Mitch is one of the best perimeter hockey players in the NHL. The guys who win in the playoffs go harder to the harder areas and thrive.

🎯 He’s one of the top soft skilled players in the league. Marner is easily a $9.5M? regular season player, probably more, and Marner is also a $3.5M dollar postseason player. A good complimentary piece on a legit contender.

Say what you will about PLD, he actually admitted that he needed to be better in the exit interview. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but seeing the Leaf’s star players dance around the idea and not actually taking accountability is pretty illuminating.

Great channel and great show as always. I worked In silicon valley for almost 30 years at a number of companies you've probably heard of. I was in the marketing department. The PR department is normally the team that comes up with official responses in good times and in bad... When something bad happens at companies that don't know what they're doing (like the Leafs) they tell you nothing, or they lie to you. Then they wait for 2 weeks. Not one week. Not 3 weeks. But 2 weeks, because another controversy will come up to take the limelight, and you're off the hook. At this point, I'm thinking that the Leafs probably won't say much during the off-season, and then we will see the exact same cast of characters back next year. YAY! We need to figure out a way to hit them where it hurts, in the pocketbook, but that will never happen, because we are all f****** idiots! Go Leafs...

Joel Quenneville?!… let pensioners stay pensioners please. Especially that one 😳. The leafs as a team need fresh blood in a less dramatic way. Marner out = some good money in and also other D contracts etc. Keefe talked like it was his last interview and look at the Oilers… Knoblauch got in and not much else was even done to the team but it had a huge impact. Let’s stay practical and up to date with coaching 😎

Let's add Marner to Kardi and Kessel to the list of scapegoats the media and fans run out of town. These two players now have four Stanley Cup between them after leaving town. How many Cups have the Leafs won since they left town. How many players or assest have help the Leafs win after the trades. How many players or assets are still in the Leafs organization. The answer is they lost both trades and will loose any Marner trade.

Where was the offence missing? Power play. Why was the PP good during regular season, but bad in playoffs? Playoff PK approach is much more aggressive with defense closing out fast to take away zone entry and time and space. The Leafs PP was unable to set up in ozone, unable to get into the middle of the ice, and unable even to get shots on goal. The PP lacked player motion and puck movement to move the defense out of formation. The PP holds the puck too long with stagnant player movement, so nothing was generated. Without any PP goals, the only other way to sore at even strength is by strong defense to cause turnovers that they can counter-attack on the rush.

I'm open to the idea that Marner came back from the ankle sprain too soon. Just watching him skate, he couldn't make those turns that make him valuable. A real down side of his play in this playoffs was chasing down pucks. He had been a master of forcing turnovers in the O-zone corners, but not this year. That aside, the leafs can offer Marner something like 8 yrs at $7M per year and stick to 'that's the best offer'. If that doesn't make Marner warm and fuzzy, he might me more amendable to a trade.

Buy Mitch and Tavares out and move on - if they won’t wave. They each have 1 year to go. Both of them get giant bonuses on July 1st - then their salaries are cheap. Tavares would cost $303,333 this year and next, while Marner would cost $258,333 this year and next. you'd actually save a little less than a million bucks next year. You’re stuck with their cap hits next year no matter what. But you’d be able to go and get two better contributors and test them in big roles by spending Brodie & Samsonov money to pay them - then the following year, you’d have almost $25M in cap space to continue the progress they’d move on with next year. I’d rather pay them all the money now and be able to move forward and find better, long term solutions starting next season - rip the expensive bandaids off ASAP - if you don’t expect either one to be on the team in 2026.

When people say the core should be broken up, it's like Matthews is not part of the core. To me he is a problem. He disappears once the playoffs start. He had one goal in 5 games. Leaf nation was euphoric about him 2 weeks ago trying to score 70. It is like 70 goals was the leaf's Stanley Cup. It has been 8 years. In 55 playoff games he has 23 goals. Not poor, but certainly not what we should expect. Matthews is part of the problem that Leaf fans refuse to believe. I would shop him. His contract is not going to age well.

