I ordered one, waited a year and still got screwed by Honolulu Ford. They wanted 10k over the ordered price. The truck was now in the Tacoma price range. I passed on this overpriced, “basic” truck.
Talk to an attorney. I believe the dealer will have a hard time explaining to a judge how holding the Maverick hostage, even though it was was built specifically for you under your DL#, then unilaterally after your order deciding you owed another $10k is not a form of extortion.
There's no way they could win a defamation case against you if all your information is factual, and they would have to pay your court cost. I wouldn't care if they sued me it would even more of a bonus to spank the hell out them legally.
@Too Many Hobbies You can still ask an attorney what to do. Dealers get away with fraud when no one questions them. Then that empowers them to do it to the next buyer. Maybe the dealer will have to pay you the difference between msrp on the Mav and what you paid for the T. They will not want a court case to set precedence others can use against them.
Ford is already enacting very strict restrictions on dealerships, and has even revoked dealership status from a few across the country, mostly because of how they handled the F-150 Lightning.
My co worker ordered an 2023 Maverick XL Hybrid 10 months ago and he finally got it. It was $500 for an online order and he paid exactly what they told him. MSRP was $24K, plus tax and license here in CA, and paid $27,100 out the door. No dealer mark ups. He’s happy with it.
I went through a similar buying situation as you did. Mine was with a Toyota dealership southwest of Chicago. I called the state's attorney's office. Once they found out I did that they gave me my money back. Money for VIN etching that was never on the car. So if you're still having trouble with that dealership there's an option for you.
Though I would have called them out by name, I totally understand your situation and agree the dealership would have made much more profit selling your truck to another buyer. I'm glad you ended up with the truck you ordered. It's a very sharp truck, and I like the color with the black rims. One of my issues with almost all car manufacturers nowadays is the cheap plastic interior materials they use. They mostly all do this. Enjoy your truck and keep us posted on how it's doing.
Excellent explanation, sir. Clear and concise - without being scripted. Well reasoned as well. Real nice truck overall, but the one thing it needs (if you ever want to transport lumber, or something long) is a back window opening. You could turn around and sell the truck and lose no money - if you did not like it. It was a very good decision not "to walk". Nice dumpster prop doubling as an apt metaphor.😀
if a dealer does this to a customer you can call ford directly, this bullshit pisses me off to no end and i commend you for not smashing the salesman head into his own desk. these criminal lying dealers need to be put out of business immediately!
I've bought two cars from Gordie Boucher Ford in Janesville and had great experiences. Bought one from DeLong Ford in Dwight, IL which was awesome for a little town dealer. All in the last 3 years. Also handled everything via email on both dealers and negotiated pricing. No need to sit in the hot seat. 30 min pickup times.
Truck looks great. I work for a Ford Dealership and I am so sorry to hear you had to go through that. We would have price protected you and you can use outside financing. I don't think they can force you to use their financing. At the end of the day you got a great truck and you never have to go there again. Message me if you ever need anything! I am also in Illinois an hour south of Chicago.
I really looked forward to getting a Maverick. I missed out on the ordering, due to health issues I didn't know would be resolved. Once I was past that, I started looking for trucks delivered to local dealers. I found three at a local dealership, and went to test drive one. Fell in love immediately. And then they told me what they wanted for it. Double the price had I ordered it direct from Ford. I would have cost less buying from Carmax. Now I own a 2022 Chevy Colorado, and I'm not looking back.
looks nice, my wife has a escape titanium 2.0 ecoboost w/ 45 k and I have a 17 explorer sport 3.5 twin turbo ecoboost w/ 74k.. keys to not have ecoboost issues change your oil every 4 to 5k TOPS Change your PTU fluid every 40k rotate tires every other oil change 👍
I had an aunt that went to Canada, watched her Buick being built as it came down the production line, paid cash and drove the car past 200,000 miles before she quit driving in her 80's. If Aunt Ruth could do it then you can too. Avoid the "stealerships".
Thanks for sharing your experience. Did your Maverick come with any factory undercoating? I heard the undercarriage and sub frames rusts really quickly.
