This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. If you do the same things you've always done, you're going to get the same results. Sometimes you have to take a step back and ask yourself “which aspect of my life can I improve and how quickly can I get there?"
Kara Lawson, an Academic All-American and graduate of University of Tennessee, is a passionate advocate for fitness and personal health. Since being selected 5th in the WNBA draft in 2003, she has played with the Sacramento Monarchs, the Connecticut Sun and most recently the Washington Mystics.
Off the court, Lawson began her broadcasting career at the age of 23 and has become one of the go-to voices in college basketball. She has covered hundreds of games including being a part of ESPN’s studio team for 5 Final Fours.
Kara is also an active participant in the NBA Fit program and is a member of the first Lady’s Let’s Move Campaign.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

It's a great video, but it's important to note that she does start talking about "Focus, discipline, concentration..." until about the last 40% of the video. (Just a heads up!)

I don't disagree. Easier said than done. However, every once in awhile, there needs to be an honest reality-check.

Meditate, study, or place your attention on something that bores you. whenever your mind stray, place it back onto the subject. Continue this and you start to build concentration.

There’s no ‘how to’ except to do the damn thing. If you’re looking for anything else, eg a mental technique - that’s just a distraction from doing the damn thing and just growing your distractability. Step 1) Do the damn thing Step 2) Do the damn thing again Repeat until your distractability reduces to 0.
