I love that, when asked if Chandler was his most treasured role, Matthew Perry said Fools Rush In was "probably my best movie". Love Salma for including that in her tribute to him on her IG page.
Another underrated Mathew Perry movie that doesn't have many reactions is The Whole Nine Yards. Not a rom-com, but it's absolutely hilarious! And it has Bruce Willis and many other well known actors.
Cassie, you don't need to apologize for getting emotional while watching movies, your heartfelt reactions are the reason I can't stop watching your channel
@Popcorn in Bed I hope to see your reaction to the movie "FLashdance" It's kind of an oldie (over 40 yrs now) but goodie. It inspired a lot of people - especially women.
Matthew Perry always said this was his favourite role he ever did. He was very proud of this movie. I'm happy others get to share in its enjoyment too. R.I.P Matty. ❤
My wife is from Mexico and we met in Korea in the military. My wife was 19 and she ended up getting pregnant. We flew back to the states and got married and then I had to go meet her family and father. I can relate to this movie. it was just like this.
I love this movie so much. The scene where she's dancing in the kitchen & hes watching her, while the dog is attacking his leg, is probably one of my favorite scenes. It was also the movie Matthew thought was his best. Ugh, it still breaks my heart & makes me cry. Rip Matthew.
I cried so hard watching this too, knowing how much Matthew Perry wanted babies of his own. He was ready and he would have had them if he’d had more time 😭😭😭
I think he fell in love with Jennifer Aniston. I mean we all did kind of...but I think he genuinely loved her. Have to wonder if he ever got over that.
@@sandpiperr It was in his book and a documentary about him. I don't remember all the details. But she essentially rejected him pretty early on. He spiraled soon after and she felt guilt over it for years. His addiction had been set in motion way before that though, obviously.
" You are everything I never knew I always wanted." That line stuck with me all these years when I saw this in theaters as a little girl. I saw it with my uncle and grandmother.
Love the part when Chris Isaacs song "I wonder" is playing , strikes a nerve in my soul, RIP dear Mathew, he had such great comedic chops ❤ Salma Hyack created in a laboratory, stunning
The Whole None Yards!!!- definitely not as adorable and sweet as this movie but he shines in it-comedy showcase movie!!!. Also staring Bruce Willis, who's story is also ending on a sad note with his diagnosis of aggressive dementia.
I was also going to mention _The Whole Nine Yards_ . I thought his comedic timing played off really well in it and there seemed to be some good chemistry at work between Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis.
The Whole 9 Yards is such a great movie and Matthew Perry is hilarious in it! I highly recommend it. Also, I think you should consider reacting to the whole Friends series! You won’t be disappointed!
I'm a 35 year old 300 pound long hair long beard man and I cry every time I watch this film. It's so perfectly executed for the genre and plot and what they were trying to do. Matthew Perry is perfect in the role and elevates the film so much more than it would've been otherwise. I can never listen to Elvis or Chris Isaak without thinking of this film. A quintessential 90s film, Christmas film, romcom, Vegas flick, and yeah even a New York movie I guess haha Thank you Cassie for the reaction I've literally been wanting you to do since I discovered your channel more than 2 years ago. ♥
Matthew Perry was asked if playing Chandler was his most treasured role or something else and he said: "I did a movie that I loved called Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek - that was probably my best movie."
I'm not really a "rom com" type of person but this was actually one of my favorites. Matthew and Salma had great chemistry together. RIP Matthew, seriously gone too soon...
This is one of my favorite movies of all time and I was so excited when I saw you were going to watch it. Thank you! Matthew Perry was one of my favorites, he will be missed terribly. "You're everything I never knew I always wanted", just one of the coolest lines ever.
Best rom-com ever!!! I rewatched this more than anything I think. This was the first time I cried though, watching after Matthew’s passing was definitely hard.
Just a point, majority of Friends episodes did not have a laugh track. It was a live audience and sometimes they had to rewrite jokes so the audience could laugh. Also they only used laugh tracks when they didnt want secret plots being leaked.
Right....from watching her for a few years now Friends seems COMPLETELY up her alley. I'd be shocked if she didn't fall in love with it.@@shanedaley6236
I loved this movie when it came out. I saw a recent interview with Matthew Perry before he died and he was asked what he most proud of in his career and he said it was this movie.
When I bought my first DVD player in the 90s, it came with 6 free DVDs. This was the best of them. I immediately fell in love with Salma Hayek! ❤❤❤❤ Don't worry about the tears. I was crying along with you the entire time. This one always gets me in the feels, and the music is incredible. Elvis sang at your wedding. Cool! 😎 My fave was actually the Dean Martin song. And the image of Salma Hayek in that silk negligee has been burned into my retinas for decades. 😍😍
Girl I've seen this movie so many times over the years! This was my first watch since Matthew's passing and I SOBBED with you! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Perry was an excellent leading man in the vein of Jimmy Stewart, Tom Hanks, Eddie Murphy, Will Smith and Bruce Willis (when he was not doing action). It was a shame his movie career never took off - but this film showed his charisma, intelligence and humility. At least we have this one to enjoy this very talented actor with what was and what could have been.
