Looking at picking up a pair of these for about 499EUR. Was going to purchase the DT177x go since i need some portability, but taxes for Europe make DROP prices much higher. Figured these are a good option since I like soundstage and detail....but am a bit concerned about low-end representation (not a basshead by any means, but listen to a lot of electronic music) compared to something like the DT177x. Nice that both can play from a phone or simple schiit setup.
Nice review you got there. I also own the elegia, mdrz1r, z7m2, also the signature pro. I also think the elegia is fabulous for its price point and more consistent with its performance across sources. Compared to the z7m2 it's more consistent cause the z7m2 requires too much power in order to sound it's best I guess it's due to the huge drivers in there. The z1r sounds better than elegia and it pulls away when connected to a high end dac like mytek Brooklyn dac, or chord hugo 2, but then again it's way more expensive so it should be great. Me personally I prefer the elegia and z1r over the stellia, cause it sounds crunched and harsh for some reason, compared to the z1r, elegia, or the clear. And yeah the elegia is a detail monster regardless of what you hook it up with, its consistent and beautiful in its presentation. Great video. I would love to know which amplifiers you are using, thank you.
Thanks, I've done my listening on a jotunheim and a k5. I'm quite picky about tuning and the z7m2 hollow sound didn't really fit my taste at all. The z1r didn't have that hollow sound.
@@garychen2181 I haven't had the pleasure to try those amps. So I don't know how radically different it is from mine. But overall your elegia description is spot on. Hopefully you do make more reviews.
he didn't discuss what it sounds like after burn in, and with eq. I would think this is great value since it has the same focal clear drivee, but its unfortunate he didn't discuss this.
@@jimstewart2242 At this point if you’re thinking of a Focal headphone the new Celeste would be the one to look at and looks to be a retuned Elegia based on feedback and tuning criticisms.