He didn’t choose his words wisely but in NO WAY did Mitch call themselves Gods for crying out loud. He pretty much was saying they are treated like gods by the team and fan base. He’s not wrong they are and would be even more so if they win the cup. The sad thing is with them knowing that not sure how the heck these guys don’t do whatever it takes to win a cup. It's well-known that Darren Ferris, Marner's agent, has a history of having his players opt for unrestricted free agency after their contract expires. Check the history. Marner's going nowhere. Especially as this situation was well expected by the Maple Leafs. That's why they overpaid Nylander and Matthews. There are no discounts for playing in Toronto. There is only a history of overpaying their talent. Funny to see how there is so much venom directed at Marner, while the media is excused for blaming Toronto fans for their losses. The media is only paying fantasy GM.

Get a real coach - hold onto Mitch - see what that guy does when someone holds him accountable. His best playoff years came with Babs behind the bench imo. Use JT's money next year. Unless he wants more than Willy.

Accountability can do nothing to help Marner, his style just doesn’t translate well to playoffs. He needs to get stronger, work on the areas necessary to be productive in the playoffs and be willing to change. He’s done.

life long leaf fan born in 85. the last year other than Matthews the leafs had a first round pick. I am just sickened from this team from head to toe hate the leafs right now. I cant believe what MLSE stands for. They charge u up the ass for garbage product and I'm done. I waited with my 14 year old son for game 7 tale gate. Guess what we didn't even get the option, I emailed and if course no response they were for Bieber and wealthy parents and children. The fact that you have to be a vip to get tail back seats on road games to charging 4000 a home game for a team that doesn't even know what to do? Who they are ? IM absolutely done with the 🤡 show😄 IM DONE WITH THE CLOWN SHOW ITS REALLY JUST SICK SICK SICK!!!!!! YOU WANT ME BACK ON BOARD CLEAN HOUSE AND HELL FUCKING NO WHO WOULD WATCH A BRUINS GAME, after that. Marner’s playoff points are incredibly misleading, regular season point totals also, but to lesser extent. Playing the most minutes of any forward every night, playing on the wing, getting prime PP minutes and playing with arguably the best goal scorer in the world for most of his career has all artificially inflated Marner’s value. Babcock turned out to be right about him.

You’re the one who should be doing some more research instead of thinking your amateur opinion is above them all. Put aside the pros, it doesn’t take a genius to see that Marner’s style doesn’t work well in the playoffs. You need to rewatch the games or get a new prescription in your Dubas glasses.

Sorry but I don’t agree with trading Marner talk. The coach deserves the blame for the Marner situation. You put a rookie coach in that never managed his players. What does a good coach do when you have a player not meeting expectations? Well, we saw what Keefe did. About as much as he did for Brodie in the regular season and the PP in the playoffs. Or the failing offense. Nothing. It’s the coaches job to get the best out of a player. Instead, they ran back the same coach who got the entire team underperforming in every single round. Yes, even the Tampa series they had to luck out 3 OT games. Marner played good under Babcock in the playoffs or did we forget that one? Player mismanagement should have been a firing offense after the Montreal series. Instead they ran back the same coach for two more seasons with the same results and backed that up with putting suspect goaltending in net every year. Then fans look at the players to blame. Which players played above expectations in the playoffs? Think about it… the coach is responsible. Marner is a top 10 talent that the coaching badly mishandled. Get a new coach, give him (or her?) a clean slate (which it is logically) and see what they can do. It's a talented core proven time and again, and JT and Mitch are are coming off the books next season. You've waited for a bunch of years, what's one more? Use the money that's coming off the books this off season and go grab a balanced defensive core and hope Woll isn't going to Humpty Dumpty and give Jones $2,000,000 to be his mentor, and or be one of the 1a, 1b duo. The linch pin is the playoffs and I'm not convinced it's entirely the player's fault; let's just say it's a cocktail of ineffectual coaching and lacklustre disciples. Keefe is not Jesus, but even Jesus had his doubters.
