I wanted to do a "FLUSH" but after finding out about the bypass valve I didn't want to waste my money so this is what I did. I first drained the pan with a brake bleed suction tool. Replaced the fluid and drove it for a day. I then repeated the same thing. At the beginning of the third time the fluid was almost back to the red color. On the third time I dropped the pan and changed the filter and the fluid. Now the fluud is back to the red color and it has a new filter too. The biggest PITA was the exhaust temps and trying to get the fluid level correct. My truck is a 2014 4X4 and getting to the bolts above the exhaust was impossible without stripping the bolt heads. So I welded a 8mm socket onto the end of an old screwdriver and it allowed me to easily access those 4 bolts without damaging the heads. But thats how I got all of my fluid replaced and the filter. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Back when I was a fat fk (~60" waist) I was still able to easily slide under a stock height Expedition, and use an Irwin long nose offset pliers to check the fluid level without burning my hand. If one ends up fudging this procedure, they really shouldn't be working on trucks. Good video nonetheless 👍

As long as it’s anywhere in the b box is fine since that’s the box you check while car it’s running and yes it’s a pain in the ass to do this while it’s running but you have to, to get a correct reading it’s even more of a pain to tighten the bolt back in since I have an o2 sensor right next to the dam plug in between the cat it’s like ford does this so nobody would want to service the transmission

Thanks for the video. I should mention that the final check must be made with the fluid at 190 F degrees or hotter. This crap really expands when it heats up. The truck also must be running when checking the fluid. The tranny cooler also is valved off when the fluid is cold. If you get it anywhere near full when cold, it will be terribly overfilled when it heats up. Also, if the truck's not running when you open the cap, 2 - 1/2 quarts of fluid will pour out of the dipstick hole. Have fun. "𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘏𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘢!"

Hello brother thanks for sharing this awesome video! I currently own a 2016 ford f150 5.0 with the 6r80 transmission. I purchased it used with 73k miles, it now has a little over 78k miles. I've researched many youtube videos and read online forums about changing transmission fluid. It seems like most everybody drops the pan and changes the filter. I really like the idea of not having to mess with the pan and avoiding a big mess. I purchased a mightvac fluid evacuator pump and my plan was to suck out the old fluid, assuming i would get 5 quarts or so and use another pump to add new fluid back. As I was about to do this job, a few guys I know said I would be wasting my time if I did not drop the pan and replace filter. So I have stalled the procedure until I gather more information. So my questions for you are the following 1. Because I don't know the history of this vehicle with 78k miles currently, would it still be ok to just use your method, with pumping out old fluid and adding new? Or do you think because of the higher milage, I should change the filter. Like I said i don't know how well the previous owners maintained the vehicle, but my guess is it hasn't been done. 2. I would obviously check the level on the dipstick first to see if it was sitting at the correct level before extracting fluid. If the fluid level is correct, can I just add what I took out? It seems like a pain to get the vehicle hot and continue to check level. 2. When adding the new fluid , does the truck need to be turned on in park? Or should i have the vehicle turned off? I watched another youtuber, who has the same method as you. But what he did was....pump half of the new fluid back into the transmission with the truck being off and the other half with the truck being on. He said pumping in the same amount of fluid you took out would overfill if the vehicle wasn't turned on. So thats why he split it up like that. 3. Do you possibly have a picture or video of how you added new fluid back into the transmission. I heard you say that you placed a funnel on the antenna and routed it to the fill hole on the transmission. Im curious to see how this works with funnel being on antenna? Or do you have any recommendations on a good pump to add fluid back? I don't want to use the mightvac to add new fluid, it would be a pain to clean and add new fluid. Please let me know your thoughts. I really appreciate people like you, who give your time to help others. Have a great day man!

answers to your questions. 1. Yes it ok to extract old fluid and replace it with new fluid. If this was my truck I would not bother replacing filter at this mileage. 2. when you remove dipstick fluid will be coming out of the hole and running all over transmission pan. You can add small amount of ATF while engine is not running. To additional amount of fluid engine would have to be running. You can add same amount that came out, however you need to check making sure its correct amount. You need to find out at temperature you can check fluid level, it can at cold or hot. 2. Adding new fluid should be done when truck is in park on level, with engine off. Once fluid starts coming from the fill hole, then you start the truck and keep adding the fluid until dipstick shows correct level. 3. I don't have a video or picture because it was dark and started to rain and I had to hold umbrella to prevent water from gettin inside the funnel. However, I have video that show a funnel and a hose that I have done on tundra, very similar except funnel is under the hood and not hanging on the side of the fender and attached to the antenna by the wire. Watch this tundra ATF for better understanding video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O4aKM4svlaM.html You can use pump to add fluid, something like this should work amzn.to/3OpPGOp Or something from this list depending on your budget amzn.to/3zQVEUq Hopefully I have answered your questions.

it's not even Ford. This transmission like many other transmission ford has is German engineered by ZF company, that makes transmission for German cars. Instead of buying complete transmission from ZF for bough the rights/license to build them in house. What do you have and year?

@@repairvehicle Thanks for the video, 2011 Expedition just buttoned it up after watching your video. I think it will be interesting to see what the future holds for repairs on EVs and current gen 4 cycles.

Electric cars have very bad future in terms of repairs. Aftermarket parts not available and they will never be available until patent released.
