You should tint your mod podge with some acrylic that way you can see how well it's covered. Plus it will act as a base coat when painting :D

when you were messing up the screws to make them look less shiny it reminded me of a tip I once got from a friend about hardware weathering, if you wanted them kinda more tarnished then you could have put them in a super hot oven for a while then quenched them, or you could have dunked them in some hydrochloric acid provided they aren't galvanized or plated or whatever. Apart from that the build was awesome. i liked that the wash made it look like the flat head bits in the screws had filled with grease and dirt.

that X-acto saw blade u used to cut the rest of the way. Do you have a link to where you got it?? Cuz I have NEVER seen that type of blade before and REALLY would like to get some. Bill! for crisper edges when you paint on masking tape, mask off your area and then apply the base color that you used under the tape as your first layer. This will "Seal" the edge and the bleed will not show as its the under color already and then use whatever color after that. Perfect lines every single time.

Bandsaws are very safe, motion is always into saw bed, the work is pulled down flat and cannot kick. Rotaries fire debris all around at ridiculous speeds, and shattered discs are like shrapnel.

@@haydenweeks7336 With small or non-square work it's not always practical, especially if using a fence or a low blade guide/guard. In principle I agree, I have a couple of sticks and a pad by my saw, but you'll find that theory and practice don't always match up, especially for detail work.

Just a suggestion about masking, that I learned painting houses. If after you mask, you paint around the mask with the original base color, the bleed will be in the base color and will seal the tape line. Then you come back with the color you want, and when you pull the mask off, the lines are super crisp. Jim

Quick tip, and a question; whenever you need 8 equal(ish) measurements on a line, if you can make a tape or paper strip (like you did in this video) fold it in half. Fold that in half. Fold that in half. 3 totals folding in half’s, BOOM 8 equal(ish) segments, including the joint. 1 fold is w segments. 2 folds is 4 segments. 3 folds is 8 segments. Question part, you keep using that black pipe and calling it PVC, is it black PVC or is ABS? They both work similarly, but differently (PVC is much more brittle than ABS), looking at how it cuts and sands I would think it’s ABS, but I don’t know what mats you have access to (I just today found out they make PVC tubes for crafts in damn near any color!). Keep up the awesome projects! The kids and I love them.

I absolutely loved this build! In the future, I would personally wonder about the logistics of the rust though, in regards to the screws: When metal rusts, usually there's a fair amount underneath that's rusted too, and would require a lot of treatment in order to bring back the metallic steel color you see in the screws at the end. So I think that making the screws completely rust-colored would add that little extra touch to complement the rusted paint finish. All the same, excellent job! A wonderful recreation.

@@thebeybladearmory most 3D printed stuff I've seen still looks horribly ragged. It's a useful technique, but hardly the be-all and end-all of prop making. Besides, it takes quite a different skill set to 3D model something compared to doing a great paintjob, which is what sells this project. I wouldn't pay 150 for either the foam OR 3D printed version though. Unless you need to buy all the paints and tools still, the materials are pocket-change level. Again, the only thing making this difficult and therefore expensive, is the skill of the painter. I'd rather have a go at making it myself than spending a ton of money to buy some instant gratification, that'll only last a few days.

8:51 yea Them blades scare me too. Don't like usen them AT ALL!! I will if I REALLY HAVE TO and have no other choice! But I will try any and everything first before I grab them blades even tho I have every size and even in different types of metal from steel to titanium. Also at 12:13 you sharpened the X-acto blade on that whatever its called. What is that called and is it a special kind made for razors like the X-acto blades?? Have a link?? Never knew they had something like that. But I REALLY need it as I go thru a ton of blades cuz they aint super sharp have only a couple of uses and Im getting tired of going thru so many blades so fast, That thing would help me out A TON!! A somewhat unrelated addition; as resistors have colour codes, so do munitions. Here are some US examples; www.alternatewars.com/BBOW/Markings/US_Ammo_Markings.htm This might be useful or serve as inspiration in a future project.....who knows...

Fortunately the screws are optional! You could totally make them out of foam clay instead or just paint them on. These screws aren't much of a risk because they're very small and light weight - unlikely that they'd do any real harm :)

@@punishedprops the pvc might though, and it throws the weight balance off. It's great stuff to build with, but quite a bit denser than foam. Now I'm wondering if you could make the model out of foam completely, in such a way that it'll hold up. Probably stick the fins thróugh the body... The rings might end up a little too delicate though?

*for fun, why not scale this pattern down even smaller, make it a bit more sturdy and make a set of three for juggling...think it would be awesome at comic-cons...that is when this county wide lock down ends and we can venture outside as before*

You should've done grooves in the bottom plastic with a knife and then done the dark paint weathering, but everything else was perfect!
