I was the kid Dave came up to, and I come watch this back every now and then. It really was an amazing moment, and I can't believe all the comments I see about me! I just don't want people to think I was some ungrateful little kid. I'm a huge Foo Fighters fan and I think that Dave wrote the song to describe the "times like these". If anyone watched the entire webcast, they were lucky enough to see that I got Dave's shoes at the end of the show.. I still have them on display in my home. I would definitely want to go back to this day. I just thought people would want to hear how I felt about my experience, don't mean to brag at all.
I feel like that's just the kind of dude dave is, he's got a massive heart and he does it for those reasons, just a moment of his time and he helped to make someone's life shine so bright in that moment and you'll always have that man, i couldn't possibly be more happy for you dude, and proud of the way Dave carries the weight of rock and roll with cool and graceful hand. You picked the right band to be such a big fan of bro.
Haha, awesomeness!! Before even seeing this comment I was thinking to myself "wonder if that kid even realized how cool of a moment that was". Good perspective dude!
Dave Grohl has almost single handedly kept rock-and-roll alive over the last two decades. Future generations will owe an immense debt of gratitude to him
@@IanOPadrick I think you have to take the garage rock / post-punk revival groups out of the equation, because there were a shit ton of good rock bands during that era (The Strokes, White Stripes, Libertines, Interpol, etc)
@@TheStereoField I'm not saying the White Stripes did it singpehandedly, but there is a marked uptick in the popularity of these bands after the White Stripes put Elephant out, specifically when Seven Nation Army hits. And Jack White has continued to carry that forward, Help Us Stranger by his project The Raconteurs beat out Old Town Road the weekend they both came out for the #1 spot
@@TheStereoField I think the point is - Foo Fighters are still on top and making great music - since 1995. Generations of fans. Of those you mentioned, White Stripes are defunct, Strokes were inactive for like seven years? The others are not at the same level.
I think it's no coincidence The Foos dressed like the Beatles when they played this Ed Sullivan theatre. Even the logo on the drums uses the same font the Beatles had on their kit. Dave never misses a trick!! The ultimate rock band!!!!!
I wish it would. I just got told by my daughter, who I just met again for the first time in 15 years, that got took away from me because of her slimeball dad, that she didnt want to see me again because o didnt qant her the first time
Honestly, that moment with Dave, the kid, and the guitar, makes this performance one of the most epic performances of all time. It makes me smile and tear up with joy every time I watch this.
Without a doubt, the most underrated band ever... Dave is such a class guy, I’ve seen many concerts when he involves the fan base. Shows his appreciation every time. Fan for life!
Foo Fighters are hardly underrated. 😅 I know real fans from age 20 to guys in their 60's. A local band covers a Foo Fighters song at least once every gig.
Hard to believe! R.I.P. Taylor. Definitely one of the best Drummers and all around cool dude! Prayers are with his family and many friends. Dennis 61 years Austin, Tx
I've always wondered if the kid in the audience that Dave reached out to still watches this video and if he still gets a thrill from it. God bless the person that took him to the show too. That must have been such a thrill for you all. I know I would never forget that night. I would be willing to bet that Dave gave him some incentive to get into music.
Ik Thomas the moment was so perfect. The fact he went out of his way to the audience and interacted with that kid was so awesome. That kids gonna look back and think "it's times like these you learn to live again". Sorry that had to be said :P
I, I'm a one way motorway I'm the one that drives away Then follows you back home I, I'm a street light shining I'm a wild light blinding bright Burning off alone It's times like these you learn to live again It's times like these you give and give again It's times like these you learn to love again It's times like these time and time again I, I'm a new day rising I'm a brand new sky To hang the stars upon tonight I am a little divided Do I stay or run away And leave it all behind? It's times like these you learn to live again It's times like these you give and give again It's times like these you learn to love again It's times like these time and time again It's times like these you learn to live again It's times like these you give and give again It's times like these you learn to love again It's times like these time and time again It's times like these you learn to live again It's times like these you give and give again It's times like these you learn to love again It's times like these time and time again It's times like these you learn to live again It's times like these you give and give again It's times like these you learn to love again It's times like these time and time again
I learned to play this 16 years ago. It meant the world to me then nut it took a whole new meaning on when we learned of my mum's cancer. This was the first song I heard after we heard it come be treated. Not looking for sympathy guys, just saying. This song is the shit! Love you guys!
