Except it’s like $200-$300 more than a 19x. You get more out the box, but you pay more too. I got the CZ P10c threaded about a month ago. Offers more than a G19 for a little cheaper. If you like the FN or Glock, you may also like the CZ
I agree, I've been a longtime glock shooter and purchased the FN 509T when it first come out and so far I like it better than any of my Glocks. The 509T feels like it was made for my hands and thus far it is my favorite pistol I've ever owned.
I've got the gen 5 Glock 19 and the 509 tactical compact. The good thing about the tac compact is that it comes with a shorter grip and 3 mags. A shorter 12 rnd for good concealabity, and a 15 rnd w grip extension, and last but not least, a 24 rnd mag for range or hunting use. Overall, this FN tac compact is amazing. With all its options, including the Mos and threaded barrel with night sights, It definitely feels like it's worth the $900. Oh, the 509 also comes with two guid rods with retained springs for both regular ammo and lower velocity ammo for when you run a suppressor. You can't beat that. Amazing gun.
I have both these guns and the M17, and I did my own MHS trials, and my conclusion was inconclusive. I can not pick a winner. Love them all. Probably the only thing I could say conclusively is the 509 is most comfortable in my hand.
I am actually doing the same as you: acquiring all of the guns and doing my own MHS trials. However, it is taking me a little bit of time to gather all of the participants. I don't have the Sig yet (the price hasn't come down enough), but I am getting the 509 next (really good prices at the moment). The one conclusion that I have been able to make thus far is that the Beretta APX is awful.
Just watched this video again couldn’t tell you how many times I watched this when it first posted. I was off work with a crushed finger just watching reviews on guns chomping at the bit wanting to shoot. I was doing a lot of research on the 509t which I did end up getting. Anyways you got to start doing the if I could only have one videos again. 👍🇺🇸
I have both of these guns, and I love them both. The Glock is still basically stock, simply polished the trigger bar and threw on a Talon grip. The 509 is my project gun for league style shooting. I have a dual port compensator from PMM, lighter recoil spring, the Pro Talon grip, and a Vortex Venom on it. I plan on getting the Apex trigger and striker for the 509 as well as a reduced weight spring set for all the springs in the trigger system. Once that’s all acquired, I plan on polishing the trigger bar on the Apex trigger as well. The goal is to get that trigger on the 509 as nice and short as possible. Hoping to stay around 3-4 pounds on the trigger pull while maintaining the very assuring break and reset that the 509 has. I’ve got nothing bad to say about either of these guns, just plans to make one of them better for league.
An update on the regular 509: the regular 509 now comes with the threaded barrel, suppressor sights, and the red dot mounting rail. I chose my regular 509 over the G43X. It was such a hard choice to make though!
I have both. Like you, it is a toss up. One day at the range, I am favoring the Glock 19x. Next trip to the range, I am loving the FN509 TAC. You can't go wrong with either pistol. They are a BLAST. Loved the video.
@@daltonearle1 I love the 509 as I have the Standard , the Tactical, the Midsize, the Midsize MRD, and have a 509 Compact MRD on order. The only problem I have had was the striker broke on the Midsize, so I installed the Apex heavy duty striker on all of my 509's.
I love the 509 as I have the Standard, Tactical, Midsize, Midsize MRD, and have a 509 Compact MRD on order. The only problem I have had was the striker broke on the Midsize, so I replaced the the striker with the Apex heavy duty striker on all of them.
Agree 100% and thank you for not being biased to the Gloc Loyals. I’ve owned gloc x4 love em but there’s just something about these FN’s that Rock. I carry the FNSC9 and I’d can easly out the Hlic away however my Sig P320 still rivals the FN well...
The 19x is an awesome gun for sure Keith! At least a couple of the first takes over the last month had the 19x winning. So difficult to choose. Thank you and cheers brother!
Just pick one up today. Mine came with a 24 rd, a 15 rd and 12 rd. Nice case, and a sight kit for red dots. So far so good sights take a little different picture. Love the ambidextrous side release and mag release. My grip is considerably shorter than the one in the video
I’ve been thinking about something like that 88. Not sure how to do it yet and what to feature but I’ll keep pondering. Excellent suggestion! Thank you and cheers!
You can fix the grit in the trigger of the 509T. Basically, the internals of the trigger catch on a lip on the barrel assembly. If you file that off, the trigger is VERY smooth.