Probably a case of "Chandler" being too strong a character to overcome, similar to how David Schwimmer is "Ross" no matter what he does, when he appeared in Band of Brothers it really took me out of the story for a while.
@@HDreamerSchwimmer was pretty obnoxious as Capt. Sobel. You never thought you could hate "Ross", but you he made you at least not like him as Sobel. I wonder if Perry addiction issues slowed him. down, but he has been in at 2 or 3 other movies. Then again, all the friends have only done a smattering of on screen stuff since. Not sure what they did behind the scenes.
@@HDreamer Possibly. Schwimmer only just barely got out from under that even a decade after Friends. He was great as Robert Kardashian in The People VS OJ Simpson, but I still knew people who said "I can't watch it because I just can't take David Schwimmer seriously!" Oh well, at least Friends made them enough money to be set the rest of their lives.
I didn't fully get that she was a sex symbol until I saw From Dusk Til' Dawn. Knew she was beautiful obviously... but everything else I'd seen her in she was fairly covered up. But...damn. Props to her Tai Bo instructor or whoever.
As someone who was a fan of "Friends", I often wondered exactly what you wondered Cassie. Namely why didn't Matthew Perry have a huge career? Now we know. The demons prevented him from fully realizing his talents and abilities. It's always wonderful to see one of your reactions because you truly react. Thank you for that.
Thanks for the info. I'd wondered about the significance of that particular scene, but was unaware of any particular reason for it. Again, thanks for the clarification from one who apparently knows!
Boy, I haven't watched this movie in literally decades. Underrated movie. I remembered a fair amount of it, some of it came back in waves. I was probably about 3/4 of the way through before I remembered that the actor who plays Matt's father in the movie is his real life dad.
I have a tradition of revisiting the work of actors, writers, and directors who pass. I agree that it's a fitting tribute, and this was one that I watched when I heard about Matthew Perry.
Cassie you're crying, I'm crying I'll bet everyone's crying. I love your reaction heart and rawness of emotion. I had a long work week and this movie reaction I believe was just what the doctor ordered. Thank you for your channel and for your authenticity! 💚
honestly i expected the emotions, it caught me in the feels too when i finally watched this a couple of weeks ago. i love rom-coms. i enjoy the reviews that overfill you and your sisters hearts. the best!
This has always been one of my favorite movies! They had such great chemistry! Matthew Perry was actually asked once what was his most favorite role he has ever done and he said he loved this movie and his best role! R.I.P Matthew Perry!
The Whole Nine Yards is another Matthew Perry classic. He and Bruce Willis had a perfect yin/yang dynamic. They should have made more movies or a show together.
Cassie, no one who watches your channel for more than three seconds would ever think you're trying to capatilise on anything. You don't have a malicious bone in your body. I'm so glad you found this wonderful film. It's a stock movie for my sister and I. Must have watched it together 20 times. And, hopefully, you'll get to other movies Matthew's been in, and give Friends a real chance. He was always the best part of that show. It'll get you, I promise. It gets everyone.
This has been one of my favorite rom-coms since it came out. It's SO much fun and endearing. If you've never seen Blast From The Past, i think you'd enjoy that too - another of my favs.
I also saw this for the first time recently after hearing about Matthew Perry's death, and I had the same back-and-forth reaction as you did. He was so adorable in this, but then you just feel so sad that he's not here anymore and that he dealt with so many demons in his life. He claimed this was his best movie, and I do wish he'd done more rom-coms because he had the charm for it.
This is an underrated classic. I love the cactus in the behind scene!!! I haven’t accepted that Matthew Perry is gone yet, it hasn’t sunk in for me. Also, great choice for a we’d song! I think you can see why I love it too! 😊
I am a HUGE Matty Perry fan for ALL of my life... Since I saw him on all my favorite TV shows to Friends and all of his films!!! I don't blame anyone for honoring him and this film!!! OMG OMGOMG!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Thank you for watching this and allowing me to watch it again with you!!! This film is probably one of the BEST love stories of ALL TIME! ❤ It makes me emotional and watching with you reacting the same as me this was the best 37 minutes of my life... I really needed this more than you know! I so pray for an Isabel someday! Thank you for reminding me!!! HAPPY FRIDAY!😁
Loved your reaction ❤ I forgot how many great lines there are in this movie! I think my favorite is, "you will never know love unless you surrender to it" great sage advice!
