These guys would have been just another band back in the seventies and eighties. No offense but hardly that great. Paul McCartney's version is still far superior, much more focused and genuine. A lot of groups think overpowering you with guitar riffs carries the day. It doesn't.
But who wrote the song ? I'll give you a clue, he goes by many names, in fact hundreds perhaps thousands of names throughout history....Jack, Nick & Louis just to name a few
The thing I like about the Foo Fighters is that they’re not rockstars. They are musicians. Rockstars care about being a celebrity and the fame. Musicians care about the art and the music. It’s not about them.
Band on the run is one of my favorite songs ever! (And nine teen hundred eighty five) I also really freaking love the Foo Fighters. This cover was amazing!!
I like Paul's original, but I like this one too. it's not a matter of liking one more or less, just because this one is the patented Foo style on a classic of rock. but I actually like it better when Paul plays it live, 'cause like, it seems better executed than what it was on the original record. in fact, this is one of the songs I want to play when I form a band, and I don't care how electric it will be as long as I keep true enough to it.
LYRICS Stuck inside these four walls Sent inside forever Never seeing no one Nice again like you Mama you, mama you If I ever get out of here Thought of giving it all away To a registered charity All I need is a pint a day If I ever get outta here If we ever get outta of here Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash As we fell into the sun And the first one said to the second one there I hope you're having fun Band on the run, band on the run And the jailer man and sailor Sam Were searching every one For the band on the run Band on the run For the band on the run Band on the run Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh Seeing no one else had come And a bell was ringing in the village square For the rabbits on the run Band on the run Band on the run And the jailer man and sailor Sam Were searching every one For the band on the run Band on the run Yeah, the band on the run The band on the run Band on the run, hey Band on the run Well, the night was falling as the desert world Began to settle down In the town they're searching for us everywhere But we never will be found Band on the run Band on the run And the county judge who held a grudge Will search for evermore For the band on the run The band on the run Band on the run, yeah Band on the run, yeah
This song was my favourite in 74 as a 10 year old and knocked Long cool woman in a black dress off my top slot. Loved The Hollies and Wings as a kid. My first two favourite bands with many more to come. I'd love to hear the Foo's do a cover of Long cool woman..... I bet it would be awesome.
brilliant rendition.! my youthful days applauding.! smashing to the beat of your own drum - LOUDLY / ENERGETICALLY.! ~claire~ brisbane queensland OZ / down under ✌🏻🌏🇦🇺🤘🏻
They are very talented and could pull off anything. All along the watch tower, zombie and while my guitar gently weeps would be my requests. Obviously Pretender, Wheels, Hero, Times like these and Everlong, love it all. Miss Taylor and didn't even know him. Somebody to love
@@thesearchforproof518 So what? He wasn't saying that it wasn't a cover. The Foo Fighters put out plenty of awesome covers along with their original stuff. No need to be a douchebag about it.
I love Taylor... 1st time seeing these guys was without him... '98 Festival Hall Melbourne. Dave, you can do it. It won't be the same but you can do it. For all the people who have never seen you on-stage... For the love of it. If it feels good do it. If it doesn't, retire Foo Fighters.
Much like Sir Paul McCartney originally did when he created Wings with Linda, I get the impression that Dave Grohl created the Foo Fighters in order to once again have fun with music and not just be work, certainly as tragic as the death of Kurt Cobain was, Dave Grohl was getting burnt out with Nirvana and of course, before that when he was with Scream, he felt like it was time to move on. It is 2023 the Foo Fighters have been around since 1995. Yeah pretty fair to say they've stood the test of time even with changes in their lineup...
@@AidanGiblin yeah, I dig Foos but this was mediocre at best. To be fair, it was kind of a perfect song to begin with. They did they're own FF style which is commendable I suppose but fell flat for me because the songs about dynamics.
Vai ver é gente que gosta mais da versão do Macca e não conseguem expressar isso de outra forma que não dando deslike. A versão ficou muito boa, mas, pessoalmente, acho a do Paul melhor.
And at the end of the song dave the janitor played by Dave G,,goes back to mopping the floors,,and the teens in this Disney tv show about highschool bands ,,go wow that old guy knows how to rock,, you hear a laugh track and cut to commercial......
