Enoch Magazine travels to the 2012 Vans Warped Tour to interview hardcore band For Today. In the interview, singer Mattie Montgomery and guitarist Ryan Leitru discuss: Where they are musically; How they write music living in different states; and whether or not they believe in angels and demons aka the "Spirit Realm."

I work at a church camp and as a youth leader. This is the same stuff that I try and reach out to these kids. I've seen so much brokenness in these kids lives, and they need a light. That's why I love bands like For Today! It gives kids a venting system with such an uplifting message.... I LOVE IT!!!

I've witness it to. It's not because in a lifetime some don't see the reality of the spirit realm that it's not real. But yet there again faith comes from God. I believe he has to open our eyes to it, because we can still belive it's fake, even after being exposed to it.

Wish i had brothers like them to hangout with in my life . I pray to Jesus all the time to bring the right people in my life , People at my old church where really stuffy nice but had not much in common i had a hard time fitting in i am full of tattoos bad drug past Jesus is still working on me i never give up on Him be lost without Him i'm not perfect and never will be but i want some great Godly friends in my life and i know a lot of other do also, We all just keep on Praying &TrustinginJesus

His strong teachings were all about love, bro. He mostly talked about sins in the context of, "Are you sinless? No? Shut up." And when He did tell people to stop sinning, that's all He said. "Go and sin no more." And His love cast all that stuff out. That's our testimony. That's what evangelism is. Love. We don't need to preach hell, we need to preach Heaven. Love. Jesus.

See that's the issue, if he was preaching something else they wouldn't complain. People can have as much free speech as they want and take advantage of it often, but as soon as someone starts preaching they throw a red flag up.

btw..don't let demon in my name full you..someone once told me that shadowdemons were like fallen angels but the opposite, fallen angels rebel against God, shadowdemons rebel against the devil, i didnt know if it was true or not, but i liked the little story behind them.

For the most part, the only kind of metalcore (or any of the -core/extreme metal subgenres) that I can listen to is melodic metalcore like Killswitch Engage or Oh, Sleeper, but I really love the bold lyrics and fist pumping feel that For Today has. If it weren't for their bold Christian lyrics and the anthem-like feel of their music, I probably wouldn't be into them just because this typically isn't my style. I normally like melodic stuff, so usually the singing only types of metal (I'm a big fan of progressive metal), some contemporary like Chris Tomlin or even Elvis, and orchestral music, but these guys among a few others in this genre are actually bands I love listening to haha.

Good video. but i think he needs to bring out sin. We can tell all about Gods love, mercy, and the hope, but if we dont tell people to repent of their sins, then we're not telling the WHOLE truth. God is a God of love and mercy. But He's also a God of wrath as well. and if we dont stop our sins, then we'll go to the place where theres weaping and gnashing of teeth. Thats what Jesus spoke about. The bible says multitudes of people stpped following Jesus because of His strong teachings.