I can't even remember what drew me to watch this movie originally, but I absolutely LOVED it. The chemistry between Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek is phenomenal, and the ending always makes me misty-eyed. Soon as I saw that Cassie was reacting to it, I'm like "Yup. She's gonna love it." 😊 I never really got into FRIENDS, but I loved Matthew's role as Matt Albie in the short-lived Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip. Aaron Sorkin's fast dialogue suited him perfectly, and his back-and-forth with all the characters was fun to watch.
Bravo Cassie, excellent reaction! I’ve always loved this movie. Highly underrated! Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek are so good together! I loved when you said, “They’re in love, married on a mountaintop!” when they get married in Vegas, not knowing that they end up getting married on a mountaintop at the end. ❤
Fools Rush In is one of my favorite Matthew Perry movies. I'm glad you liked it. I would like to suggest two movies which I love and think you will too. I haven't seen either be reacted to by anyone. They are truly hidden gems. 1) "Undercover Blues" - a romantic action comedy released in 1993 starring Kathleen Turner (from Romancing the Stone), Dennis Quaid, and Stanley Tucci. 2) "Bedazzled" - a romantic comedy released in 2000 starring Brandon Fraser (from The Mummy trilogy) and Elizabeth Hurley
Wonderful reaction and a nice tribute to Matthew Perry. I'm still in shock that he is no longer with us. In case you missed it in the chat, "Friends" was filmed in front of a live studio audience at Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, CA. I was in the audience for the Season 6 episode "The One with Ross; Teeth". That one did have taped laugh overlaid on re-shoots. So, really not a traditional laugh track, it was the audience laughter from when the scenes were originally taped. Ralph Lauren (the clothing designer) was supposed to be in the episode, but when they filmed it, they had a stand-in. They re-shot the scenes later with the actual Ralph Lauren.
“I was very moved… when Matthew shared… how much he loved 'Fools Rush In’ … how he thought that film we did together was probably his best movie. Throughout the years, he and I found ourselves reminiscing about that meaningful time in our lives with a deep sense of nostalgia and gratitude... You are gone much too soon, but I will continue to cherish your silliness, your perseverance, and your lovely heart. Farewell, sweet Matthew, we will never forget you.” -Salma Hayek Pinault
@ndrewmarin... Thank>you< for sharing Selma's heartfelt words in tribute to Matthew after his passing. And it's a special grace they shared… the memories of making this movie together and, even more, of the appreciation and friendship between them.
Oh my gosh, I love this. I have watched so many good/great movies with you for the 1st time. This one was sad because of Matthew Perry but at the same time a wonderful movie. As always I felt like I was watching with a friend. Our wedding song was 'The wedding song' (There is love) by Paul Stookey.
Great reaction Cassie, I live in Palm Springs, and every year there is an international film festival in January with lots of big movie stars attending. I go stand in the fan section and watch the movie stars arrive on the red carpet, sometimes a few extra nice stars will come over and say hello to us and take pictures , and shake hands. Salma was one of those nice stars a few years ago. She shook my hand, said hello , and posed for a picture and then asked me if I got a good pic. She was so nice!!! She is like you, beautiful inside and out!!
I read/watched somewhere recently after his passing that he (Matthew Perry) said Fools Rush In was his favorite movie he was in. I don't know the truth about that, but my GF at the time loved it and I did too after watching it. Perry was great in this movie! Edit: No apologies needed... such an awesome movie.
I’ve loved this movie ever since it was released. It came out the year after me and my wife got married. I never cried watching it before. Today I did. RIP Matthew Perry.
This was a really cool movie to enjoy, more romantic comedy like this will be: "Only You" from 1994 with Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr. "Just Married" from 2003 with Ashton Kutcher, Brittany Murphy. "Excess Baggage" from 1997 with Alicia Silverstone, Benicio Del Toro. and maybe my favorite... "Stranger Than Fiction" from 2006 with Will Ferrell, Emma Thompson. All great movies :D
You got to watch 'The Ron Clark Story'. Based on a true story, Perry plays a high school teacher Ron Clark, who takes the challenge of teaching a bunch of unruly students in an American public school. So underrated a movie. Must watch.
I'm so so happy that this movie flew under your radar, because I absolutely loved your reaction to this ❤️ ❤ I was crying along with you at the end there, I think I needed it too!
Thanks for the reaction. This is a movie my wife and me always enjoy watching. We're a (long-time) married couple from two cultures and two different continents. Makes it even more fun and for some parts even more relatable. Fun fact: Before the movie was filmed, there was no Arizona/Nevada "border" painted on the highway that spans the Hoover Dam. When it was added for the movie, local officials decided to keep it intact after the filming of the movie. But the writing is long gone now...
