Huge well done to Daniel!! Sub 30 for your first 5k is epic! Pumpkin outfit was pretty special - who knew my legs were bigger than a 5 year old’s!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Late to the party here, but been consuming all of your content as I JUST started training to run a 5k/10k/half and eventually a full next year. Just wanted to say that your positivity, love for running, and outright inspiring way of taking on challenges is helping me a lot. I'm so glad the algorithm landed me on your videos!
Literally could not stop smiling and laughing the whole video! Your dynamic is amazing! And you guys carved out a good time for Daniel looking dead at the end lol
Daniel being a) willing and b) able to run his first parkrun as a ghost accompanying a balloon-pumpkin scores him major points in my book! Laughed at that woman who said "I heard you!" as you passed by - that costume was NOT designed for sneaking around in, clearly 😂Daniel must have enjoyed editing this video at least - the revelation that you were legitimately being slapped in the mouth the entire time by your costume must have made his suffering a little more bearable 😁 Sub-30 for your first ever parkrun is mega though, Daniel, congratulations! And being effectively draped in a bedsheet the entire time, no less 🥰And that final training fartlek - it's easy to forget how quick Phily really is when she's unencumbered by a massive pumpkin costume. Great video, you two!
Way to go Daniel! I started running 8 yrs ago and still chasing the sub 30 min 5k. I was late to 2 starts because I couldn't get my laces tied correctly. 😂
HAHA, Hilarious. I love the way your pumpkin leaves bounce up and down. Kudos to Daniel for playing along. The reason you didn't see any witches is they were all flying overhead on their broomsticks. 😂
Tremendous video Phily, "Age 5-11" had me howling. Hats off to Daniel, what a great sport, and a decent first entry - onwards and upwards. PS - the constant shoe re-tying, definitely a thing
Watch out Phily - first Daniel starts sharing the driving, now the running, you'll have to rename the channel soon 😉 In all seriousness, huge respect to Daniel for doing his first parkrun in fancy dress, without being prepared for it! That really is the parkrun spirit, and to get sub-30 (unofficially) as a first go would be amazing even without the sheet that looked like it was very hard to breathe through!
i don't think i laughed so much in my life. this is soooo funny. you don't need to breath it's just a mindset. 😂. do you still love me.....yeah i guess. i just can't cope.
Face it Phily, pumpkins are not scary. Daniel, however, was genuinely terrifying, especially his breathing running towards the funnel. Hollywood calls?
I'm thinking about doing some park runs as I've just signed up for a 12k in September - can currently run 3k verrrrrrrry slowly on a treadmill relatively late at night in the gym. I don't look like a runner, and am definitely slower than actual runners, so I'm worried about people laughing at me. This has got me genuinely contemplating doing a park run in a silly outfit to help me conquer my fear...
“Pumpkin coming through” 😂😂 so good. Bless Daniel, I would have left you there. Best video ever guys, hilarious. Next park run will feel so easy without a costume Daniel 🙌🏻
I tie my shoes once, then once I realize they are too tight, I have to retie them. Usually only twice. But they did come undone in a race once. So that sucked. Big props to Daniel for being a great sport about his first parkrun!
Well done to Daniel, poor guy, for being a good sport and doing the parkrun you forced on him.. plus for doing it dressed as a ghost. Pumpkin outfit looks brill
Well done Daniel on your first parkrun, you guys looked fab, would love to see more parkrun videos, its just the perfect outlet for exercise that is all inclusive 🤩
That was awesome, from both of you! Sub30 for your first 5k is a great time! Also the bit about tying your shoes multiple times is so true for me 🤣 I always feel like one shoe is slightly tighter than the other, so I have to retie one of them (usually the one that's too loose), but then that one feels tighter than the other one, so I retie the other one. I do that one or two times until I feel like they're even and still comfortable, or they're both so tight that I have to retie them both (am embarrassed to admit sometimes there's a third retying until the circle stops :D)
Holy shit you guys.... this is amazing! Daniel using the eyehole to gasp for air had me actually laughing out loud 😅 Daniel super mad props to you not only for doing this as your first park run, but for not backing out! Next year you guys should do something like Batman and Robin costumes, because at least you can get running shirts with those printed on them, then the only hassle is the cape :)
Yes, quite often tie and re-tie a few times to get the lace pressure correct, especially across top of foot. Well done on the Park runDaniel. Great to see, and looking forward to another one in some normal attire!