There not hard to get in Michigan. Over 70 available right now many below MSRP, also some Hybrids are available. Just counted 20 in Lansing and 22 in Detroit. Some $2K below MSRP.
The FX4 package is just the 2k hitch. The 4k gives you the additional coolers and an additional wiring harness for trailers. I wanted the FX4 for the skid plates and wheels haha.
@@FocusedGarage ah gotcha. I thought about the fx4 option, but will never use it. Only thing I would want in the tow hooks. My 7x14 trailer has the 7 plug harness too. Great review!!
People hate on this truck because it's small and doesn't have a V8. Remember when trucks this size were normal? Nissan pickup, Toyota pickup, Mazda pickup etc....
We don't hate it for those reasons, we hate it because it's like a Ridgeline and not a truck but a unibody economy car with a truck bed bolts and on top of it. Yours is based on the Escape, not to mention one of the most recalled and unreliable cars for that made in last 10 years. You're a victim of hype and without social media there would be no Maverick hype. Kicked in the face by recalls and a victim of horrible dealer practices and lemons like you still line up to buy one. Wasn't the lightning in the Maverick lesson enough. Any idiot that pre-orders and set them self out for this nonsense deserve what they get
Well the only things people praise mavericks for is the mpg. And maybe being a ford because ford dealers and quality are usually both are super subpar. This is a great vehicle for the flower hauling nerd tho haha. Cant really bash them when they get over 30mpg but I, like many, doubt these things will last over 100-130k miles without butt loads of recalls and issues.
File a complaint with the FTC and the manufacturer. What they did was illegal. Both the FTC and Ford are cracking down on these cooked dealership. The FTC is paying special attention to this type of thing and is actively prosecuting these dealership.
Sorry you had such a poor buying experience. The dealership should be called out by name, but a little reading into your video allowed me to find the dealer's name and your dealerrater review pretty easily. I don't live in Illinois but if I did I would never consider buying a vehicle from these guys.
You should put it out there that it was Huntley Ford that did this to you. They should be lambasted all over the place just like any other dealer that pulls these little stunts. They can't go bankrupt fast enough.
My experience with Ford wasn’t very good. They even went far as showing me a Origami during negotiations by a sales person. Now I took that as pandering to a Asian person which I am. I was so mad what his real intentions were when he showed me the origami . Anyway I just walked out after that. He was asking is there something wrong and I just simply told him I no longer was interested in buying from this dealer.
You have the Tremor Maverick? That's disappointing, I was thinking of getting one of those instead of a Tremor Ranger but if you get that low of gas mileage might as well get the Ranger
That's really surprising. I have a Colorado ZR2 (V6 version) and it consistently gets 23mpg on the highway. And the ZR2 variant isn't known for the best mileage.
I have Lariat Luxury FX4 4K tow on order with still no build date. I thought they removed the spray in bed liner from lux package do to “supply chain” issues? Was yours sprayed at factory or did you get it done after market?
From your experience and the internets it seems your state/country is lacking effective consumer protection laws. 1. Preventing manufacturers and their dealers from coercing or forcing customers who are financing their purchase to use a specific finance company. Customers should be free to choose finance from a company of their choice. 2. Preventing manufacturers and their dealers from charging over and then some, published/advertised "sticker" prices where it does not involve extra goods or services supplied by the manufacturer or their dealers. If vehicles become popular or are a runaway success and manufacturers can't cope with supply, then that is a problem for the manufacturer. It should not be passed onto the customer by way of excessive extra charges and fees to weed out the desperate customer from others. In Australia what you bought is called a dual cab ute (utility vehicle). I wish you many enjoyable miles of driving and hauling. Cheers...Mike (another one)
I understand it's based on a $21k platform regarding build quality but a base Corolla wouldn't have the gaps and paint mismatch. Or even a Kia Sportage...
You can get a huge, full-size, heavy 2023 Ford F-150 and it can achieve Up to 18 city / 25 highway. There's no excuse for a small, light "car-truck" to get anything less than 30 MPG combined at all times. It's sickening. It's 2023, guys. MPG achievements need to be WAY better than they currently are. I drive a 2002 Chevy Prizm (base model, wish I had the LSi) and so far, I've gotten 32.7 MPG as my largest number. If I were getting a Maverick, which I'd like to because they're cool, I'd want the hybrid. 40 MPG city!
