FC Schalke 04 was my favorite club to manage in 22. Secured them promotion and a top 5 finish in my first two seasons and got the sack the next. This was after starting with BvB and (unfairly) getting sacked my first season. My greatest achievement was doing the double over my former club with their hated rival. Great storylines this game creates. Excited for your next FM series!

Fantastic video! Maybe late to the party for this video but definitely given me some ideas. I’m a Eintracht Frankfurt fan but wanted to change it up this year and thinking doing a new save so this video has certainly helped!

Some interesting stuff there boss. I've noticed 3 keepers that are potential penalty takers in Germany. Fejzic at Braunschweig, Neuer at FC Bayern and Seimen(🤭) at Stuttgart II.

Guttentag Herr Llama. An enjoyable look through the divisons as always. Personally I've had a previous save with Herta which went well so they would be the team for me. Sadly FM can't quite make the board act with such ineptitude as IRL but it would still be quite a challenge.

Used to start as Hertha every iteration of the game until their expectations skyrocketed and they got financial muscle. Might have to be Union Berlin for that gradual club build Berlin experience.

Still bothers me that SI haven't implemented the Regional 4th tier. There are so many interesting, storied clubs down there, especially from the former GDR - clubs like Lokomotiv Leipzig, Chemnitzer, Rot-Weiss Erfurt, Chemie Leipzig, and Carl-Zeiss Jena.

I would agree. Germany is far too big a league not to have the fourth tier included

@@FMLlama Even the 5th tier have some absolute gems, such as six-time GDR winner 1. FC Frankfurt. Once you get to the 6th tier it does get a little anonymous, however.

@@TheRadPlayer I think it's odd that Germany and Italy don't have a fourth tier when nations such as Sweden do (no offence meant to Sweden, but I'd have thought there are still professional clubs in Germany's 4th tier)

@@FMLlama The way I understand it is that the Regionalliga is similar to the National League in that it is a different entity, and so I do not think SI have the rights to have it in the game. Much like how it took forever to get the Bundesliga.

From a German's perspective, I've got one more club to add to this otherwise very nice and varied list, which is the 1. FC Kaiserslautern. They finally made it to 2. Bundesliga again after having spent some agonizing years in 3. Liga. It's a (not so rich) club with a rich history, being the only one to this day, that had been promoted into 1. Bundesliga and directly won the championship in 1998, like Leicester managed to achieve decades later in England. Their stadium, throning upon the Betzenberg - also known as "Betze" - is still one of the most intimidating locations to play away at, with Kaiserslautern's passionate and noisy supporters! Might be a stupid question, but what would happen if a 2nd team from a top flight club got into the same league?

Not a stupid question at all. In most nations, they have a rule where 2nd teams can't be promoted to the top division. In Germany, I think the restriction is that 2nd teams can't go higher than the 3rd tier, so if Dortmund's 2nd team won 3.Liga, it would actually be the team in second place that gets promoted, even though Dortmund's second team get to celebrate winning the league!
