I've had a Maverick XLT hybrid on order since Sept 21 and have received 4 different build dates now. So I can confirm the "stringing along" theory you discuss here.
Absolutely insane. When is your scheduled build now? I also feel bad for people who were banking on the higher value trade ins which are now dropping quickly.
Yup Sept of 2021. My order has been submitted as a 23 and I'm told by my dealer it's scheduled for production Jan 19th and was issued as priority 2. Hopefully this date is for real now
@@slingbart705 I also had a 2022 Vin and was scheduled for Dec 19th production. From my understanding those orders will be canceled and you need to call your dealer to have your Mav order resubmitted as a 23. Ford didn't tell me any of this, I had to find out for myself.
I’ve never owned (or even considered) a Ford before but the Maverick hybrid was everything I wanted in a vehicle. Unfortunately this whole experience with Ford and their shady dealers over the last year have really put a damper on my enthusiasm. Looking forward to seeing what the competition does.
Part of me even hopes my EcoBoost doesn't get built so I have a excuse to try the competition lol. It really is annoying the way Ford has made this process for anyone wanting a hybrid.
Dealers from EVERY manufacturer, initiated mark ups. That is a dealer decision, not Ford Motor corp thing. Ford has actually been giving dealers grief for selling above msrp. All EV Fords are being sold under a new agreement that doesnt allow the dealer to mark prices up. That gives me more confidence in them, not less.
Same! Ford really continues to drop the ball! Honestly considering canceling my order and going with the new Nissan Frontier. Especially since ford will not price protect my order if I don’t get it built this year. The price on the maverick quickly shot up and if Ima spend 30k+ I may as well get a frontier.
@@ericpeysar2593 I'll believe the "no markup" speak that Ford is preaching when I actually see it implemented. Seems like nothing more than empty promises to save face and look good in the public eye if you ask me.
Ordered 22MY hybrid Nov 3, 2021 and my rollover 2023 model just went into production this week! We were told 13 weeks when we first ordered, and it’s going to be 15 or 16 months at least by the time it gets to the dealer.
Fixed Or Repaired Daily. Back in the 80’s when I was in school for Auto Mechanics our professor had an acronym for every car brand. I guess he was wrong because this ongoing shortage dilemma is something FORD still can’t fix.
Not changing my order, but frankly might not keep it...depends when I sit in it I guess. Got a used 2019 Insight in the meantime that gets me about 66mpg. And frankly, might keep it. Likely more reliable, has a nicer interior, I have things like radar, self driving, auto matching cruise. And cost me 23k. Yeah its used, but im spending 27 bucks ever 2 weeks on gas, and I drive 80 miles a day. Not bad.
I was considering switching from the XLT Hybrid to Ecoboost, but I wanted to see what the first scheduling in March looked like because they had not scheduled for the prior 3 weeks. Lo and behold, when that March 16th scheduling notifications came out, wam! There was that coveted email letting me know I was scheduled for a May 17 build. Earlier in the day I received the every 45 day sorry about your luck email. So the scheduled email was very surprising. You could have knocked me over with a feather. XLT Hybrid, Hot Pepper Red, LUX pkg, CP360, spray in bed liner package including the cleat tie down system free. I felt like I won the lottery!
Build date 2/22/23. XLT Cactus Gray Hybrid, sunroof, slider rear window and tow. Got the Vin and Ford has been good with the updates. If you want to buy it for 40k it's yours.
I ordered my XLT hybrid on 9/17/22. It is Area 51 color with very few add-ons. Waiting patiently 😊 🙏🏽 ☺️ no news so far except my every 45 day email! 🤞🏽 🤞🏽
Curious what part of Illinois you are in, me west of Elgin area. Lifelong Ford buyer, maybe 25-30 trucks total. Buy my last experience trying to buy a new F150 might be last time that I try to buy a Ford. Salesman think that these trucks are gold plated and should sell for nothing less than minimum $62,000 +. Screw them.
