If you facing an upcoming NP Board Exam (or any exam!) what are you most nervous about? And if you've already beasted through this test, what tips do you have for others??
Thank you Nurse Liz for this video. I just passed my FNP board exam this Saturday. I used Liek and Hollier’s AV as my review materials plus FNP mastery. I think 3-4 weeks of dedicated studying is sufficient to learn the materials. Here’s what I saw on my exam: Gynecomastia - spirinolactone Morton’s Neuroma How to diagnose: anemia and leukemia Hemolytic Anemia Chlamydia treatment for pregnant women HF Systolic murmur Hirschprung disease Test for strabismus for toddlers Anticholinergic effects Coumadin treatment and InR for first time dvt patients Acute bacterial prostatitis Ethical dilemma for a terminally ill child Dementia Copd treatment Metformin Sign for Rotator cuff Cluster and migraine headache Macrolide abx Rash post viral infection seen in kids Skin diseases - pytiaris rosecea Tender points for Fibromyalgia Fasting glucose Hepatitis B and Hep Igg Acute hepatitis Leading cause of death for women Lateral epicondylitis Patellofemoral syndrome Meniscal tear PCL/ACL ligament tear test (Posterior and anterior drawer test)
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing the AANP test last month she passed and I failed 😣, I asked her how she did it , just found out she got her help from Mrs Brenda
Hello Liz, I wanted to let you know that I passed my boards yesterday! I can not Thank You enough for your guidance. I did exactly what you said. I purchased the Leik book and read front to back and did every practice question. I also attended Ameilia Holia's (probably spelt that wrong) live review course with APEA (FANTASTIC REVIEW). In addition I got her audio and listened to it in the car everyday until the exam. I truly believe that these tools are why I was prepared and passed the exam. Again I can not thank you enough! Best Regards, Hope
CONGRATULATIONS! What a huge accomplishment and relief! I'm so glad those were helpful! I wish I had taken the APEA review, so glad to hear it was awesome!
Thank you so much Mrs brenda for helping me achieve my dreams of becoming a nurse practitioner. I took the exam for four good times before i met mrs brenda, i really appreciate her good work
Of course, I had to check out your video about the NP Board exam! I remember watching your video on how to pass Patho and here I am trying to pass the board exam 😭 😭 😭 Time flies, Liz!
Great video! Currently studying for the AANP. I am soooo nervous! Lol. Im using Leik and my school provided a live Hollier review and access to online and i loved it! I'll have to check out picmonic. Thanks
I'm taking AANP next Monday. Sometimes I feel great about it and other times like when I just answered only 63% of the LEIK questions correctly I get really anxious about it and wonder how I will ever remember everything. Sooo stressful! I just want to be done!
Ohhh I remember that feeling well. I also felt on and off in terms of how prepared I felt. I think it’s totally normal! Fingers crossed for you. You got this! Almost there!
I am just about to graduate from NP school and its so nice to see this video to realize I'm not the only one who just gained this dark cloud over my head! Thank you so much for your perspective, it made me feel like I may be able to do this after all!
Hi Liz, Thanks for the vid! I see you made this about when I was six months into NP school. I am in my final course now in the Chamberlain College FNP program and I'm very nervous of this exam. I am choosing to go with the AANP exam. My school gave us the Hollier review as part of the course which was cool and I have the Leik book and app as well. I'm not averaging the best scores on these practice exams, so I'm trying to improve, but I feel like I don't have enough time to catch up on all these subjects and ideas we have to remember. I'm even scared now that I'll even be a decent NP. Any other tips besides what you've spoke of in the video? Thanks again for the video and I'm sure you're one heck of an NP!
Francis, you're not alone but I think its normal to be nervous. There's a lot of info that's thrown at us, dealing with school, work, and family is a lot. Im in my last semester and I'm nervous as hell....Good luck
After going through a review book, I'm wondering if taking lots of study questions for the FNP AANP exam is a good strategy. It worked for the NCLEX to just go through lots and lots and lots of questions and rationales. Would you say that might work for the FNP exam or should I work on studying more content and later questions, but fewer questions in total? I mean still a lot but not use that as my primary strategy. Thanks!
It's definitely helpful to do questions because you can read the rationales, but the NP board is definitely more content based vs the NCLEX that really was more geared toward logic and how to take a test. The NP boards didn't try to trip you up with weird wording. It was much more straight forward.
