Welcome!
We are a homesteading, homeschooling family of 7. Due to recent events (job loss/career change, health issues, rising food costs, etc.) we are having a hard time making ends meet despite our best efforts at frugality. So we are tapping into our local food banks to help us feed our family. Come along as I show you what we are blessed with, what we add to it via grocery store and garden, and how I use it all to nourish our bodies.

I’m So Glad that you said that about the things about to go in the trash. I watch Mama Baird and she says the same thing. It shouldn’t be a stigmatized about going to the food pantry but there is unfortunately.

You should be able to use Pho Broth in soups and stir fries. Pho is a Vietnamese soup type thing with noodles, beef or vegetables, etc

Try soaking the mushroom jerky in water, chopping them and adding them to your stir fry or Asian veggies 🥦 🥕🥬🧄🧅🫛🫑🫚

My grandmother taught me to stuff dates with peanut butter and roll them in sugar as a special Christmas treat. That was more than 60 years ago and I still make them every year. One of my son’s favourites!

I also don't like celery, but when I throw it in to a blender and moosh it, and combine it with minced meat, then it's very good and gives a lot of flavor

Hi🌿, Sending prayers🙏, it was a nice food bank haul. Look at the packages with the meat if it says that you can heat the whole package in simmering water. That's usually the case with ready-made sous vide. Then you can serve a creamy potato gratin with the meat. It will be so good. Take care, Birgitta.🥰🍁🍂🌻

Could you please show how the heck you cut up a raw turkey? I have one in freezer and need to cut it up but clueless. And with turkeys going on sale soon I'd be taking up turkeys on the deals especially if I can learn to cut them up. That natural food coloring I used to buy for organic all natural flavored cotton candy business I had it's amazing. The chocolate covered dates are a healthy Snickers bars 😄

This pantry actually gets very few families with babies. It is mostly older folks. The lady who runs the pantry only picks up the things she knows we and the other few families with littles will use.