I'm in even worst shape than others! I walked in just wanting to test drive the truck and they said to me the only way to try the truck is if you order the truck since they had so many obligations... they didnt require me to place a deposit. So i did that in October.2021! I had to constantly inquire when this truck was coming to the dealership? They finally dropped me one letter stating it will be built in October of 2022! So that was the only one letter during this whole process with a incomplete build date... just an order number. Now they dont have the decency to update me at all. I then inquired at the dealership and they suggested i take off the "spray in bedliner." Reluctantly, I complied and nothing at 14 months and still waiting! If they want to, they'll blow me off cause they owe me nothing in deposit and sell my truck to someone else over MSRP! 😒 its ok, im in for the long haul at this point. If they fudge this or pump up the price where its not worth it to buy than im going electric for sure. Id hate to jump ship but the cyber trucks starting to look real good to me right now. At the rate im going, I won't see this truck I ordered in 2021 till the beginning of 2024. Just 10 more grand and one more year and i could have a cyber truck that tows 4 ton and carries 6 people with over 300 mile range!
I placed an order for a 23 Maverick XL ecoboost on September 16th. I ordered NO options knowing full well that that could delay the delivery for over a year. Now I feel that Ford is manipulating the order process with most expensive delivered first. I definately will not change my order and if I do not receive the vehicle by December 31st, I will NOT reorder and look elsewhere. Good Luck to you and everyone who has ordered the vehicle.
I've read XL is also a constrained item, so there is a strong chance that truck might take a long time to be built/might not be built at all. They are definitely prioritizing the more profitable configurations if you ask me.
I have a hybrid XLT ordered and while my dealer and Ford keeps me updated(that they have no news), I am not very hopeful that I will get the truck. I am looking forward to see what comes up from other manufactures.
My sister put our orders in on September 15, both hybrids hers an xlt with the lux package, mine the xl. She received hers the beginning of September mine is being delivered the middle of march.
I ordered an XL Hybrid on 9/20/22. Only options were full size spare, rubber bed mat, trailer hitch, and floor liners. Changed order to Ecoboost engine on 12/19/22. Original order was a priority 19. After I changed the engine, my dealer changed the priority code to 10. The price of the base XL has increased by $2,200 since this truck came out. Base price is now $22,195. Add 1490 for destination charge and you have $23,690 for a base XL. Mine is $24,180 with the options I listed. I agree with you about the ordering process. It is way too complicated and frustrating! In your case, Ford will be happy since you ordered some expensive options. One bright side is that they now are adding the Ecoboost engine for no charge. Even after changing my order, I might not get a truck. I'm sure you have read that Ford only plans to build 15 percent of the XL model and they have 26 percent on order. I have a 2010 Ranger XLT with the 2.3 liter engine. I will keep driving it for a while and see what happens.
"Ford only plans to build 15 percent of the XL model" - of course. They make little to nothing on the base model, so the price is a bait-and-switch to get you into the Ford dealer, where he can upsell you. It's a slimy tactic.
I ordered a 23 MY xlt hybrid last sep 22 and have heard crickets ever since but I am loving my new 22 Ram Bighorn which I got a couple of months ago pictured here for 10k UNDER sticker. I don't care if the cheap-ass hybrid ever comes in. Shame on ford for treating customers this way especially since last Sep order banks were only open for a week and ford had 2 years to fix this production issue
I have a hybrid, and ordered another one. I waited 9 months for the first one, and expect at least that on the 23. If i was stranded, i would probably settle for whatever they would give me, but the hybrid is am awesome car/truck. If you are confident they will eventually come through, waiting might be worth it. At the end of the day, its your money, and if you don't get what you want, it will always bug you. Often, the biggest mistakes of our lives, are because we lowered our standards.
Exactly, he lowered his standards and settled for something he didn't originally wanted. It will bug him everytime he sees a hybrid on the road. It happens in the Subaru community, people settle for the WRX when they wanted an STI.
@@darkrulier I don't think it will. Honestly with the added options I think this will be a far more enjoyable vehicle in the long run and not feel like a bare bones fleet vehicle.
I've called my local Ford dealer here in southern Indiana twice in 2022 to order a Maverick. Both times I was told "don't even think about it ". He admitted Ford is so screwed up that he himself would be afraid to actually put an order in. That dealership was sold 3 months ago.