I have 3 more clinical course to complete but I’m already stressing on how to prepare or study for the NP board. I’m glad I found your channel . I am learning a lot from your channel. And thank you for taking time to make these videos to help people like me😍
Hi Liz!!! Thank you for these great tips!!! You explained how I am feeling now that I have graduated FNP school!!! Now it’s time to study for boards!!! My question to you is how do I make a plan to study? For instance how do I march out subjects each day? Did you do cardio for 1 week, Derm 1 week, GU 1 week consecutively? Thanks for your help!
congratulations on your graduation!!! I basically just bullet pointed how many different topics and chapters I had to do from my Leik book and Fitzgerald and divided by the number of days I had until I took boards, and did that maybe sections a day
I've been watching your videos for the past year and just realized that I wasn't subscribed!! I have my exam coming up in a week and am concerned that I have not been studying enough. I did the Hollier live (virtual covid edition) the 2nd to last week in march. I had been using the fitzgerald book to study and for practice questions for course exams since January. I also felt like the fitzgerald book was too much info to go through. My exam prep started a little over 6 weeks ago but not very structured due to me and my young son being quantined together for 4 weeks for covid. I feel like that was a major setback and I am a little worried about how well I will do on the exam. A co-worker who recently passed recommended Leik to me about a week ago and my practice exam scores have really improved. I guess my question is how did you know that you were ready and adequately prepped for the exam? Also, I have been having testing anxiety since the covid pandemic began; What can I do to help put myself at ease during the exam?
I for sure didn't feel "ready" but I knew that I had gone through all the material and had done all the Leik and Fitzgerald practice questions. I figured that there was NEVER going to be a point where I knew absolutely everything, but I had done a ton of studying and reviewed it all so I just went for it. But I don't think there's ever a feeling of "readiness" ya know? I am also no help with being at ease during the exam because i was hyperventilating haha. sorry!
UPS just delivered my Leik book...so excited...still three more classes left but on my breaks inbetween classes I plan to start....just nervous all the time lol...I love ur videos
Hi Nurse Liz. I was curious, how did you break up your studying time while using Piccmonic for pharm review? Did you do abx for a few days, then antihypertensives for a few days, etc? Did you review ALL of pharm? (There is a lot)!!
Believe me ,what ever you do never give up, finally I've pass my NP board exam on my 3rd attempt , I can’t believe I almost gave up after not making it for the 2nd time ,fortunately for me I was recommended to a tutor by my friends
The truth is most FNP's, A-GNP's, ENP's and NP's you see today passed with Marcus help, my sister passed thanks Marcus and I'll be sitting for my exam in two weeks, I'm studying what Marcus provided already i trust him and i know with his help I'll pass
Hi Nurse LIz. Question...any updates on or recent changes to tips on passing the FNP Boards Exam ??? and what do you think about ROSH Review and its Qbank?
Just became a new nurse! I get my BSN this December but want to go for my NP! I have a passion for skin care and would love to eventually become an NP in aesthetics. Just need some advice. Do I still go for family NP? What kind of NP program do you recommend for someone who is working full time.
Thank you so much Liz I just finished my AGPCNP Yay!.......lots of letters :). I am excited and nervous! You just helped me immensely with your tips I already have the Leik book and the Fitzgerald Nurse practitioner certification examination and practice preparation book. I will definitely get the Hollier audio. You are awesome. God bless you!
My "BIG" problem is procrastination, I scheduled the test (AANP) 8 weeks out and I'm having a hard time on what to study first LOL. Thanks for the tips, I have the Leik book and the Hollier videos. I did attend her live course and it was really good, and would advise to take it. Any help is welcomed and thank you in advance. Rene
Just start wherever! I literally went through the book front to back. Maybe start there! And try to set a daily study goal and schedule time in your day to get it done. So glad to hear the live course was great!! Best of luck with your studying!
@@lizwiebe4022 yes the information was for np's as well as np's waiting to test..she gave up to date information and helps u use the info in clinical practice...i am going to go every year for credit and to stay up to date
Hi Liz, I love your videos and am in my first year of NP school. I want to start studying for boards but wondered if I should wait to buy the newest version of say, the Leik book and the APEA Audio files. Do you think it's better to start studying now for boards? I did an accelerated nursing program and we started studying for boards day one and that I think really helped me not only to pass boards the first time, but also to pass test questions in my courses during school. Thanks again! FNP class of 2022
Hey Nurse Liz. First and foremost thank you for sharing all your tips and information. I took the Barkley online review course (changed from live due to Covid) and have been working through the book. I also have the audio files to listen to. It’s been tough going so far. I have about 5 weeks before my exam and feel like it’s not enough time to get through it all. Would it be a bad idea to switch at this point to the the Leik prep book and app you suggested? My mind is going in a million different directions and each passing day increases my anxiety. Thanks in advance for you help.
Hi! I wouldn't change course now. I've heard of many people having success with Barkley! It is a TON of information no matter which program you choose, and you are already started with that one so I would keep going! You can do it! Break up the remaining material into doable chunks to get through every day, and it makes it slightly more managable. YOU GOT THIS!
Is there a way to get the Hollier audio at a discounted price? I have the Leik review book, so I don't think the book part of the Hollier resource is necessary. It appears to be a bundle cost...is that correct?
