It’s because all their songs basically sound the same. They figured out a successful formula and ran with it. No disrespect. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I listened to Something From Nothing and thought Sonic Highways would be an okay album. I listened to The Feast and The Famine and realized it'd be a great album. Now that I'm listening to this I'm 100% SURE this will be an almost perfect, if not perfect, album. Thank you, foo fighters!!
Not trying to bring race into this, but i'm black and people (mostly other blacks) always look at me funny when I blast stuff like this in my car.... I can't help it, it's just so good.
Thats because people want to cling to ignorant stereotypes. Doesnt matter if youre black, asian, indian, or white. If you love rock, and thats in your heart, blast that shit! Youll be alot happier for it! :D
Easily Offended Im white and I get the odd look when I blast reggae dub tracks in my car. Odd looks from, at the end of the day, ODD PEOPLE!! ;-) A lot of humans like the sound these humans make!
That's the beauty of music it brings people together... Not to sound all corny but it's true and probly the only thing in the world that unites people. Rock on 😝✌🏼 ✌🏿✌🏽✌🏾🎸
That's three fucking amazing songs already... you're telling me there are five more on _Sonic Highways_? I don't think I can handle that much awesomeness in a single album.
I was sleeping ... I received a notification on the phone: "Foo Fighters have just released a new video," you have awakened me, the most beautiful awakening of a lifetime!
Apple/ /Green It's not. It's easily their worst album. It just brought in a bunch of new dickheads who want to hear shit that sounds like "Wheels" and have never heard "Weenie Beenie". ESPG was dad rock.
The first thing that came to mind when I heard Something from Nothing was wasting light Feast and the Famine reminded me of Foo Fighters and this reminds me of In Your Honor. It's like the greatness of their previous albums all in one package. I love it :)
Well, I met the seventh son He came for everyone The day he heard the lighting in the field I heard him clear his throat A fork within the road That night the Tallahatchie took the wheel I've been throwing knives To see just where they land Now my world is in your hands Send in the congregation Open your eyes, step in the light A jukebox generation Just as you were The voice upon the stage Is the heart inside a cage And they're singing like a bluebird in the round There's mystery in this wood And ghosts within these roots That are tangled deep beneath this southern ground I've been going through life Making foolish plans Now my world is in your hands Send in the congregation Open your eyes, step in the light A jukebox generation Just as you were Right! Just as you were Just as you were All right! And you need blind faith No false hope No false hope Do you have blind faith? No false hope No false hope Where is your blind faith? No false hope No false hope Open your eyes Open your eyes Step into the light Open your eyes, step into the light The sound becomes Congregation A congregation A congregation yea! And they're singing like a bluebird in the round
As it reminded you of " once and for all" let me ask you, do you know if this song is just a demo? I have "Echoes and Silence..." and it isn't there and I always wondered if there's a problem with the Brazilian version of the album or something like that, do u know if there's any version where this song is included on the album? Tks
The riff is amazing. The hooks are sublime. The chorus is pure sing-along. Even the ending has a Monkey Wrench/But Honestly kinda climax. What more could you want.
O Foo é uma banda da atualidade que ainda consegue emocionar e trazer aqueles sentimentos bons do verdadeiro rock e ainda arranca arrepios. Foo Fighters the best.
to all the people judging the 3 songs of the album, its not out yet, judge it as much as you want when it comes out, its too early. also saying that the foo fighters sounds the same, thats their style of how they make their songs, what are they supposed to sound like? led zepplin? fallout boy? cannibal corpse? are they supposed to go electric like linkon park? no. they are unique by the way their songs sounds like from other bands. & also they way they produce & create their songs. just because they aren't indie or as famous as black sabbath or not metal doesn't mean they aren't working their asses off to make music for everyone to listen as hard as indie, sabbarh, & metal.
Biggest foo fighters fan here talking. This sounds a bit like "in your honor" which to me is really "meh". It's falling towards the more commercial side of foo fighters. I think the last album was really great, it was very different. From song to song. I won't ofc judge this one by only three songs, but I'm really looking forward for something a bit more heavier.. feast and famine was heavy but i felt it was kind of empty not sure why. And i didn't like something from nothing at first but already grew on me (that riff that got stuck on your head was really messing with me but it's all good now, we're on good terms and not to mention the beginning is skin and bones no matter what anyone says). Looking forward for something a bit more heavy. Something more sad or angry is missing. Like an Exhausted or Let it Die. Or something really out of the box like Generator. Something that's really new! This kinda isn't to be honest...
Pedro Nascimento Best Foo Fighters I've heard was the first half of Something From Nothing. My opinion probably isn't common here because funk is my style rather than hard rock
Pedro Nascimento I think it's because of the concept of the album that none of them are "heavy" enough for you yet. Each song is drawing inspiration from a particular kind of music scene, Chicago blues, Nashville country, etc. You can here it in the sound and lyrics. It will probably be heavy enough once they get to LA and Seattle. Even next week they're releasing the Austin song which is heavier than Nashville country.