The last time I saw a friend of mine was when he sent me a message/video on facebook playing this song. He died that night. This is an amazingly special song. Rest in Peace Wayne Roberts xxxxxxxxxx
Listen Kid, I see everybody I lost pretty much everyday, you have a chance to recover, enjoy the time you had, and remember. I never had that luxury of celebrating someone's life, you do. Now I'm drugged out and feel numb, hopefully your young enough to get help that will help. Me, I'm just drugged up and dead inside, can't wait for peace, don't know why God did this to me, but I'm damn sure gonna tell him send me to Heaven or Hell, I don't want to come back here, ever. At least God is Mercyful and I won't suffer too long. Can always count on Dad and Bro and The Spirit to take care of my worthless ass.
The passion that these guys display on stage is stirring and humbling. As an aspiring artist I am "mouth agape" as I hear what they do. Masters of their craft and will go down in history as one of the greatest rock bands ever. Funny that they weren't in it to be the greatest, it happened through their true passion and commitment.
Awesome song. Even the chords and leads are phenomenal. The tacky bass licks and the drumming. Hell even the lyrics are badass. If you ever wrote music you would know they had fun writing this.
Can you be heartbroken and numb at the same time? I still haven't shed a tear over his passing because I still don't accept it's true. I don't plan on crying anytime soon, I'll just crank their albums and it will go on and on forever...🤘
Man,what a beautiful song and what a beautiful band period!: great live band. I now know why Mr.TAYLOR Hawkins is so much well loved and respected. This here is truly a tight family. Dave Grohl and his Foo-Fighters band" Great Drummer' very solid- Very heavy Hitter" a powerhouse drummer, very "Locomotive like a Chu ' Chu'Train-love his style Taylor Hawkins is now a Rock 'N Roll Legend Forever ' Everyone misses him.
I think this is by far the best live version of this song. Between the sound management, the middle at 2:20 and the ending, just an amazing recording!!
RIP Taylor. What made you the best drummer is that I can hear you so well, I tend to focus on your drumming. Man, you could slam that thing. And you had fun doing it.
Not only fantastic, enduring rockers these guys are good humans. I was fortunate enough to see Dave with Nirvana and see him bring FF together, their music was a big part of my life and still is. RIP Taylor 🙏.
Gotta love me some Dave, this is my favorite song ever of theirs along with ALL My LIfe, 2 songs that rock forever and ever and ever and I've to listen to both of them at least 3 times a week for a decade now..lol
I get the feeling that this year is a particularly good time to see this band, so excited! Not been this jealous of a kid since my cousin got a Buzz Lightyear in 95...
Foo Fighters was one of the very first MP3's I ever had. 1998 my family and I were stationed in Frankfurt. Our son wanted this thing called an MP3 player. It would hold 10 songs!! Our oldest son was in college and he found a way to rip our CD's to MP3's....and so it has gone thru the years. Today I own every album they ever made.
How do I know it's the real you? At least you reply a very realistic post. Being a real fan feeds a lot of insight on even non-terrestial passions (passions the band isn't aware of).
You can't convince me Dave Grohl isn't one of the best frontmen in the history of modern music. The dude ALWAYS is high energy and nothing but LOVE for his fans, especially the kids! Fuckin legend 🙌 RIP T.H.
Dave walking into the crowd and interacting with that kid was such a simple act, yet so cool. Tell me the last artist in any genre who interacted with the crowd like that. Dave is the man!!
Anyone else noticed the caracters font spelling "Foo Fighters" on the drum kit ? It looks waaaaaaay too much like the classic font used for "The Beatles" logo!
That's the idea. They're wearing the same style suits The Beatles would have worn and move/dance the same way they did when they were on TV shows back in the day.
TheMiracleMatter This show was played at Ed Sullivan Theatre, where The Beatles played the show that first gained them fame in the US - they were asked by David Letterman to perform there, and they thought they'd go all out - They hiked their instruments up to their nipples, get a custom kick skin, wear suits, etc. that's why when they played their album Wasting Light in its entirety in this show, it was all in Black and White.