@@jacobmcvay123 Thanks . I made this comment 4 years ago . Thanks for your advice . I have bought many great gun's since then . Getting CZ'S in Massachusetts is not always easy . We have a gun compliance list that is crazy
@@christianc9793 Hi Christian . I didn't buy either one . I ended up getting the Smith and Wesson 9mm 2.0 full size . All three are great guns . I just don't like the grip angle on the Glock . I had a video on my channel about my choice but took all my videos down . I'll probably put them back up eventually . Check out the CZ P10 . Great gun also .
I just got the FN 509 and I’ve only put 400 rounds through it. But it is amazing! I love it! I was always a Glock fan and I still love Glocks. But this FN 509 is awesome! I love it!
@KSGunGuy - hello KS. The thumbnail shows a black extended base plate on the G19x. I'm looking for a black extended plate for my G45. Which one are you using? Many thanks!
I'm considering all the same weapons you are, and I must say, tjat while the Canick appears to be a budget friendly pistol with a lot of positives going for it, many of the video reviews I have seen show the Canick has a propensity to stovepipe, amd failure to feed/extract. I'm not talking one or two per 100 rounds either...I've seen at least two videos where there were multiple stovepipe incidents from the SAME magazine. It's making me wary about laying down my hard earned money for it...These are just issues I have observed... I'd suggest you check out some more video reviews, before making a choice.
Love love love your comparison videos!! So damn fun lol. I have to go with the 19x on this one. Im late to this but oh well lol. Thats why the videos stay up right?! Lol.
It just makes sense to get the 509… comes with the red dot mounting, threaded barrel, suppressor sights.. all things you’d have to pay extra for on a Glock. Love my glocks but the 509 wins it all the way.
@@losoway4505 none of the pistols come with a red dot included The hellcat RDP is the only one I’ve seen And everyone wanted the “other” optic it could come with.
Were you a fan of that old Highlander movie/tv show? When you said “there can be only one” I had a flashback to that show. Do the Guns who “win” consume the power of there current nemesis?😊
Thanks for this great video. I carried a Glock 31 as a State Police Officer, loved it. Nothing bad to say about the Glock at all. BUT... I just ordered the 509 today. It just had to be done. I can't wait to run it. Thanks again.
Another great video! I picked up a 509 Tactical and love it. However, I've noticed after firing through a few mags pretty quickly, this thing gets hot as hell. The slide and takedown lever are almost too hot to touch. Have you had a similar experience KSGunGuy?
Welcome to the gun world. We like having you here. Please look into gun does and don'ts, understand and practice the 4 laws and always carry and be safe.
I carry the 509. I'm waiting for the 24 magazines to go on sale separately from the Tactical. The 24 rounder is going to be my back up magazine. This is my favorite KS video. Gr8 job! 🔫
I got my fn brand new but it came with a pretty deep ding in the finish. Is that something that’s normal with new handguns from fn? Should I contact customer service
I think Glock came out with there 24 round magazines in response to the FN 24 rounders. I love the 19x because the 19 round mag just flows smooth like it’s meant to be.
If it fits your hands and you can shoot it well, it's a good enough gun for you! nothing weird about that man. I can't shoot a glock worth a damn - so I'd probably go for a 509 since I've had prior success with the FNX-45 tactical.
Charles Kao I was 100% in your camp. I wasn’t able to shoot Glocks worth a damn but the Gen5’s did something different/ improved the trigger or something. I’m dead on accurate with my bone stock 19X. And I can also shoot my FNX 45 Tac quite well. Give the Gen5’s a shot, it may be a better experience.
Tough call. Both nice. I own the 19x but have not shot the 509. At my LGS the 19x $570 and the 509T $999... Big difference. Thanks for another informative review. I look forward to these comparisons. Cheers!
Great review I have the G19x and was looking at the FN Tactical a few days ago but I am on the fence about it. I do like that its milled for a red dot though.
I love Glock and I'd love a 19x but, if I put a G17 mag in my G19..... It's almost the same thing. I carry G17 mags as my backup and have been using the Magpul 21 rounders with good results. Don't get me wrong for a person with big hands, Big Johnson comes to mind. They will love the G19x. Good comparison sir.
update just found out the Arizona DPS have stopped using sigs and went to the FN's sig was the mainstay of the department for many years was a surprise the officers i have talked to including a commander they love the FN
I would be interested in just the regular 509. The tactical has everything you would need, but the price tag for me wouldn't be worth it unless I was going to add a suppressor or red Dot. Neither are in my future plans, but it's nice they have it set up.