Amazing! I think we can safely say he DID love it! Love the transition @4:27 What a great sport Daniel is. He’s definitely got a half in him. Tying shoes more than once - myth!
What a great wacky video & fair play @Daniel Leadbitter for agreeing to it & then going sub-30 in the ghost costume. Question is, did you have pumpkin pie afrerwards?
Yes, I have to retie my shoes multiple times, but it's getting better -- I no longer worry about them being too tight because they loosen up pretty quick once I start running. But too loose is annoying. Thanks, great parkrun...
Great seeing you both within the content, well done Daniel. I only did my first Parkrun about 3 months back and I'm well and truly hooked on the runs at the moment, training most days. As you are new to running watch those PB's drop quickly to a point. Look forward to seeing you on the channel more. p.s that Dog was definitely giving you guys evils, pause at 6:17! damn Halloween Hound! By the way, do you or Phily know, are there Cross Country races or meets for non-elite/club runners, I like the look of those.
I was worried the dog may have tried to attack the pumpkin suit! Absolutely there’s loads of cross country you can run as a non-elite! Assuming you’re in the UK - best bet is to contact your local athletics club and try out the league races they do- some offer you the opportunity to run as a guest (for a small fee) without having to join officially as well
@@PhilyBowden ah yes, true, a human sized squeaky dog toy… Brilliant thanks, yup I’m Derbyshire based so will take a look at athletic clubs in and around the area.
As a kid my mother made me a ghost costume 👻 out of a similar white bedsheet. For carnival, not for Halloween though. She sketched a skeleton with a black marker on it, and cut out holes for the eyes AND a grinning toothy mouth, and tapered it a bit so it fit better. And I got some silver chains and lock as a belt to rattle with. It was one of my favorites that I can still remember, because it was fun and really a one-of-a-kind costume.
🎃 👻 👟 Nice job Daniel! I am impressed with your time. My first parkrun is in a week in Portland, Oregon.🎉. I would be so impressed if I could come in below 30 min -nice job again!!🎃
This comment is for Daniel. After 15 years of marriage during which I have frequently been asked to do something I really didn't want to do, but which my wife is *so* excited about, I've developed a signature routine when I just stare at her, shake my head, and say in an exasperated, sigh-ing voice: "You're lucky you're cute." Daniel, this entire video is a classic "You're lucky you're cute" moment for you. But, she is. So we persevere, right? Well done to you on the run!
Hi Phily, not often I laugh out loud but this was hilarious - you're an inspiration too, even to runners like myself who are over 50. All the best to you at NB and welcome to the North (and btw the weather is nowhere near as bad as people say :) My next competitive event is the Geneva 10K and really working hard to put in a new PB at that event:)
I tie my shoe when I leave my room, then it inevitably feels weird, retie after/ during streching. Then One final retie post warmup, usually that one sticks for the rest of the workout but sometimes there is a fourth retie.
Which parkrun was this? Just watching it now, looks like a nice course! 👍 (Well done both for doing it in fancy dress, and well done to Daniel on his first parkrun!)
Thank you youtube algorithm- just found your channel. 3rd video I've watched now and love your attitude to everything and this is hilarious. I love how you turn up late, my daughter and I have a stampede of park runners running at us each time as were late and trying to get to the start line when it's already started 😂🙂🏃♂️🏃♀️
Great video, I love parkruns as great for all abilities. Am on nearly 300 parkruns but would never get near your 5K times. Well done to Daniel on his first parkrun of many more to come. Running as pumpkins needs to become an Olympic 5K event.
100% true, definitely need to tie your laces once just as a single knot and then after walking round the house before leaving tighten them more once your feet have settled into them properly and do a double knot! 👌