I ordered a 23 XL Hybrid 9/20/22 Mine is in production for the week of the 20th of February. Options were hitch and full size spare. I wasn’t even expecting it this year
What exactly IS the problem Ford is having with production? We are a couple years removed from the COVID shut downs now. The chip shortage was about two years ago at this point. Hybrid engines aren't a new thing, other brands have been making enough of them to sit around on car lots for over a decade now.
@@FocusedGarage I think it was because I ordered it from a dealer with a high allocation amount. Nevertheless still pretty lucky to order one and get it exactly how I ordered it in 4 months
I have a hybrid maverick on order which is expected to be delivered in a couple weeks, it has shipped and we were told yesterday it is in Indiana on its way to NC where our dealer is located. I am so excited it will arrive soon. I ordered an xlt hybrid with luxury package , not sure if that made the difference since I keep hearing they want people to upgrade from xl to xlt .
@@FocusedGarage The day the order bank opened up. which I think was 9/20/22. We were shocked when we got notification it was being built in December. My husband ordered a F150 hybrid in August of 21 and it took till July 22 to get it, so we were expecting the Maverick wouldn't be seen before next fall.
I found out about this from this and some other internet places. My dealership sure didn't tell me. I ordered my truck Sept 17th. I have 2 emails from Ford. One saying we got your order and another one saying we promise to keep you informed every 45 days. That was dated Nov 1. They missed that deadline too. Just not happy with Ford!
I have a 2.0L Lariat loaded and love it, ordered a loaded Lariat Hybrid but I'm getting nervous reading the forums about the problems the hybrids are having so I think I am going to switch the hybrid to a 2.0L 4K. The one I orderd is red with the blackout appearance package and I really want that color. I can't find a hybid to test drive anyway and I'm not sure I'll like the way it drives. Like you said the mileage is there on the open road and I want AWD
The Hybrid drives great...seamless transition between electric and engine...engine a bit noisy on heavy throttle...but it has plenty of pep. This from someone who only owns V8 powered cars and trucks.
lol, they got you. I am keeping the hybrid order. I have aaaaaalllll the time in the world and all the cash in had for the Lariat I ordered, if it gets built great, if not I'll take my $ elsewhere and get something else.
@@FocusedGarage I rather buy another vehicle than settle for the model I don't want. Now you'll see hybrid Mavericks on the road and wish you have waited longer.
@@FocusedGarage lol!!! I told my husband a while back that I want a Ford Maverick hybrid truck and he told me I was crazy... caught him hiding in the bedroom like he was looking at p*** and he was looking at the Mavericks.. I told him Too little too late. Get in line behind a bazillion other people now and a smart girly girl.
I’m not sure you can call it a bait an switch at the time the order banks opened the information was out there that they expected to only be able to produce about 30% Hybrids and 70% Eco. After orders were accepted those numbers pretty much the same. I was on the list of people who gambled on an XL Hybrid and now changed to an XLT Eco but I’m glad I had that option.
It is just deceptive that they offer a truck that your odds of getting are worse than 50%. Regardless, I will be very happy if and when my Ecoboost FX4 + 4k is built!
The whole system is weird. I also ordered a 2023 XL hybrid with absolutely no options. Scheduled to be delivered 4 months since I ordered it. We will see how it goes.
Lol you're trying to justify ford's bull doodie. If the Ecoboost works for you more power to you. I want the base hybrid. It's a classic bait and switch and the whole thing is a huge fiasco. Basically.. Practically that 22k hybrid doesn't exist you can't get it period. Not with markups not with very limited availability you can't even order the thing. This is nuts to me.
Exactly; Ford offers this super affordable, super efficient package, and they make it pretty much impossible to get one. I will not make excuses for Ford. What they did is wrong.
I'm still waiting if I have to change my configuration I might of just go with a Nissan Frontier the price increase will not get me what I can get on a Nissan Frontier.