I'm sorry Leonard I should have been more detailed about it I bought it Apex Trigger for backup because of all the bad reviews I have heard about the firing pin breaking so my scary ass just to be safe decided to spend $50 on a better Striker call a paranoid or call it smart because what I have seen around 75% owners that own a FN pistol the firing pin takes a s***
Actually I will suggest switching to apex striker right away. If the factory striker breaks, springs maybe damaged. How do I know? Mine broke! I still love the gun.. it’s really nice, not perfect, fortunately, there is a $50 solution! ✌🏻
I have a H&K VP9L, and will be picking up my 509 T in about 2 weeks (I have a Sig 365 XL on deck after that). What are your thoughts of the Sig 320 when comparing to the FN and Glock? I'm leaning towards a Glock over the Sig 320 so I can get the micro conversion kit.
Sorry to hear that. Been a Glock fan boy . Just picked up the fnx.45 tactical... now my new favorite pistol hands down. I actually love the trigger and do have upgraded triggers on my glocks, but for some reason this fnx .45 just shoots so pure. I was rapid firing from 25 yards and getting a great grouping with the fnx 45. I’m hooked ! You’ll get another one soon!
A FN 40 was my first gun & ever since I just fell in love with FN..about to pick up the 509 tactical...I own a Glock 30 and the ammo loading in the mags is a pain..the mag release and putting a new mag in a fn is so smooth
@@ItsOkLilFella People like to defend there handgun purchase no matter what. It doesnt matter to them if another handgun is superior. Glock fan boys with there over priced guns dont understand that.
I had a opportunity to shoot the 509 and I can't say it wowed me in any significant way. It's a sexy pistol but that trigger is lacking for what it cost.
Ive had my 509 tactical a year now and i love it. Ironically my next gun will be the glock 19 gen 5. I would not recomend the tactical 509 for EDC. The standard version maybe, but the tacticals barrel jabs into your leg if you appendix carry. Ive also had it squish my balls into a seat when going to sit down.
Lol I know what you mean. But I can handle the 509T, right now I EDC a full size springfield 45acp, just got use to it. Everyone is always like dude WTF, I'm like he the longer the barrel the more accurate it is. Lol.
Amen to FN 509. Thanks for another good review KS. I got this pistol a couple of days ago and I haven’t had a chance to explore it yet but with your seal of approval I’m sure it won’t disappoint. The only thing is where I am we are limited to 10-round magazines only so no 17 or 24-rounds for us :( The gun came with 3 of them though
It’s an awesome gun and I think you’ll love it. It’s a bummer about the 17 and 24 round mags. I’ll never understand why some states do that. Thank you and cheers!
Would have liked to have seen a difference in barrel accuracy with different factory defense ammo, that would have made up my mind in picking between these two pistols.
Own both in 9mm and honestly it’d be down to personal preference and cost. Pick one or the other and you will be far from disappointed. Both really great shooters!!!
Just picked up my fn 509 tactical a few days ago and I’m absolutely in love! I haven’t even shot it yet but just the bold looks and perfect ergonomics have me all googly eyed over it lol I still would like to get a Glock 19x but it will have to wait until I get my red dot sight! Just not sure which red dot to go with! For the money I may just try a vortex venom
The FN 509 Tactical comes with more features and goodies out of the box, but I'm choosing Glock based on price. Cheap gun, cheap mags, cheap parts. And it comes apart with two pins. And ZERO tools. Glock all day for me. The 19X is ~ $550. The 509 is ~ $850. It'll cost about $200 to get a RMR cut for the Glock. Then $150 for a threaded barrel. Then $100 for suppressor sights. A Gucci Glock that can compete with this, is pricier. But equal if you sell your stock parts. For me it comes down to Glock aftermarket parts, the price and quality of mags, RELIABILITY, and options for customization. I know I'm an outlier, but I'd take a Glock. All these other guns seem nicer or have nicer features, but I somehow end up just preferring a simple Glock. Great video as always!
Christopher Barger IMO you’d be kinda over-valuing a Glock, especially for EDC. You’ll be spending more money to get the same gun. I’m an EXTREME FNH fan, so I’m a little biased.
Why spend the extra dough to pimp a Glock when you can buy a gun already pimped out?? Idk how you justify the price point judging at the end of the day you’re over the price of the FN.
Hi KCGunGuy, I have a Glock 19 Gen 4 with Pyramid trigger and three dots night sights. Do you think the above mentioned pistols offer a good advantage to warrant buying either one of them ? Your reply is highly appreciated.
Great question! It sounds like you have a great gun with the gen 4 so unless you are just looking to pick one up, probably not. That said, with the FN, you get a threaded barrel and red dot optic cutout, so if you’re looking for those features, it may be worth checking out. Thank you and cheers!
