Hey, a tip from me is to use those springed shoetrees which are half a size bigger than the shoes. This way there will be much more tension on the leather, and the shoe will break in much faster.

I've just purchased my first pairs and I'm really falling for this brand. Love these shoes. The last are a perfect fit for me and oddly, I love the stiffness and tough break in feeling. I move very well in them. Seems like they were made to fit my feet. I'm looking at the MTO monks they released yesterday.

I have several Meermins. To the break in period, for me it's definitely on the 10 wears and it makes my heel bleed. It's mostly on the heel and perhaps where my small toe is. With one particular pair of chelseas, I wore them every day for 3 weeks to be able to break them in and I had to put bandages on my heel.... they are now one of my most comfortable boots though

I own 3 pair. I did have to get all 3 pair exchanged for different pair due to QC issues but once resolved I really do like them. The cognac double monks, the black Freudenberg LM and the burgundy Norvegese welt LM. The monks took the longest to break and like most people through the heel and left little toe. The Freudenberg adelaides broke in fairly quickly. The New Rey last is also nice looking in my opinion and fits my foot very well. With strict shoe tree use the vamp has very minimal creasing and breaks perfectly. The burgundy whole cuts were very comfortable on the very first wear which I did not expect. The finishing work is a bit sloppy but the color and that Elton last really does look fantastic. The folks at Meermin are a bit slow on the customer service side of things and fluid communication is a bit of an issue. All in all I really do love them.

I live in Madrid and even tho i have not buy any meermin pair yet, ive had the opportunity to check them out in their store and they are great. Maybe you dont know them but at that price range i would also suggest to take into consideration Berwick 1707, they are open channel rather than closed, but them are crafted entirely in Spain, not china and Spain as Meermin

I used to be a big shoe freak and had many dress shoes and ppl. well more men would be like whoa and didn’t understand. So after 20 years, I’m glad more men are into quality shoes and have many. Well, I didn’t actually completely quit and was doing smeaker collecting for the last 20!uears. That too I started around 1998 and I was one of the first ones to buy the classics Nikes when they were new and buying doubles and triples and many times never wearing and that was unheard of back in the 90’s. But now everyone is buying sneakers to flip and not wear and treat them like just for collecting and not wear. So when someone like myself do stuff that’s not normal, just wait bc maybe I’m onto something ppl. have not figured out yet. ‘ Many ppl. are followers and even with the dress shoes collecting, when we used to buy shoes, they were different from what everyone is wearing, but now it seems everyone is looking to get the same shoes. That’s gonna take me awhile to adjust to bc I hated what everyone is wearing and always had to outside whatever everything me is wearing in the past. But that’s now hard to do bc many of these shoes are not cheap. Meaning I don’t like all my shoes and clothes that are classic looking and need to take it beyond or I feel I’ve conform to the norm.

You listed your Meermin Elton sizing as 10.5uk is that correct? You’ve got loake on the tower last listed as 9.5uk, same as me and they fit me just right. I ordered a couple of pairs Meermin on the Elton last in 10uk and find them a tiny bit big?
@wishoeguy
@wishoeguy 3 года назад
That’s a fair point. My size has been normalizing and I’ve decided that they were too big on the Meermins. That said I’ve been buying 10UK on my latest Meermins (Elton, RUI, and Hiro) and they’ve been pretty good. I have a ROK that’s a bit big at 10 UK. I’m not sure why you found it big but since my feet are different sizes I’m pretty hard to fit in RTW.

I have AE 5TH Ave in 8.5 E and Thursday boots in 8.5 D, what size would you recommend for size in Meermins HOK last? Appreciate it.
@wishoeguy
@wishoeguy 3 года назад
7UK will likely be fine but 7.5 if your toes are hitting the edge of your 8.5. The shoes are quite roomy.

I wear 9.5E ,what size will work for me in Meermin?
@wishoeguy
@wishoeguy 3 года назад
Depends on the shoe. Probably a 9 in most lasts. I was an 11.5E and took 11 in Hiro, Elton, RUI and it worked fine. A little long but needed it for the width.
