“In the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium, there is only war. ” This is the slogan of Game Workshop’s Warhammer 40K Sci-Fi universe. The Warhammer 40K universe is set at the end of the 41st and the start of the 42nd millennia. While this fictional universe is inhabited by countless factions (some human and some non-human), the main protagonist is the Imperium of Man. This is a vast, galaxy-spanning, human civilization ruled by the God-Emperor and besieged by countless threats such as aliens, traitors and demons. In order to defend its vast domain, the Imperium of Man employs armies equipped with vast numbers of highly advanced, and some not so not quite so highly advanced, vehicles. One of these vehicles is the huge Macharius heavy tank.

I always like how the caliber size of Battlecannon in 40K are always said to be 120mm like modern tanks. Even though you can roll the heads of Guardsmen down the bores of Battlecannon with space to spare. Apparently in the far future human heads are only 4 inches in diameter.

Imperial tanks are huge offenders on the cartoonishly exaggerate proportions. I frankly hate it despite loving the universe. The other day I saw an illustrated image that was supposed to be a "cursed" tank, an Abrams turret on a Mark IV tank. And my first thought was "That's not cursed, that's just a Leman Russ that's been correctly and realistically reproportioned."

@@wolfehoffmann2697 honestly I dig the 28mm heroic scale aesthetic of old 40k, especially the tanks and infantry of the guard. It’s artistic and exaggerated for effect, not meant to be a totally realistic and accurate representation IMO.

Well, if the tank often gets subjected to blasphemous Chaos sorcery, Tau railguns, Tyranid acids, Eldar D-cannons (which teleport the target to space hell or tear it apart), Necron "gauss cannons" (disintegrators) and Ork "Lifta-Droppas" (giant tractor beams that can throw a tank half a kilometer) it isn't going to survive more.

Those are heavy bolters (autocannons with heat rounds) on the sponsons dude, not heavy stubbers.

The default sponson option in the tabletop ar the heavy stubbers. You can replace them with heavy bolters or heavy flamers.

i would say kind of a lazy design because of the obvious flaws like, ww1 era suspension setup, SPONSINS, duel barrel (because of course it has to be duel barrel), almost no sloping in it's armour, too big of a gun to elevate or depress to properly engage targets, and their excuse? armour that is stronger than steel. that's it. and everybody's talking about how modern tanks are outmatched by it because it's SO STRONG that it is unfazed by our seemingly infective APFSDS projectiles. and i think that i'm ranting now. edit: BOLTED ARMOUR PLATES?!?!?! these guys are futuristic!! HOW ARE THEY THAT GOD DAMN DUMB. THEY LITERALLY TESTED THESE DESIGNS

most of the humanitys tech was wiped out during the war against the men of Iron and the ad mech cant make new designs only modify existing ones IE the IOMs MBT is a modified tractor

@@isimiel3405 i see, but how long have these tanks been in service? and did they conduct like, ANY firing tests? i feel like they would steer away from bolted armour when they realized that whenever the tanks were hit, the bolts would come lose at deadly speed and punch holes in the crew, and STILL, why the hell haven't they done anything to improve the design, they just look at a rusted MK-5 heavy tank and were just like: "hmm. put a t-34-85 on the top and then that should be good." these are the same fucking people that build massive starships capable of inter-dimensional travel but they can't build a tactically capable armoured fighting vehicle.

They cant, the majority of major tech is from the crusade era or beyond, no one can make any major tech like that anymore, and as for the armor thing you clearly havent even glanced at the universe to realise that sloped armor wont do jack in a world full of insect warheads capable of burrowing through armor and ultra advanced atom incinerator’s. 40ks armor is built for a diffrent age which frankly makes things like rivets trivial in most cases.

@@jerryjerry5321 i dont get where your coming from here, you say the imperial guard should just run amok with no armor? Armor is armor. it is not something you use to tank damage from all sides its to remind you not to fuck up, imperial armor is serviceable and thats the point. Besides the guard doesnt just fight eldritch abominations, they genocide small races and quell insurrection armor still matters.