He's not the only guy singing here. Zac Brown is an incredible singer in his own right, and the Zac Brown Band have made some of the best music of the past 50 years.
I really have no idea exactly what about you dudes, but i have been looking for a band like these for a extremely long! *watch?v=kEe260z453k* Almost all I am able to say is fantastic! Look at the youtube URL
Been a Foo Fighters fan for a long time. Love this song. Watched the documentary on the trip to Nashville. Confirmed my belief that this band was, is and always will be a phenom.
I don't know why a lot of people thinks a Foo Fighters album is shit if they don't burst their strings by strumming the guitar, and Dave screaming his life out. Foo Fighters music, even though it's not usually noticed, has great melody behind the strong strumming and overdrive. Their songs have a lot of feeling and great chords, in every Album. Just like 2:05. Reminds me of In Your Honor. I personally love all of their albums, it's just that each one of them gives me a diferent feeling, but that's what music is about. Just because it isn't as hard as 1993, doesn't mean it's shit. Grow up.
Seeing how the whole concept of Sonic Highways was to record songs inspired and shaped by the studio and city it was recorded in, I thought after each episode airs I’d try and piece together the meaning behind the lyrics. Well I met the seventh Son Tony Joe White was the seventh child in his family. He came for everyone The day he heard the lightning in the field TJW was the Son of a cotton farmer and knew he wanted to be a musician after hearing Lightnin’ Hopkins I heard him clear his throat A fork within the road Tony ended up in Nashville by accident - he’d planned to drive to Memphis but had trouble on the highway. That night the Tallahatchie took the wheel After hearing Bobbie Gentry’s ‘Ode To Billy Joe’ on the radio and relating to the songs subjects Tony Joe decided “If I ever write, it’ll be about something I know about”. I’ve been throwing knives to see just where they land Now my world is in your hands Send in the congregation Nashville & country music is synonyms with the church and gospel singing. Open your eyes Step in the light While having difficulty working on the song’s arrangement Dave said he glanced up, saw sunlight breaking through the studio’s arch window and immediately ‘got it’. “When that light hit me through that window I felt inspired”. A jukebox generation Just as you were In the 50s & 60s in order to make money country stars needed to keep putting out singles to be played on jukeboxes. A voice upon a stage Is a heart inside a cage Singing like a bluebird in the round The Bluebird Cafe is a legendary Nashville venue where acts perform in the middle of the floor with the audience all around. There’s mystery in this wood And Ghosts within these roots That are tangled deep beneath this southern ground The track was recorded in Southern Ground Studios, a former church built in 1901 that used to be the home of Monument Records. Ive been going through life making foolish plans Now my world is in your hands Send in the congregation Open your eyes Step in the light A jukebox generation Just as you were, alright Just as you were Just as you were, alright And you need Blind faith No false hope Do you have blind faith? No false hope Where is your blind faith? No false hope An almost direct lift from producer Tony Brown’s thoughts regarding idealistic artists breaking away from Nashville’s strict formula for success: “Don’t have false hope. Still have blind faith. You gotta have blind faith or why do you even give a shit?” Open your eyes Open your eyes Step into the light The sound becomes congregation A congregation A congregation And they’re singing like a bluebird in the round
this song seriously makes me wanna pick up how to play drums so bad.... the rhythm and vocals is just so good.......................... Foo Fighters come to Singapore please!!!!!!!
This song is so fucking awesome! it really grows on you the more you listen to it. Classic Foo Fighters type of song and it still fucking works! love it!
Thank you guys for continuing to make amazing music in an era where crap reigns supreme. 3 songs out and its an amazing album already! I cant wait for more. You guys never disappoint!

melig1991 Yeahp, had the same feeling with the intro of Something from Nothing with the Intro of Skin and bones, practically the same, a little variant. I'm loving this album so far
I'm reading two types of hating comments about the Foo Fighters new stuff: 1 the ones that say they don't sound like their earlier albums. 2 those who say they sound always the same. For Type N° 1: I think after 20 years of being a band, it's normal to change so it doesn't become boring, to keep it fun. they evolve as human beings and so they evolve as musicians. You will always be disappointed if you compare to their earlier stuff, because that's the material you heard first, and in music, the first stuff you hear will always stay your favorite. For Type N°2: Yes, they sound the same because they sing from the heart, and their heart hasn't change in 20 years, they are just "down to earth" dudes. Plus, all the foos fans want from them it's to hear great rock songs. Foo Fighters are not a band like Radiohead (that i love btw), get over it. They rock, as simple as that. I don't hear a lot of people complaining about how AC/DC sounds exactly the same. Well, that's what we expect from them too. Why not accept is the same way with the foos?
