I've listened to so many shit live recordings that I was so surprised that I could actually hear all the instruments. Metallica did a few things on the Howard Stern Show where the mixing was just phenominal
He is a big fan of Rock and covers a lot of different songs at his live shows. Check some of the videos out here on RU-vid. Definitely worth a look. He and his band do a phenomenal job.
@Kommander Rahnn So did Ozzy a lot of times. Dude's a pretty good country musician (for what that means now), and if he forgets some lyrics every now and then, so what? Most people do it at one point or another.
@Kommander Rahnn I'd rather a technically proficient musician mess up a lyric a few times in a song than about anything played on modern pop radio stations
Or they could just have Toni Iomi playin the lead with Geezer Butler on base, Bill Ward on Drums with Ozzy's vocals and they'd be even better. I love these guys too though lol.
Even people who hate country music can respect what Zac brings to the table. I should know, I hate country music, but I have been in love with the Zac Brown Band forever because they don’t just do country, they’ve dived into rock music as well, not just with Dave and Foo Fighters, but with Chris Cornell on the song Heavy is the Head.
Jack Black and Dave are pretty tight. He actually played the Devil in the Pick of Destiny Tenacious D movie. Pretty good movie with the final rock off music battle against the Devil (Dave Grohl) being the highlight.
I gotta' give Zack Brown a lot of credit for stepping out of his comfort zone and doing this with the FOOS! Beautiful cold hard stop in the middle of the song. That's really hard to do.
@@KyleDB150 yeah taylor is way more technical and versatile than the original live versions I've seen of ward and i'm saying this as a sabbath fan. Try again
lol sorry but the drummer is the weak link in this cover. Go look up Sabbaths version from 1970 in Paris if you want to see Bill Ward terrorizing the drum kit. He made the kit explode!
@@turboplazz I'm familiar with Bill Ward. Of course he's great. And also, this drummer is doing a great job. Not seeing how he's the weak link. But, tastes can differ.
Had to watch this again today. Shocking news this morning. Inspirational to watch Taylor. If you ever have a chance to see the Foo cover Young Man Blues at the VH1 Awards honoring The Who from 2006, watch it. Seeing Taylor watching Dave for his queues to Keith-Moon-the-daylights out of the drums was awesome. Gonna miss him.
I was at this show ! The sound in that theater is unreal ! I was actually lucky enough to score tickets to Letterman’s last show too . Foo fighters were his last guest .
Never been the biggest country fan although I do like a lot of it... I do love watching videos of Zac Brown covering rock hits like this or Metallica at his live shows. Awesome!!!
Just mind blowing, took me back to my teenage years in high school in the early to mid 70's. Just an outstanding cover song... Foo Fighters are still carrying the torch of true Rock and Roll. Any one that says Rock and Roll is dead missed the train and got thrown under the bus instead. I'd say Zach Brown can rock it hard, when he wants to. Even Chris Shiflett having a good time. Waiting for the day Foo Fighters does an album or two of their favorite R&R classic influence cover songs with surprise guests for each song. Think it would sell?
Wow, I am reading a lot of comments about it being over kill to have so many guitarists on stage playing together on a Black Sabbath tune. Hey these guy's are musicians and they like to play and the more the merrier. They did it on the show to have fun and sound good, which they did. I'm glad that they did their own version of War pigs instead of just copying the same notes that Tony played. We have all heard this tune a billion times, and to hear it played a little different was nice and refreshing, plus they were still high energy and never let it get too slow. War pigs can actually be a hard song to play live, even though it is pretty basic as far as the riff. I thought it sounded great.
One of a billion reasons Taylor is great: He showed major restraint in this performance. If you know anything about music, this song is a perfect platform for miniature drum solos between each verse, and every drummer I've ever seen do this tune has taken the opportunity, but he didn't, he just played the song, and kept the drum sections almost exact to the record, when he could've easily torn that shit up. In fact he may have even simplified the parts more than the original.