So glad you reacted to this delightful film! One of my all-time favorite romcoms. Great chemistry between the leads, and believable things keeping them apart.
Matty as his "Friends" call him was such a spectacular person. My ex wife and I loved this movie enormously and shared it with our daughters... Your reaction was perfect and as many times as I've watched this but especially now the emotions were still there. Thanks Cassie❤
I'm not a big fan of romcoms, and I really hate to admit this, but there's something about this movie... I love it and rewatching it through your eyes makes me love it even more ❤
Absolutely LOVED your reaction to this movie. You hit the nail on the head, this came out after "Friends" had been on the air for at least 3 seasons and Matthew was in the grip with his battle of addiction. The sad part was he had extremely great comedic timing. If you really want to know "signs" on how art imitates life, one of his first roles was on "Growing Pains" where his character deals with drinking and the consequences of that action. It made a small profit (grossing $42M on a $20M budget) and the on-screen chemistry between Matthew & Selma was en fuego!
Great reaction to a favorite movie of mine. My wife and I loved watching Friends for all 10 seasons and we got to know them so well, they felt like our friends. We were lucky enough to watch a taping of the show. It was filmed in front of a live audience and most of the laughs you hear were genuine reactions. In editing they would sometimes punch up the laughter using a laugh track when the audience reaction wasn't enough. This was usually when they had to do a second take and, although encouraged to repeat the same laugh, obviously it was hard when we already knew the joke. RIP "Matty". Your contributions to making the world a happier place was wonderful.
God Bless to you from my mom and I in So. Cal USA 🇺🇸 RIP Matthew Perry he will be missed! Love Salma Hayek. She’s a beautiful lady inside and out! Please check out “You’ve Got Mail,” “No Reservations,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “Sleepless In Seattle,” “Music and Lyrics,” “Book Club,” “Two Weeks Notice,” and “Because I Said So.” All some of my moms and mine favorite rom coms! ❤️❤️ Take good care and keep up the amazing work! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏 Love to all reading this from wherever you are tuning in from! ❤️❤️
THIS was so GREAT TO WATCH!!! Cathy and I haven't seen this movie since we watched it in the theater when we were first married!!! I forgot how much I loved this movie!! Cathy still "meh it's Ah'ight". Lol. I'm Cassie you brought it all back around for me, this is the Matthew Perry movie I forgot I needed. So clever, all the great family dynamics, no villains in this one at ALL! Even the other/former love interests are good people. This is such a forgotten treasure. I hope your influence reignites it for a new generation. This kind of movie is timeless. Thank you for this!!!
The blonde woman in the beginning with short hair and cigarette is Elizabeth Broderick She portrayed Zelda Spellman in the ABC tv Sabrina the teenage witch. And the songs in this movie is good. When they first sleep together the song playing was Vanessa Daou. From the 1996 album Slow to Burn. Song was Two to Tangle.
I never really watched Friends but I watched this movie a lot when I was younger. And I ended up watching this movie for the first time in many years like 2 weeks before Matthew Perry passed away. RIP Matthew Perry.
Idk if this is going to get a lot of views but it's one of the best of the genre and a welcome addition to the channel's library as well as Cassie's personal library. Lots more great romcom's still out there too! RIP Matthew Perry.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I watch this every year. Great cast & great script writing. Just a wonderful relatable movie.
Thank you for covering this one Cassie, it's a really fun movie. Matthew Perry portrayed my favourite character on my favourite sitcom of all-time. Friends ran through pretty much my entire 20's and Chandler Bing was an absolutely hilarious icon for awkward but good-hearted guys everywhere. I will never not miss him. 🤣😭 Also, I'm not sure that Salma Hayek isn't the most beautiful woman in the history of the planet.😍
As soon as I saw the movie title, I knew Cassie was gonna be a wreck. :D I can quote whole chunks of this movie. Thoroughly underrated rom-com. RIP Matthew Perry.
Agreed on all points. I watched it last year for the first time in years, and I was surprising myself at how many sayings I use that are from this movie.
This is a GREAT MOVIE! Was so happy when I saw that this was the next reaction. I can't believe you haven't seen this before. Definitely a great RomCom to add to your list. Hope you enjoy it!😁
Saw the promo for this film on TV shows when it came first out in the theaters back in the 90s. The film script was actually based on one of the film's scriptwriter's love story, on how she met her husband and the clash between their two cultures that they had to overcome in their relationship.
Would LOVE to see Cassie react to another Mathew Perry movie, The Whole Nine Yards. A hilarious underrated movie that also happens to have Bruce Willis in it.
This and his other romcom Three to Tango are some of my favourite romcoms. I'm glad someone is finally doing one of them because it seems they are largely forgotten.