I celebrated my 65th birthday with nothing but foo fighters. I heard many bands that are awesome but there is not one song that the I regret hearing everyday but something but the foos. This just keeps getting better. My grandkids freak out over the fact that I love this shit. I think they should quit listening to that dumb shit (top 40) hip hop and get with what is real. This shit is good!
So many people commented on these 3 new songs the foo fighters released, saying that its unoriginal and that they are stuck in one genre with no musical width. BUT, if the foo fighters were to "expand" their musical width or do something a bit different, I bet that these same people who are saying that they are unoriginal would then comment saying that their new approach doesnt suite them or some shit like that.( we all know the shit metallica got for being different with Load/Reload). So there is no winning with these whiny, ungrateful trolls. Best thing is too ignore their "opinion" as they call it.
You've got it all wrong mate, I'm far from upset and furthermore I quite enjoy Foo Fighters previous material. Unfortunately your replies are as generic and ill thought out as this song. If you're going to make stupid assumptions about what someone may or may not say, at least be prepared to back them up with an intelligent reply.

So I watched the third episode just now --Nashville--, I'm a casual fan of Foo, certainly not a fanatic. During the show, after the "input" scenes completed, some talk about the lead guitar sounding too C/W and Grohl disapproving, I'm like fuk Grohl, I'm the L guitarist, its my take..Then the song plays. And I got it.The boy knows what he's doing. "He's got it". A Foo styled song about Nashville and the way of life there...I got it. To raise awareness is the only end game I come up with right now cause really, who cares what Foo thinks about the music history or "ways of" Nashville. When the song played, I was shocked how good it was, I mean really fukn good, so per the 1st episode, 20 years of Foo, this is an endeavor to light a fire under your asses, holy crap it worked and,,,I believe you just became game changers, i.e. other bands to follow suit and soon...Game changers is the highest honor I give out.
i find with foo fighters a lot of the time i have to listen to the songs a few times to fully appreciate them, however those generally turn out to be the best songs that get old a lot slower
Reminds me a little bit of A Trick With No Sleeve from Sound City: Real to Reel. It's just fucking amazing. I had one of the weirdest and worse weeks of my life and listen to this guys is just fucking amazing. I feel alive. Thank you Dave, Taylor, Chris, Pat, Nate, Rami and all the other amazing people behind this.
You know, a lot of people are saying this album is just garbage. Well for one thing i actually enjoy it but, sometimes bands have to go out and find a new sound, they have to hit the sonic highway. this album is a fine example of that. its got bits a pieces of sound from their old sound but also a newer softer kind of sound. as fans we need to follow them as far as we can go. remember rush? yeah remember their 80's techno weird times. they were searching for new sounds! the foo's are doing the same.
The first thing I thought of when I heard this was 'Long road to ruin', awesome fucking song, but then it completely changes and it's so fucking amazing, it's unreal.
Congregation is amazing! Just accept it.Stop saying they plagiarized band A, B or C, or if they're recycling their ideas, THEY ARE CONSISTENT it's though to keep a style and still make something new everytime! This song gives me goosebumbs from 3:13 to 4:33. Just forget the details and put it in your playlist if you liked it! WERE YOU MOVED BY THIS SONG? That's what makes it special. One more thing... Go learn an instrument! You will be less surly about any kind of music. 1:03 to 1:06 is one of the parts of the song that makes it good. 4:17 until 4:33 is the best part of this great song... GO CHECK OUTSIDE TOO! The best song of the album and the most original too :D
Whats up with all this pop-rock shit? Why does their music need to have a genre? Why can't they just play whatever the fuck they want and have a good time doing it? Isnt that what music is all about?
OK GO ahead and Rape Me for Thinking Out Loud because it will just go In One Ear and right out the Otherside, but All My Life I've thought that Dave Grohl would have Learned to Fly eventually, even if curt didn't die. Don't Panic when I say this though, because I have a reason. Dave still had his Left Hand Free, even when he was Around the World with nirvana. He recorded pocketwatch while touring with Nirvana. He also helped Cobain write most of In Utero. So go ahead and call me a Teenage Dirtbag and say that cobains death was an Oasis for Dave, but he wouldn't have been able to Shake it Off and Realize the Dog Days are Over by writing Foo Fighters in less than two years, it's not possible. I think he was preparing for The Day of the Dead without knowing it. If in fact he did make Something From Nothing, that just solidifies him as a god. If you couldn't understand this passage because the Supermassive Black Hole of references was sucking you in, then Stop Stop the current Madness and Hysteria by re reading Everything. If you got all those references then kudos to you
I hope they expand a bit on their use of lead guitar playing. Not that these guys are that good at it but they're such a popular rock band that it could turn some younger audiences onto it and save them from a death of Autotuned pop bullshit.
Had a history exam today, didn't know shit and I wrote the first 2 minutes of lyrics of this, absolutely no regrets and I pointed out to my teacher that this song is about to make history