very true he stuck to the original drum beat they all was having fun and their for the fans giving them a good show something memorable plus I think the way the covered this song and the way they did the song was really respectful they could of performed the song many different ways but stuck to the original way it was performed by B.Sabbath I've heard other bands I've not heard of before just butcher covers they performed not trying to judge other bands I respect musicians my grandfather was a jazz drummer after he served in the second war in the army he was a medic he was a very good drummer and taught me how to play the drums that was a job for him lol it was tough in the beginning he was proud he got to teach 1 of his grandchildren to play the drums I got about 13 learned how to play the guitar by the time I was 15 I learned the bass I love music and thank my grandfather for being a musician and teaching me to play the drums
I always hate it when drummers overkill this song with fills and I'm a drummer. Plus there are a couple of songs by foo fighters with similar structure with breaks between guitars where taylor plays his fills so he is well versed with this style of drumming
Take it easy. No, they're not Black Sabbath, but obviously love the song like we do. When any band plays real rock and roll, considering all the crap that's out there, you've got to be happy. Right?
he did nail it in the drums he's a good drummer you can tell how much music moves him that's the happiest drummer I have ever seen beating the hell out of them drums with 1 hell of a smile true happiness right there loving what he does dedication right there he looks like he has a really good sense of humor he's probably really funny life of the party kind generous I always try to seethe good in people that's my opinion on Taylor that's 1guy is like to hangout with for a day I think it would be very interesting
This is bad ass beyond belief. Even if there were six guitars up there, it's not about that, it's about a decent cover of a great song by people you would not expect to remake this song. It's about the element of surprise. Come on, an alternative rock giant band like Foo Fighters, and a major country music figure Zac Brown doing a damn good version of War Pigs from Black Sabbath....what more could we ask for? Too Cool!!
I ran across this 2 weeks ago on here I was like foo fighters then saw with Zach brown war pigs cover was amazing and well performed Zach blew me away I was like holy crap he's nailing this song good I have listened to this version quite a bit the past 2 weeks awesome Taylor on the drums with that happy smile
+89kilemal I said one of the best, it's probably top 5, but if I'm in a certain mood it could be the best. Just depends. Gotta understand music brother!
Well if you think 4 guitars doing 1 one guitar job with a country singer performing a metal song is good taste then sweet as... the Faith No More cover is much better.
Even for lack of TV time and no ending solo which is the best part the song this was a great cover! Country dude killed vocals too. Excellent live cover! APPROVED!
I thought they did a good job and paid homage to a great band. It says a lot when you had a gig on Letterman and choose to do a cover. That's a great compliment to Black Sabbath.
Brilliant - never seen this before but boy, are they having a good time - love the song anyway and they all look like they having a cracking time playing that and a great job they do too :-)
Once again, let it go people, it's a good cover, it's not Sabbath, get over yourselves already. The perpetual grin on Pat's face tells the story, they are having a blast covering a band that would be at the top of their list of influences. Ben Sheppard from Soundgarden said it best.. everything we've learned we learned fro Black Sabbath.
YeaYY!!! It's a cover. You're so right!! Let them have fun and enjoy doing it instead of criticizing it. I loved it, actually, thought Zac Brown was kinda bad ass!!! Great voice, and great performance all around!!!
"Evil minds that Plot destruction. Sorcerers of death's construction." Zac stumbled a little bit on the lyrics right there. Dave probably coulda helped him out. Otherwise a pretty cool cover of a classic Sabbath hit. I, for one, loved all the guitars. The more power chords the merrier, I always say.☺
like a kid in a candy store beyond happy you can tell alot about a person by their smile the way the smile how they are smiling what's making them smile and Taylor's smile is a love filled genuine true happiness in what he's doing best drummer today
oh he's done more since then, but it sucks, so nobody knows it LOL, this, I can live with him doing; more praise to the FF though, they are just awesome musicians.
My dad goes to one of their shows every year, and shows me videos. I'm not a country fan by any means, but they are a very versatile band. If they made a pure rock album, I'd pick it up the instant it came out.
Aiden Potter he's not the best drummer of modern times. Hell he's not the best drummer of the Foo Fighters XD (very close second though, bested only by Dave)
Dave is such a down to earth and humble man. He is often called the nicest guy in rock. I love it when they bring a fan on stage to play at their live shows. That kid in the kiss make-up crushed it a couple of years ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TjVOWOKa-lY.html
Pretty cool he came all the way from being the drummer in Soundgarden to joining Food Fighters (established by Taylor Hanson I think). Rock on Food Fighters!
I see Dave, saw the RU-vid of Zac Brown doing this cover at their concerts, or he was at one of the concerts. There's RU-vid of Zac Brown Band doing Sandman, and Killing in the Name of.
