Continuing my fan fiction story based in the Fallout world, this week I built some small holotapes from the game. For this build, I used: 10 mm, 8 mm, and 2 mm EVA foam, metal screws, super glue, Plasti Dip, Rub-n-Buff paints, and acrylic paints. You may also need the following tools: a rotary tool with various bits, a heat gun, and an Exacto knife or box cutter. Let me know in the comments below if you want to see more like this one, from shows, video games, or whatever. Please smack that like button, dropkick subscribe, and share with as many people as possible.

10 Holotape facts
1. Historical Context: In the Fallout universe, holotapes are a form of advanced technology used to record and playback audio (and sometimes video). They resemble real-world cassette tapes but are depicted as being much more sophisticated, often functioning in a manner akin to modern digital media.
2.In-Game Lore: Holotapes are a critical tool for storytelling in Fallout. They are used to convey information, backstory, and character insights, often providing players with crucial lore and hints about the game's world.
3. Pre-War Technology: The technology behind holotapes is depicted as being widespread and highly advanced before the Great War. This reflects the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the Fallout series, combining 1950s style with futuristic technology.
4. Gameplay Mechanics: In many Fallout games, holotapes can be found scattered throughout the world. Players can listen to these tapes to uncover side quests, learn more about the environment, or gain insights into the lives of characters from before the apocalypse.
5. Different Types: Holotapes come in various forms, including audio logs, personal diaries, and even fictional recordings like radio broadcasts. Some holotapes also include gameplay features such as mini-games or interactive elements.
6. Real-World Inspiration: The concept of holotapes in Fallout draws inspiration from real-world technologies like VHS tapes and mini-cassettes, blending them with sci-fi elements to create a unique, immersive experience.
7. Holo-technology Evolution: In Fallout 4, holotapes are more interactive than in earlier games. Players can use them to access various in-game mechanics, such as the "Holotape Games" which include playable mini-games like "Red Menace" and "Atomic Radio."
8. Notable Holotapes: Some holotapes are particularly memorable or iconic within the series. For instance, in Fallout 3, the "Project Purity" holotapes are central to the main quest and reveal significant plot details.
9. Character Development: Holotapes often provide deeper insights into the personalities and backstories of characters. For example, recordings left by characters like President Eden in Fallout 3 or various NPCs in Fallout 4 help flesh out their stories and motivations.
10. Collector’s Items: In real life, holotapes and their associated memorabilia have become collector's items for fans of the series. Limited edition Fallout releases often include physical versions of holotapes as part of special collector’s editions.
