She reminds me a little of Twinkie and Karen because she has the ability to make her voice really soft, sweet, and pretty, but also has the growls, and the power. She is an exceptional vocalist, her runs are perfect, and not all over the place. Love it!

It's sad that people only know singers like Kim Burrell in the gospel world and try singing like her. Kim is awesome but I prefer this type of talent form Kim McFarland.
She kills this everytime. Even now today! But this is by far the best time she ever sang this song. There's something about ALL the songs on this Video. They were anointed that night with something special.

I was told years ago that it was common for his high-voiced lead singers that had Soprano range to sing in the alto section to preserve their voices. The only exception was Tina Watson. She was a flat foot Soprano through and through.
Listening to Kim in December 2019. I agree with the comments about the difference between gospel music back in the day when groups like the Thompson Community Choir and today's "gospel music". Today you basically have entertainers and performers rather than ministers of music. There's no power or anointing in the music today, just a lot of fanfare and voice acrobats. Back in the day they sung to the Glory of God! To hear real gospel music one must pull out The Hawkins Family, Andre Crouch, The Winans, Richard Smallwood, Hezekiah Walker, Shirley Caesar, James Moore, and other powerful choirs, during that era! Who in the world can get delivered listening to so called "gospel wrap music?" That ain't God!

This brings back many happy memories. I had a job that I truly hated going to every day. The 80's and 90's were financial blessings for me but at the cost of ruining my health. The Thompson Community Singers and a few others music helped me keep my sanity. I made because of God and great music like this.

Yes, there is one young lady back at my old community choir in middle GA. That heffa song this song at one of our anniversaries and she killed it!! That church was sooo tore up, man. After she finished singing the song, she was still singing back in the choir stand.

I Love this choir...I remember seeing them live at Wembly Conference Center in London...Their set was cut short because Fred Hammond the opening act was on stage too long..He was good..but everyone had come to see the Tommies..When the conference center turned on the lights while they were on stage because they wanted to close there was major disappointment and booing from all...But the time they were on stage, they were pure class, just awesome....Just glad i got to see them live..even if it was cut short...!

That's from the soul! True singing. This was the back in the day when the choir director told you the following: "I said SANG!" We only used the piano first. We had an organ, but it was used when we learned the song w/o paper. Hope you enjoyed the comment. Loved the video.
Over 30 years ago we walk in to a church in Hammond La. She wipe our whole choir out we was outside so fast in the first 45 minutes powerful anointed voice and it have not changed may God continues to bless her
If anybody knows about gospel music in the 80's, the Tommies were the best at the songs. They had the best singers and vocalists and songs that touched your soul. Most, if not, all church and community choirs song their songs.
From the very first note this sister uttered, I knew she was in a league that very few gospel singers can enter. This is a master class in how to sing a gospel song from the heart and with absolute and sheer excellence. BTW, love this song! It always blesses me and uplifts.
