Hi, Angela! I was wondering if you would do a haul of your vintage wardrobe. After watching your video about venturing into vintage fashion, it really inspired me not be so afraid about going more into vintage fashion. What are some items that you kept from your old wardrobe and what are some things that you've added either by purchase or by making? What are things that you are considering adding or would never? I dont know if it's the same video you watched, but a couple months back she did a video on purchases she made when she decided to switch her wardrobe over to vintage she went into detail on what she loved about each piece and why she regretted certain purchases. Also what she wish she had known when starting her collection

Great video! In HS (1960's) I loved wearing my mom's old clothes from the 40's...including bits of her old Army uniforms. I thought it weird that she had no clothes from the 30's, but I learned that during the depression she had only a few articles of clothing, and those were worn to shreds. Thank you for showcasing all your vintage treasures!

i love this pattern except for the button flap i would modify it to lay flat instead of sticking out (just my preference because i hate things touching my arms near my elbow the skin is ultra sensitive) but the blouse is to die for it is perfect the material is perfect great job

Mellissa Cameron Yes, for me, as well, that area of the arm, kind of the inner portion of the upper arm is very sensitive. I often can’t wear sleeveless or short sleeved shirts if they have any sort of raised embellishment on the bodice (especially, but not limited to, sequins) because it’s just too rough and irritating.

Haha, that was one of the things that attracted me to the design, but I get not liking it. They have a point marked where you can cut off the extension and have the buttons lie flat!

fun fact! until the late 18th century, the word frock actually referred to a child's dress. with the advent of simpler fashions and especially the chemise dress, which resembled children's clothing, the word moved into adult vocab!

I love 1930s fashion, styles like this video in particular. It was really enjoyable/helpful to see you go through all of the steps with the buttons and closures. It's such a cute finished product - you have an excellent eye for matching colours and patterns, and matching accessories and makeup to a finished garment.

Still loving your videos, and it's fun following what appears to be a greater self-confidence in your presentations. The touches of humor make me smile a lot while I'm watching, although I'll admit that -- being a non-sewer -- I often use these videos as background sound while I'm doing something else. It's that voice of yours.

Very cute frock. Unusual how they have the sides of the bodice angle out. Perhaps this was to make the waist appear more cinched.

Awesome. You're braver than I am! I remember doing bound button holes in an exam piece. I hated them! I'm still not exactly happy about doing them, but will if pushed. I certainly wouldn't do as many as you. Excellent video as always. I wish o had found your channel sooner though. I inherited my nan's sewing patterns when she died 4 years ago. I donated so many 20s/30s/40s/50s patterns to charity. If I'd if known about you, I would have sent them instead. It would have been amazing to see what you did with them, and to actually see the pieces. I'm so sad I found you too late.

I don't mind them when they are wider and done with a more appropriate material...but stitching extra narrow ones with linen? No thanks! That is sweet of you to think of me - but I'm sure whoever got them enjoyed them a great deal too! :)

I was blown away by your website! At such a young age you have so much experiance with complicated patterns and explaining how to put it all together and clearly have a passion for what you do. I love the textures and patters in all the materials you use, may of them I'd gladly frame and hang on my wall! But more 'simple' (well relatively simple!) designs are so nice as well, I love your coat for "1918 ENSEMBLE, DRESSING FOR DOWNTON" it looks amazing on you! :)

I admire your fortitude. I couldn’t cope with that pattern. In the UK a jumper is what you call a sweater. We call this kind of dress a pinafore

You may have found the blouse fabric a bit troublesome, but the fit and the pattern really look nice on you. It has a wonderful texture. I also agree that the frock seems a bit loose, but I don't think that detracts from the results. I especially like that you went to the trouble to acquire shoes that really suit the outfit as a whole. You look really put together, and I hope you enjoy wearing it out and about.

I was excited when I discovered you were making a "jumper" and blouse from the '30's. I've been on a jumper making binge over past month (some success but some fails too) and I just love yours! It's exactly what I'm hoping to achieve (not necessarily '30's style for sure but in linen with thinner straps and some interest like the pleats/slits at the bottom of the jumper). Your red linen is just beautiful - such a deep hue and a great match for the dainty cotton blouse.

I love the hint of another cooking video. The last one was a blast. All of my friends make fun of the way i speak French with a strong English accent, but i try. Now those button holes are totally new to me and was wondering how those were made. I have to watch that a couple of times, thank you for more tips.

it's really cute! The linen and cotton combo is great for summer. i can see it in a wool fabric for winter, with a long sleeve blouse underneath.

I love this series and your channel! You mentioned the buttons were supposed to be link buttons, but then sewed them on like conventional buttons. Link buttons are two buttons joined together with a thread bar and inserted through two sets of buttonholes, the same way a cufflink is. I don't know if you knew this ... given the faff bound buttonholes are, I don't blame you for not wanting to make twice as many! I started sewing as a child in the 1960s ... everyone who sewed owned a "big fat sewing book" which had detailed instructions for every step in most sewing patterns. [My BFSB is the 1975 Vogue one, purchased as a gift by a boyfriend.] Patterns could eliminate basic instructions as seamstresses would refer to their BFSB for those details ... only the unusual methods would be detailed in the pattern.

You really did rescue the jumper! Hurrah! The blouse though, wow, so stunning! This outfit really suits you. I find the sticky-out bits kind of odd and would have made them to lie flat (I'm a really broad shouldered, busty gal, so I don't need to look wider!)

I'm really impressed with the quality of it given the price! It still wrinkles a lot, but has a much nicer drape than other linens I've worked with.

Sun Set Making your own clothes evolved from a way to save money on clothes to a “luxury” craft/hobby, so now they can gauge you for the supplies. Also, you can potentially earn money from your labor and the stores can’t have that. THEY want to make all the 💰! Such a racket.

I wish I could afford to buy those patterns. They are so lovely, and I would DIE to have some of those beautiful dresses in my closet. I love the fabrics you chose. But it seems as if the button portions flare out and do not lie close to the body. If you made it again with a zipper could that be changed?

It's intentional! If anything they should stick out more (the linen was a little limp for this design) you can see it on the front view of the pattern :)

The reason why pictorial review patterns were so sparse is that the company also sold books with detailled construction information and the assumption was that the maker would have both book and pattern, with the pattern instructions giving specifics as to that pattern's notches, pieces, etc.

did you buy those shoes to match the dress? If so you were spot on. Love the look but from the back the side buttons do flare out a bit, is it supposed to look like that? Im not well versed in 1930's fashion so im not sure. Superb job in my opinion.