Isn't the official color Fighter Jet Gray? We're having our 2014 Mustang GT convertible painted Fighter Jet Gray. I may buy a truck like this after they've proved to be reliable. If I see them with 180k miles and up, I'll buy one used.
Went to a local Ford Dealership in the Corpus Christi Texas area and they wanted $31k for a Maverick AWD XLT BUT A MARKUP OF $11K. Ford Dealership was NOT FORD AUTONATION. NOT A BUYER AT $42K. Don't be desperate. That is probably why the original order buyer backed out of the buy.
Would calling Ford customer service in a situation like this have possibly helped? Would they be able to intervene/mediate at the time or even help you get some relief from an unethical dealer after the fact?
Ok just got my Maverick hybrid I guess I’m one of the lucky ones my dealer in Florida from the get go they told me 2,000 over Msrp . Agreed as long as the sales manager sighned the purchase order at the end they gave me a military discount for 500. I’ve been saving for this since I’m two years from retirement. I waited till it was shipped went to the dealer and paid for the truck in full and had them put paid in full on the order mine is a XLT after my extras taxes tag and delivery fee I paid 32,250 and I’m happy because I’ve been hearing horror stories man. This is why I believe a lot of dealers are going to close
I think it was Huntley Ford. I had a horrible experience there personally. Two guys followed me to my vehicle as if they were trying to start a fist fight because I walked out on them. They called 5 times and texted 7 times telling me we were close to a deal, and when I got there, the sales guy didn’t even have the information I gave them over the phone. Worst dealership I have ever set foot in. My advice is Stay away!
Lol dealer could have, how many trucks were on that dealers lot? It was full.of trucks. Gm and dodge same thing. How about the Toyota dealer 5 trucks all sold at sticker price.
Turbo charged Ford engines just don't hold up. Look for a little smoke to be getting past the rings when you get into it a little bit by 100k miles. You should have taken advantage of the huge Tesla price decreases & IRA $7,500 rebate...or simply waited for the STAINLESS STEEL CyberTruck, which would have turned out to be the last truck of your lifetime.
Your reluctance to name the Illinois dealership is disconcerting. Truth is an “ absolute” defense in any defamation action, libel ( written) or slander ( oral). If what you’re saying is true and I believe it is, then there’s no way they could win a defamation action against you.
@@henrynlouisville1 If what he says is true, and I do believe him, why would he even need a defense lawyer as Truth is an absolute defense in any defamation action.
@@alexnutcasio936 Because dealers will waste your time by taking you to court and they have more money and time to battle it out in the legal system that I do. I left multiple written reviews all over the internet.
Why always blame Mexico about Ford quality problems. I have owned several Ford vehicles built here and have misalignment panels too, or big gaps between doors in one side and too narrow on the other side. Even bolts not tighten. So no blame Mexico. Blame your decision on buying Fords.
Ford went woke with EV's, probably gonna go broke. I was told I would have to wait 7 months just to get into the next order window, then who knows how long to wait. Telling a custom that wants to buy one of your trucks no chance for maybe a year isn't the way to keep customers you've had for decades now. Ford is failing.
These things are going to age like milk. The undercarriage is made out of unprotected sheet metal, including the suspension components. They skipped the undercoating and you're left with raw steel sheet metal suspension that's gonna rust faster than heck. If they had gone with cast aluminum suspension arms and such it wouldn't be so bad... but it is clear they cut corners everywhere. That interior screams I'm made of the cheapest junk available too.
All their positive reviews are so obviously fake. They need to be reported to ford. This is why all car buying should be online set price straight to consumer.
the fact you paid 40k for a fwd "truck" made in mexico makes me laugh bro. I just got a 2018 Ram 1500 4x4 hemi made in Detroit for 15k..... keep throwing away your money zoomer. lol
It won't last 200k miles. I have a 2006 ford explorer with a 4.6 with 175k miles that will outlast the Mexican built ecoboost. Sorry to say there is no quality in Ford.
