I’m curious. When vacuum sealing your sugar, isn’t that the same as adding a oxygen absorber (thus making the sugar hard)? It is my understanding that just adding sugar to jars and then adding rings and lids and closing tightly works perfectly. 😊❤

Lol never thought the bag sealer that’s on the machine could be used for jars as well ..hum who knew …The people who read the booklet that comes with it ,that’s who ,lol thank you good info .

The only thing this older woman whose Hunny (in the picture here) has done the bee-raising thing, is that when reliquefying the crystallized honey ON THE STOVE, put something under the glass jars or they may break.

I made strawberry jam in March this year it had lost it’s color and gotten lighter. It was exported to some light in the basement. Is this why it got lighter in color? Now I store my half pint jars of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry jam and apple jelly in the drawers of an old desk in the basement and have started adding fruit preservative when making them. I just started making jam and jelly last year at the age of 71.

We started vacuum sealing drink mixes in individual packs and store. That way you can grab and go.

When you talked about botulism in the brown sugar I have a question. What is the difference of not putting an oxygen absorber in brown sugar or sucking all the air out with the machine? Wouldn't that be the same ending results?

One removes air, the other absorbs oxygen.

@@wayneessar7489 so if you were in a sealed tube you would rather have what? An oxygen absorber where you can suck the oxygen as needed instead of all the air being sucked out of the tube. To me it's the same results. After seeing her video I removed oxygen absorbers from 8 bags of brown sugar I just sealed with oxygen absorbers. This logic is bogus and probably should of just left the bags be.

@Wayne Essar is correct! It's a misconception that air and oxygen are the same thing. Oxygen is a component of air and only accounts for around 20% of it

Botulism only grows in moist oxygen-less environments so by removing the oxygen you risk creating a botulism prime environment. Play it safe by not using O2 absorbers with brown sugar :)

Just keep black strap molasses on hand and make my brown sugar as needed.for people who want to store brown sugar long term, get some brown bears or terracotta disks, my mom would buy a small terracotta pot, hit it with a hammer and keep the larger pieces for brown sugar as brown bears are fairly expensive, but some dollar trees have 3 pack terracotta discs.

You didn't show powered sugar. Are we to believe the info is the same as sugary powdered drinks?

Freezing powdered sugar is the easiest way to store it. If you have the room you can put the bags straight from the store in your freezer for up 2 years. I would write the date on the bag so you know how long it’s been there
