This number - For Sephora - composed by Stochelo Rosenberg is one of the most beautiful standards of gypsy music ever written. It has a very simple form but a beautiful melody over which any musician who can improvise can unfold. Birelli Lagrene plays an incredibly beautiful chorus here.
Sir: I could not agree with you more, in fact, I reckon if one dies and hears "Heavenly Music" then THIS (For Sephora) would certainly be my choice ! I have followed the Rosenbergs for decades and I never tire of their amazing music.
I like Bireli's solo because he does not pick the racing-mode. He plays relaxed and doesn't have to prove anything. It is just a mature and very tasteful solo. Thus he allows the song to gain some dramaturgic tension with Stochelo's solo who is doing the high-speed stuff.
The thing i love about this tune is, apart from its beautiful melody, is that Nous'che's rhythm is just so fucking superb and solid. he's the kind of player every band wished they had.
So true, steady as a clock, clean an light at the same time, great touch and feel, and always keeping the good intensity and drive. It's easy to find out when you play with (or listen to) a great rhythm player: the soloist shines and you almost "forget" (not in a pejorative way) about the rhythm guy because everything's perfect, and then you pay attention and you notice how accurate it is and how the rhythm job is done. Add to this an equally great double bass player, let's not forget Nonnie he's awesome on every track, plus a great rhythm or solo guitar player cannot do much if the bass isn't solid like rock) Nonnie's drive and lines are always impeccable... so you get the Rosenberg rhythm section, which is the dream team.
Fantastique! Apart from the superb, masterful interpretation, it is delightful to see Stochelo having fun while Bireli 'plays' with the song. Other guys might have gone nuts over this, but not Stochelo here. True music fun when Bireli misses the note and starts laughing, and the group follows ! :)
Well then happy new year and play it again another million times in 23 ! It's a great great version. Viva Stochelo, Nonnie, Nousche & of course the one and only Biréli !
@@akoharrey Exactly right! Scales and arps are just a means to an end to help musicians create lines. Hearing and feeling the lines like Bireli is the end game.
I like this video so much... between bireli's solo which is just amazingly tasteful, his fail later and to finish the little bend on G at the end that makes its effect... always a pleasure, even for the 243rd time.
I caught all those things! Guess you're a musician too... Great to see their reactions to each other. Bireli plays a beautiful melody in his solo with no flash. He does a slapstick reaction to his mistake. I saw Larry Coryell play the wrong note once and yell "FUCK!!!" Anyway, Sephora is a wonderful tune & the interplay here was very enjoyable.

+MusicMC1. Thank you - I will follow-up - Hope to enjoy this Live one day. USA - Clearly sets a bar of Perfection in both Interpretation and Skill. Best wishes for - "the Stage of their dreams".
Bireli laughing... at himself... on stage... What a wonderful and courageous human being! No wonder his musical expression is so free and unbothered. Respect for this man!
Bireli's guitar here is just about the most pornographically beautiful piece of wood I've ever seen. I think it's a Hahl, but I can't find that model on their website. Anyone know?
this is on the fly creativity..you can see how much fun they are having..just brilliant players playing with each other...and we can see how human they are...just Brilliant!
No matter whether he is playing gypsy or straight ahead jazz, I am always completely captivated when Bireli is playing. The way in which he develops his solos are storytelling and masterful. His phrasing is always beautiful to me and there are few that can move me emotionally the way he does.
Thank you ! Great great music indeed ! in the same divine style, have you listened to Bireli's solo on "Tears" on the Djangologists album ? There's a clip on my channel. Get the whole album, it's killer !!! Have a nice day !
can't get enough of this one. I was lucky to see it life yesterday!! Great, great composition. I play the rythme part every day and like it more and more.
For the guitarist who takes the first couple of choruses: Thanks for respecting the melody and waiting a good while/ resisting the low hanging fruit of "I can play 32nds quicker than you can" problem. Melody is king. Always has been.
No,no, he is not pissed. Those pro-musicians do not think about music in terms of territories that have to be defended against someone. And it is not about who is getting more or less attention either. Bands who think this way sound like amateur crap. The good ones have fun being part of something that sounds great in total.
Stochelo plays so sweetly! You can see how they are all in awe of birelis technical ability when he drops his e string on the tuning peg mid melody (4.39) He has crazy skills. Still I love stochelos style.
11 ans plus tard, ca me fait toujours aussi marrer Bireli qui éclate de rire quand il attaque le dernier theme a coté ! 11 years later, I still smile when Bireli laughing missing the last head !
Wow what a number! I love the way this starts with just a simple beautiful melody; then doesn’t get lost in over embellishment. Some very nice harmony going on later between Stochelo and Bireli. Really can’t find adequate words to describe this number other than once you’ve heard it you want to listen to it again.
Bocsika!!!!!!!!. De én mint cimbalmos ezt hallom. Egyébként----a kisérö gitàros tisszta szar.--. Mert csak az alapokra tàmaszkodik. Bizonyàra ezt màr mindenki tudja.--de sajnos vannak olyan akordok is ami végig kiséri a dallamot. Jellen esetben a gitàr jàték szólójàt.
Hah! wot nonsense. We all know what it would sound like without rhythm no matter where the camera goes? Birelli is such a genius, any one sharing the stage with him as an equal is a giant. All these guys are great guitar-players. All you can do is wonder and admire .
wow... first bireli solo i ever saw, where he didnt wank around fretboard, just simple easy melodies without the "show of hands" :-) thumps up, i really liked his solo!
