Focal Bathys Headphone Review w/ Upscale Audio's Grover Neville 

As usual, your comments and observations are on point.

This review seems a bit rushed…Some key points are that the Bathys indeed uses the same driver as the Celestee and is of course “M Shaped”. While Focal does employ plastic as they do on all of their HP, many reviews call the yokes plastic when they are magnesium which is a big deal as the yoke sees the most movement and potential stress. Materials matter to many and there’s a huge difference between these two materials. The light up function is perhaps neat but serves no true purpose which is a missed opportunity IMO. It can however be turned down or off. The DAC mode does produce marginally better audio via USB connection but in general, the Bathys is not a fast headphone so more complex music passages will not be impressive here. I find that some folks are not discussing these attributes that IMO are important considering that our choices these days are ever increasing along w/asking prices. Overall, the Bathys is a more than solid ANC headphone that sounds really good but does come w/some caveats but they all do at this point. No audiophile is going to toss their socks over these but Focal does a good job here w/several compromises that were likely required. The best advice I can give is to search prices as these are out there as “open box” at steep discounts. The same applies to any of the other high end heavy hitters. It’s all about preference.

please investigate how they sound after breaking in. I've had two pairs, both became too harsh in treble to be listenable. There seems to be some resonance around 3-4 kHz that can't be fixed by EQ. I don't have measurement equipment so I am not sure about the exact frequency, but it's quite audible.

The one thing I do not want is "a little forward in the top end " so these are a non starter.

How about a comparison to two other premium BT headphones at the same $799 MSRP? Namely the Beyerdynamic Amiron wireless (or wireless copper) and the Hifiman Ananda BT.
