Guys, amazing feedback from this video. I’m so happy we started this series. It’s great to see how much people enjoy it. We’ll make sure we mix up the type of golfer we work with during the Follower Fitting series. 👍🏼
wow what a joy it would be to get fit by you guys... I'm in the USA so not going to happen for me but man i wish i could find somewhere here that could do what you all do.. Im 58 years old and have lost a lot of what i had and need some changes badly. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep watching. love the channel and truly trust your opinions on everything you all do..
I am very impressed with the way Ian explain things and does fittings. How do I get fitted by Ian? I am all the way in Malaysia but its a bucket list for sure to be fitted by Ian. I have been to Club Champion in LA once just checking out some drivers but we decided not to commit to any at that moment. I would need more lesson than clubs but at 57 and being stuck at 15-20 handicap, I could use all the best help and lessons to enjoy better golf. I would like to think it is never too late to improve your golf game and I’d like to very much improve mine. If you have plans to come over this side of the world for fitting sessions, let me know. Or if I could come to you would also be great.
Love the channel guys. Ian, something I think about often since I had my first fitting a few months ago. As a fitter how difficult is it to get somebody into a set of clubs that long term benefit them? Especially for people who’ve played say for less then 5 years? I know myself watching a lot of coaching content and trying to pick the bits that work for me through trial and error my swing can change over the course of a few weeks. Is this becoming a bigger problem for fitters as people have more access to coaching material and try to implement it into their game?
Getting fit by Ian is a life goal! I’ve been watching the channel for years. And have been hesitant to get a fitting because anything less than what you guys do would feel like a waste of time and money. Great video as always!
Bucket list experience for sure. I've done 2 fittings locally, and both times I was disappointed afterwards because I feel like they were nothing close to the quality that we see Ian and Mikey do on this channel.
Really enjoyed the beginning to end process with someone who hasn’t been through a fitting. Would love to see a few more of these, so glad to hear this may be a regular piece of content.
This was amazing to watch the change and just the look on Matt's face - would love to see a 85 - 90 mph swing speed - with someone that has only bought off the rack - as I get older things slow down
Perfect example of "forgiveness"! T-100 smaller with "less" forgiveness and not a high launch club but literally the best design for the swing, turf, and miss. What a great follower fit and what a classy follower to add to the channel 🥂 LOVE THIS!!
I learn so much when you fit people who don't play every day and therefor have some real scope for improvement. This was the best demonstration of the shaft's role as a timing mechanism. I have struggled with timing that comes and goes my whole life. I'm 68 years old and swing my 6 iron 80 mph. I struggle to get a peak height above 75 on all but my most middled shots. Every fitter defaults to the "old guy" formula of lighter, softer clubs and shafts in a hope of more speed more kick etc. When I ask if a heavier steel shaft might help me be more consistent they look at me like I've just said something stupid. I realize most people w my swing speed get more out of a lighter softer shaft, but as this fitting shows trying something heavier and or stiffer might help me time my swing better.
Great video! One observation: by pushing his path to the right, his face angle ended up being 2.1* open. Probably something he will naturally change over time if he sticks with the change to path, but worth noting. This fitting was super relevant to me as I have been struggling with clubs that feel too light. I bought a set off eBay that ended up being 1/4” short of standard, and then put midsize MCC+4 grips on last season in an effort to combat my hook miss. The clubs also have dg 120 shafts. The net effect is that I feel like it’s hard to hold my angles through impact and I’ve started developing an out to in path (some of that is due to an effort to get steeper). I end up presenting the club toe down more often than not, despite being only 5’9” and not really suffering from early extension for the most part. I’m in a similar ss category and 5 hcp, my ball striking is generally a strength but I’ve been struggling with the long irons more lately. I’m starting to think a real fitting is needed but I’ve been to several in my area including multiple times to club champion and never came away feeling good. Can’t help but feel a little jealous watching this fitting!
Will there be a part 2 and maybe part 3 of this video for the long and short end of his bag? Loved the follower fitting video! The most interesting part was the higher swing speed with the heavier shaft! Can you do more testing on this or talk about the phenomenon in a future video?
If only Ian wasn't so far from Oz. There is a club Champion fitting centre here in Melbourne...... surely you'd like to visit Oz and play some of our sandbelt courses Ian (and do a couple of fittings whilst here) 😉
Great fitting video for irons. The 10 handicap golfer is hitting it all over the face and still getting outstanding numbers and flights. I am also a 10 handicap but most of mine are dead center on the GC Quad Foresight setup. The gentleman getting fit has an incredibly fast club closure rate. That’s a big part of why his efficiency is so high as the fitter said. Average golfer closure rates are in the 2000-2800rpm range with a 6 iron. The angular speed portion with that high of a closure rate brings his delivered iron velocity much higher than a slower closure rate. Angular rotation of the club shaft (and head) provides the more than 50% of the amount of speed in a golf swing.
Watching these videos makes me very excited for my iron fitting in April! As we don't have access to all of the different fitting options, especially in 1 place, here in Newfoundland I can't wait to see the boys and what they fit me into!
J40 still a solid choice. I've watched every video on this channel for the last 2 years...Ian always talks about standard deviation and look how low it is on those Bridgestones...would love to see him throw some s400s in his J40s then compare to the T100!
Enjoyed Matt's fitting. Been watching Ian fit for years and while watching TXG I was convinced to try a full bag fitting with Club Champion. Loved the experience. Would be thrilled to have a fitting by Ian. I live in Oklahoma. 66 yrs old. 7 Iron is about 150 yards. Fitted 4 years ago and now slower swing speed and change in overall swing since then.
