as a first EDF. Any major differences in performance? Thanks for excellent content as usual.
I guess you would call me an "intermediate" level RC pilot. I have no experience with the Futura, but do fly a Marlin. It's very light, pretty fast, and very easy to lose sight of in certain conditions. It has an incredible roll rate and is quite agile. It was my first EDF and oddly enough I've never crashed it. I noticed the landing gear on the Futura is much more robust than that on the Marlin. Just a viewer's 2 cents worth. LOL
I have the marlin, and it’s a great beginner jet! Like the other guy said, it’s light, it’s fast, and it’s simple. You can even put an xfly 64mm EDF unit to give it a 1:1 power ratio which really makes it a fun plane
@@Rylan04 Thanks so much! Any experience with the 64mm Futura? They seem so similar. With the videos I've watched (take this with a grain of salt), the Marlin appears to be faster and not stall as easily, but the Futura looks like it has better landing gear and a better nose gear servo.
If considering this vs a RTF, it might be tough...but let's just, for the sake of argument, consider PNP to PNP... This one is better, and offered from FMS, ie direct from the manufacturer, whereas the Marlin, which is made BY FMS for Arrows. This one is very slightly harder to fly, but that one is probably a TOUCH cheaper. Both good choices, but I think this one wins the battle ;) Marlin is less pretty, in my opinion, and this one also has THRUST REVERSE ;) I like that feature A LOT!!! bprc.me/FMS_Futura VS bprc.me/Arrows_Marlin
It's a 64MM- Has enough power. I fly mine on 100C 2200 4 cell I get 3 minutes and that is it. Comes down with 20-25% battery left. Flys off the grass with no problem. I do not use any type of gyro. Great flying plane. And the camera crew is great BUT you still talk to much. I also have the 80. 2 different planes both are excellent. The landing gear is superior to most EDF's I have seen. Anybody who can land a plane in their driveway gets full respect. your buddy Tony
