For the comments about Pat "not playing anything" on this song: He's playing a baritone guitar for that song, to fill out the sound. That's why he doesn't just double up on Dave's rhythm parts for this particular song. And that's legendary Pat Smear on 3rd guitar. He's from The Germs, and played a significant part with Nirvana in the later times, oh and was the original Foo Fighter's lead guitarist, but left as they broke big, but Dave wanted him back. Glad they were cool and kept Chris Shiflett on leads. All 3 guitarists have their role, now. It's a good thing.
+EdwoodCA You absolutely right.. Pat is amazing.. he is the hard core playing part of the band. . all of them together makes it work..they are fantastic.. I love Pat. he's always smiling. having a blast ..he always looks so happy...glad he's with the FF... glad the all are..
+bondbond ngan the drummer does indeed do the chorus with dave as back up vocals. dave just doesnt have the right voice for the chorus. but normaly the drummer should be a lil louder but here they didnt mix it correct
to everybody saying the chorus is sung very lame: true, but have you ever tried singing it full screaming? Due to its rhythm speed it impossible to sing it full scream
he sounds a lot better after the little break where he talks to the crowd, he obviously was out of breath as he done a lot of other songs before this one. (for all the haters)
Just saw these guys last night. They put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. They are so interactive with the crowd. They play their hearts out. They had this song as their third song of the set, and it was so amazing!
I often watch the Foo Fighters and wonder if this would have happened if Kurt was still alive. Or, if Dave and the Foos are like the phoenix risen from the ashes of tragedy on a cathartic journey. Either way,
It’s funny because they are crazy and all over the place, which surprisingly makes the song wayyyy better. Prob one of my most favourite songs of all time.
Dave Grohl is a legend. Drummer of the most famous band of the 90s and singer/guitarist of the greatest, we have at the moment. To me he is more legend than Kurt Cobain
He was also the drummer on qotsa songs for the deaf album and it is rumored he drummed for ghost at some point. But uh. A shit load of people would have known. There's a reason "Dave grohl looks like the drummer from nirvana" is a meme
I'd just taken some "LSD". It was fake, and it actually just made me really depressed. So I go back to my tent, alone. I'm fucking laying down alone during the middle of a fucking festival. I feel so shit, like I'm basically waiting to die. And then out the corner of earshot, I just hear this FUCKING MUSIC. I hear Dave Grohl saying these exact words to me... It was so weird hearing him from so far away, but it was so loud I could hear it so clearly. And all I could think was man... THESE GUYS ARE FUCKING KILLING RIGHT NOW. I was feeling so shit, on my own in the middle of Reading festival (I am forever soured off festivals lol) in a tent, and this song came on and made me feel so much better... When he was saying "what if I say I'm not like the others" I was like man... that's so me right now I wouldn't actually trade that experience for anything. Hearing this INSANE live version alone during the festival when I felt just at my lowest... was a very unique experience. Almost spiritual. It was like the song was written for me in that moment.
I saw you on stage at Werchter at that time .. Dave you are huge man ... I love women but I am in love with you man .... you and your crowd are just HUGE
"i've been here before m f kers. be sure to take care of each other". nirvana, live at reading, 1992. kurt's going must have been a god damn shock for the young man ...