This was so cool Ian. Awesome to see you take a more average golfer and offer them expert diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Ian out here saving lives, or at least golf swings.
This is exactly the fitting video i have been searching for, for so long. A fast swing speed player with a natural left to right shot ! Very interesting to see the lie angle changes and the shaft weight helipng with getting on plane. Fantasic job boys 👍
I've, in the past been a miserable ol' scroat in respect of many other peoples fitting videos (not yours), but it's so refreshing to see a 'proper' fitting. fabulous work!
@ianFraser, this once again is a superb video, love seeing you go through a full fitting process Wondering, do you have any plans to do any fittings in UK at all? Preferably Liverpool 😂
That's truly impressive! I believe the gent is really gonna improve all aspects of his game ... and gain in all areas. The comfort attained by the adjustments, you can see in posture and expressions -- HUGE!!! Nice. Be Safe
The Anatomy of a fitting... Loved this Ian, Nice job guiding us through the process, it's amazing how differently we all deliver the club to the ball, and how good you are at identifying the Equipment V's the Golfers ability and potential... Nice one... Are you Ready for a average 65 year Old 4 Handicap yet ??? Hurry up I'm 66 Soon... LOL
I went through a Driver fitting and I can say that it was the best thing I have done for my Driver. This year I want to get a new set of irons and watching this Video has confirmed that I need to be fit into the set I want to purchase. I'll have to make sure I throw my hat in the ring for one of these fittings.
Love the follower fittings! So interesting to see your everyday golfers get fit! Were more heads tried but edited out? It seems like there are more heads that could have worked that he may have like?
First fitting ever is scheduled for 2/10 at the St.Louis location. Been playing the same irons since 2013. Can’t wait to see what kind of gains I can make. I’m so excited I can’t sleep, I just stay up watching fittings on here!
Wonderful fitting. If only all fittings were even like this. The fitting I had at Club Champion in Atlanta is definitely not like this and probably won't be back there. You make things comfortable. The guy who did mine seemed like he didn't have time for a 14-16 handicap player like myself. I am curious on why the 6 iron seems to be the club of choice for a fitting? Most places utilize 7 iron. I can say if the experience was like this, it's worth paying more for clubs when you know it's right versus the pressure of trying to hit a good shot and the fitter waiting for a better player to come to him.
Awesome video and I learned so much seeing the change through the fitting for a golfer getting fit for the first time. I’m playing off the shelf max OS clubs. Only been playing a couple years, and finally getting my swing fairly consistent. Very curious what a standard OS would do for me. If you’re ever looking to fit someone in the US I volunteer!
Love all this. Makes me sad on my fitting last year at a different company, vs this experience. Not all fittings are equal!!! Mine basically boiled down too...what did you like best?! Like wtf isn't that their job to tell me...sigh. I would fly to Toronto Ian, or could meet in Calgary shop...1 hdcp, 114 club speed...cheers
When I saw that toe down I thought uh oh this guys needs some upright clubs ASAP. Great job on getting him dialed in. No doubt getting his driver, fwy and hybrid upright and the right shaft will get him to low single digits.
Your comments about the heavier weight allowing for better alignment are quite intriguing. My C-Taper Lights being counterweighted might be working against me in that regard. Might be worth seeing you next you're in town!
Wish my experience at club champion was the same! I watched y’all for at least a year now, and when they opened up one right down the road from me, I had to go. But the guy I got just wasn’t the best and got sent out the door with cards for some lessons instead of new clubs. And before you ask I’m a mid-low 90 handicap. Almost broke 90 a few times here recently. Very disappointed. Guess I need to jump in a plane and come to the man himself!
I wish i had a fitter like Ian here in Wisconsin. His knowledge and understanding of the golf swing/club relationship is unmatched. Bravo. Can I make a trip to 🇨🇦?
I can't imagine playing irons 4 upright. That's crazy to my mind. I played 2 up year ago, but over time I've changed to Standard to neutralize. Amazing how different swings can handle it. Great video.
They could also lengthened the iron and set less upright but swingweight would have been too high and control would have suffered. He is tall but doesn’t necessarily need longer clubs
On the Ping static measurement scale I come out as Silver which is 4 degrees upright plus 1/4 inch longer. So for me 4 upright is neutral. Even before taking swing dynamics into account. Of course beyond Ping, most clubs come 2 degrees upright and 1/2 inch long is as close as I can get and that's still very toe down for me.
Love these vids. Im a pretty big/strong guy and struggle to keep the club from tipping also. The comment about heavier clubs caught my attention. Do you increase total weight or swing weight in this case? Curious if I could make a change like this without replacing everything. Using 2021 t100s with project x 6.5, +1/2 longer.
So i sometimes cast the iron a little early release you can feel the grip (I'm right handed) hit my right arm just below the wrist a sure sign of not holding the angle at impact i would've assumed lighter shafts not heavier to improve some of that dynamic. Informative
Good morning guys, love to listen @ see your video's. Would you recommend the IS300 for folks in the 70's, for getting in and out of. I really like the looks of the 300 but a bit pricey for a car with no leather. Let me know your verdict Thanks Keep up the great work.
i have 12 handicap and i also hit the kirkland wedges! they are absolutely units! so much spin and great face. eveything this guy said is also EXACLTY how my game is (long iron issues, right misses etc) kinda scary lol.
This is how it's done! No need to work on changing swing to be more shallow. He hits the ball well, hes steep so move it right and keep the swing. Just brilliant, so many local teaching pro's need this mentality. But i guess that hurts their bottom line lol
