UPDATE for Alien 680 / 700 owners:The Alien wobbles a lot with the default Naza gain settings. To get vibe-free video on my 2.3kg big Alien quad which spins 15" props with 380kv sunnyskies on 6S, I had to use the below gain settings:Basic gain: 165 row 165 pitch 155 yaw 165 vertical Alti gain: 140 140 Do not be afraid to crank up the default basic gains to 150, then increase it by +5 at a time until it kills the wobble.
Today in 2020 which machine would you recommend, I am a rc pilot been flying planes for many years... I wish to build a machine purely for making videos & long duration quad machine..
Among the 3 in the video , only the large folding Alien with 15” props could fly for 30mins, the other custom build drones could only fly for around 12 to 15mins. Hence you would need to choose that or an equivalent frame that spins 15” props. Also consider getting a DJI Mavic as it costs cheaper than DIY and could fly 25mins and produce descent quality videos for production
Thanks for watching, this is an interesting question. I would go with probably a custom built folding frame which is a hybrid of carbon plates (CNC cut) with some unbreakable 3D-printed parts (nylon filament). Then again, you could probably buy a cheapo drone from Banggood or GearBest which mimics the appearance of the Mavic. Dig out all the trash electronics inside and put in your own PixHawk /Naze32, mini OSD, mini GPS, etc. Will be a fun project!
It is a Quanum XJ 470 (hobbyking) and a Lisam LS-470 (aliexpress). Both are identical but they are discontinued. The replacement model is this: www.aliexpress.com/item/32770447311.html
I got the h680 i want to know why fly for few minutes my ccw motors always got too hot when tourch as compared to my cw motors. Motor mounting are balanced.
I have that on one of the 3 drones. If you have calibrated all your ESCs end points and balanced your motor mountings, the only suspect are the blades of the prop. I noticed the cutting angle of one ccw prop is a tad lesser and this makes the ccw motor work harder. The other issue about my ccw prop is the uneven carbon fiber surface, I guess this has something to do with the manufacturing mold for the ccw. In the end, I sand the props, rebalance them and spray clear lacquer on them. This helps a bit only since nothing could be done about the pitch problem.
Sure. Alien 680 (biggest alien) is at www.goodluckbuy.com/h4-f660-fpv-carbon-fiber-folding-alien-quadcopter-frame-kit-w-folding-landing-gear.html and Alien 450 (smallest alien) is at www.goodluckbuy.com/h4-450mm-carbon-fiber-folding-fpv-alien-quadcopter-aircraft-frame-kit.html and the LS-480/ XJ470 (white one) from AliExpress/ Hobbyking is already discontinued.
True, but this video was 2 years old. Sadly, the Mavic turned this hobby into "Hey genius! I can have it all by parting with my salary!" kind of state. On a positive note, it makes the hobby more popular and easier than before.
Terence Chan well actually i dont use a mavic i biuld mu own drone using popsicles sticks it can fly morethan an hour and has a obstacle avoidance my goal is to have a drone that what a dji drone can perform in a much lower price
The alien450 is a 99usd carbon frame (without landing skids) from aliexpress.com The quality is really good, when compared to the hobby king alien 560. I used the landing skids from the Turnigy 345 quad frame
