The high pressure oil system on the Ford 6.0L Diesel has many seals which can develop leaks over time. As these engines get older, more and more people are encountering leaks at the Nipple Cups. There are 2 seals which seal the Nipple Cup to the oil Rails and fuel injectors. One is the Nipple Cup Seal and one is the Fuel Injector Top Seal.
You must replace them both at the same time because a bad Nipple Cup seal always attacks and destroys the fuel injector top seal. How does this happen? Well the high pressure oil that leaks past the Nipple Cup Seal follows the body of the nipple cup down to the Fuel Injector Top Seal on the other end. Depending on the severity of your leak you can have minor wear, or complete failure. A completely bad nipple cup seal can take our your top injector seal in less than 1000 miles if it is bad enough.
A leaking nipple cup seal on its own generally will not cause a hot no start. It takes the destruction of the fuel injector top seal buy this nipple cup seal leak to cause a no start.

I use a heat gun to warm the seal and remove it Then warm the new seal and reinstall with out taking the clip or washer out

Also, with using punch method I later had one of the ferruels fail, cracked, broke apart thus causing a catastrophic failure of the seal to the injector body. Which leads to the typical no start condition. Since then I have not used the punch method promoted by an Alliant instruction set.

Do I need to worry about this if I’m getting new warren diesel injectors. Buddy 6.0 hydrolocked due to failed injector. So I pulled the plugs and evacuated the diesel, which was black of oil so I’m guessing the o ring was also bad. So now that it’s our plan on using you guys nipple cups and o rings. Oem updated standpipes. New fuel filters and fuel pump. Fresh T6 oil and filter change. Would I need to worry about this ?

Can these still be purchased directly from HHC? I am about to do both sides of my truck with your nipple cups and would like to at least have the top injector seals on hand if possible. Thank you for the help!

I made a tool to grab the retainer and remove it. Will work with injector installed also. Easy to make.

Why can’t you remove the seal and install a new one without removing the clip?

You can. You can even do it with the injectors still in the engine. It's a Pain in the Ass though, and it's really easy to Nick the seal with the picks you have to use to get it in there.

I been a hydraulic mechanic for 27 years and done 1000’s of seal installs. I think I can do it but wanted to make sure there was some other reasons.