I came to your video to see your opinion on the Fitzgerald review specifically. I don't graduate until December 2021, but my school keeps encouraging us to take the Fitzgerald review twice (once in the middle of the program and once towards the end). This just seems kind of crazy to me since I feel like I hardly know anything at this point so taking it this fall seems semi-pointless. Thoughts on this/if it would be worth it?
I absolutely would NOT do the course twice. That sounds like a really big waste of money in my opinion. Sounds like your school is trying to have the review course do the job of teaching you. I did find it helpful to buy a review book (around 50 dollars usually) while going through the core classes. But definitely not a review course.
I recently took my AANP exam and was unsuccessful. I studied over a month. Read and made notes for the Leik book and completed all the practice questions. Listened to the hollier audio twice. Purchased the APEA Q bank questions, did approx 1,000 + questions. Yet I still managed to fail by 50 points. I struggle with multiple choice and test anxiety. I’m nervous to retake it in a month. This could cost me the job I have lined up. Has anyone else been in this situation ?
I would love if you could sometime make an advice video for new graduates. I just graduated (studying for the NCLEX) and I will be starting a position soon in critical care pediatrics!
Hi! I also had a baby during FNP school because I'm crazy and apparently love stressing myself out! My first daughter was 6 weeks old when I started FNP school and I took a semester off to have my second daughter! What can I say? Life doesn't stop! I am trying to decide what certification to register for and what reviews to buy and I am so glad I found your videos when I randomly googled ANCC vs AANP! I was minutes away from just buying the Fitzgerald review but now I'm considering just buying the stuff you recommended instead! I am so going to go back and watch your other videos, I feel like we would relate so well!
Holy cow you are super woman!! I’ve gotten tons of great feedback on the hollier course! If you have any questions feel free to ask! And congrats on being almost done!!!
@@NurseLiz Thanks! YOU are superwoman! You moved cross country while studying for boards?!?! Wow! I bought the Hollier audio study review and the Leik book! I will let you know what I think of the study questions that go along with the Hollier audio but most people I polled also agreed it was worth the money. And geez, plopping down $425 + $65 all at once sure makes me go eekkk!!! But if it helps at all it'll be worth it! But seriously, thanks for this thorough video, it was so incredibly helpful. 💜💜
Liz, I do not work much with social media, instagram or posting comments on youtube channels. Is it possible for me to reach out to you personally with questions I have regarding my FNP program? Thank you!
Easiest way is definitely Instagram messages! If not you could email me at nurselizyt@gmail.com but I’m definitely not the best at checking that I admit 🤦🏻♀️😬
Hi Liz! I love your videos. Do you recommend this same advice when preparing for the 3P exam? I have to take it this next session of school. Also, are there any RU-vid channels you would recommend? Thank you so much!
i tried the free sample app and found the questions to be the same as those in the book. Were the leik questions reflective of the exam? I was going to buy the code separately but didn't feel it was necessary just to have the same questions on my phone. I take my book everywhere lol
I want to congratulate you on everything!!! you have been such a big help so please know what your doing is making a difference in the nursing world!! I will do the same thing and share with fellow nurses because I don't believe in nurses eating their young!! oh FYI I am still in school I will not finish with my clinical portion of my program (God's willing) in May.
Nikki Nurse get as much crammed into my daughters nap time as possible 😂. Towards the end I set small goals like 2 systems a day. But mostly I just studied during nap time. I’d say 1-2 body systems a day, studying at a similar time of day would be ideal! You will kick that exams butt!
@@NurseLiz Yes! It was amazing. Not only did it help me pass my boards but it has helped me in my practice. I still will listen to the audio on the way to work 😁
Thank you for your videos they are so helpful. I graduate in 10 months, do you think it is too early to start with Leik and Hollier? Haven't decided which certificate to test for yet😊
nancyhertl2013 I would wait until 3-4 months before graduation, that way it’s still fresh in your brain! But if you think you can remember it now then go for it! For me, I would forget it all by then 🤦🏻♀️. Best of luck on your final stretch! You’ll be done before you know it!
It is doable but you have to stay disciplined. Doing schoolwork, working full-time and doing the clinical rotation all at the same time can be stressful. I had to switch so many days with my co-workers just to accommodate my clinicals! Good luck :)
Just scheduled my AANP exam for next Thursday! Nervous is an understatement!! :( I just passed a comprehensive exam last week that was required in order for me to graduate, so I was on a high with that! They say usually if you pass it, you can pass boards, but of course I'm still freaking out :/ I attended a live Hollier review in January and have been studying her guide for the last few months and doing Leik questions as well. Everyone who's graduated recently from my program suggested to go ahead and take the exam as close to that comprehensive exam as possible since it's SO hard, but part of me is still so afraid!
Fingers crossed for you! I remember the sheer panic I had before that exam oh so well. Make sure to give yourself a break the day before the test. YOU CAN DO THIS!
Hi CJ how was your test?? I’m taking the ANCC in three weeks and I’m freaking out! Was it as hard as you thought and what content would you say to study the most ( Everything) right?