I ordered my hybrid back in October 2021... got scheduled, then cancelled, and now I'm slated for a 2023 in late January. This is the first vehicle I've purchased new, and it's been a wild ride. I'm happy to be getting a hybrid, it's everything I have always wanted in a truck (FWD, MPG, seating vs. storage vs. payload) but it's ridiculous that the "base model" is so hard to come by
I know two people who ordered a Maverick hybrid. One got hers. They both didn't want the 2.0 version. Both of them had the same opinion. If they were going to get he 2.0, they might as well get the Ranger. I am in agreement with them. I bought a Ranger several months before the Maverick was announced. The only model of Maverick that appeals to me is the hybrid. On another note, how did Ford not expect the hybrid to be the more popular option? Or was it just wishful thinking given the supply issues involved with the hybrid?
The 2.0 even with AWD is still capable of hitting over 30 MPG on the highway; I don't think the ranger can do that. Regardless, horrible execution by Ford on the ordering system and hybrid/gasoline breakdown.
I agree about the move to a Ranger if spending more money. Ford ditched all their economy cars so they had to know the base $1995 hybrid would have been a hit.
A bait and switch is giving you something you didn't order. If they are giving you the option, it's not a bait and switch. My '22 XLT Ecoboost took 2 weeks shy of a full 12 months.
It is just deceptive that the main appeal of this truck that they offer (hybrid with good MPG and starting price around $20,000) are both constrained items (the XL and the Hybrid). Your odds are very low if you order a XL Hybrid so the truck that drums up the most marketing excitement, is essentially unobtainable.
What part of supply shortage and can't make trucks fast enough is hard to understand I simply do not understand why people are complaining about waiting. You knew you would have to wait... If we are lucky we can get a Toyota Hilux back with the rav4 hybrid engine before our mavericks get delivered 😂
I understand the supply shortage, but the way that Ford is going about doing this is not the best route to keep consumers happy. Keeping them on the line for a year to maybe build or maybe not build their order is insane.
Also. In my case 17 months wait and Ford can not put parts together for my XL is a lie. My same order has been made for others with shorter wait times. Not Henry Ford*s company.
Most car manufacturers run into product constraints especially in the new era of parts shortages. I've ordered cars for 50 years from seven different manufacturers and have run into constraints. For a new vehicle the manufacturer has to work with suppliers up to two years in advance and estimate demand of what customer orders will be. This country isn't a fuel conscious set of car buyers so they appear to have underestimated hybrid demand. And battery supplies are hard to get quickly - just ask someone waiting for their EV. So it isn't bait and switch. If you want a hybrid then wait for a year or two and see if you win the parts lottery. They are trying to help customers get a truck by showing what they have available. Now running out of trailer hitches was definitely bait and switch.
I waited 15 months for my XLT Hybrid, and it was worth the wait. For kicks, I ordered THE SAME TRUCK (different color) for 23…. And within 2 weeks of adding the copilot 360 option package, I had a build date for my 23 XLT Hybrid. As of now, I should have 2 Mavericks before most get their 1st…
If they have good insurance that can find comps they will be okay. If not, they better have gap coverage or be prepared to eat $10,000 of negative equity.
@@FocusedGarage Not sure gap insurance will help if they paid cash. The truth is in the insurance companies eyes the truck is only worth sticker (at most) My opinion is Ford is starting to pump these out and the economy is crashing so these trucks will return to normal prices very soon and the people who could not wait for their Maverick and paid crazy money will look like fools.
As much as I wanna agree, Ford had issues with hundreds of thousands of pre 2018 Ecoboost engines with heads cracking. Everything has its fair share of issues haha.
@@FocusedGarage you just proved my point by saying that. but, yes, you are correct, everything has issues....i have a 69 Pontiac that i dabble with and i still have trouble keeping it going
Ford sounds like between manufacturing delays, outrageous dealer ripoffs, and from what I’ve seen on other videos issues with engines, etc,,,they are trying to self-destruct themselves,,I would never buy a Ford,,give me a Toyota at MSRP any day.
There is a lot of problems with hybrid that’s reason they make recall for it so i sagest for you go with ecobost because same millages on gallons it’s just 3 miles deferent so it’s worthless
