I install an auto-stop eliminator kit so that we (hopefully) don't have to press the button every time we drive the car. See how I did it and how well it works!

So I installed this over the weekend to my '22 Wildtrak... very easy, really. I stuck a magnetic light to the brake pedal which helped a LOT in terms of seeing what I was doing. As promised, the ASS is OFF. I found that it does not 'remember' my last setting, but changes the DEFAULT to OFF. I can re-enable as desired, if I ever find a practical need for it (perhaps long waits on the interstate). I've not had any issues or errors since installation... this is a much more elegant solution than pulling dash panels! So glad I found this video. I think it also beats me dorking around with Forscan, too.

Another good video! I am one of the few that actually like the auto stop because I am a wildlife photography that when I am out in the middle of no where, when I stop it is usually to take a picture from the bronco and with the engine off the animals tend to not run off and it also removes the engine vibrations that shake the camera.😊

Clearly a benefit I would not have thought of! 🙂

I view start/stop like a GOAT mode or lockers - it's a tool that can be useful in the right scenarios. I usually turn it off unless I'm approaching traffic or a situation where I know I can benefit using it. Still, I can't bring myself to spend $80+ on something like this when it's a quick flip of the finger to deactivate it...

I get that. It's a lot for such a small change. I switch between driving two vehicles that don't have it, so on the rare occasion that I hop in the Bronco and get to that first stop light and feel the car "die", my stomach does flip-flops thinking it stalled. Maybe I'd get used to that eventually if I drove it more. My wife does a lot of local driving and she thought it was stupid she had to hit that button multiple times on each outing. So, for us it was worth it.

Thanks for this. The one I found was $100. You just saved me $54! Just installed and works perfectly.

I just installed the one you take the panels off for about a month ago. It’s really not that bad. I used the buckle up buttercup video as a guide and it took 15 minutes max.

It actually comes In handy at times for me. I just turn it off as soon as I get in my car. It's just an automatic thing I do unless I know I may need it. My only concern is how bad is it for your car to be turning on and off.

Yes, I wondered about that too. I thought I read that it might shorten the life of your starter?

Will this fit the 23 bronco?

It's insane to me how universally HATED the "feature" is, yet Ford refuses to remove it. Especially when you look at how fucking hot it is getting outside. I live in FL, there's no way in hell I'm sitting with my Bronco off at an intersection for 2 minutes in 120 degree heat.

I believe it is an emissions requirement for manufacturers vs a perceived desired feature

Sorry, no. The harness is designed to be able to be removed. I don't know why yours won't. You might jump on a Bronco forum like bronco6g.com or thebronconation.com and ask there. See if anyone else has done the install and had your problem.

Just use Sport Mode. It disables the Auto-Stop. You can press OK when the vehicle starts up to keep your last drive mode(Sport in this case).

Even simpler is using FORScan to turn it off in the computer. Why bother with hardware when you can simply command the vehicle to turn it off?

I didn't have any issues with ours. The locking tab is in the center of the harness. You should just have to depress it while pulling. If it went in, it should come out. You don't want to force it though.

Thank the government for that nonsense ! They don’t care if you’re constantly replacing starters on your vehicle !
@broncobebop
@broncobebop Год назад
No kidding. I would worry that the starter would fail prematurely if it's constantly being used.

Really? Ours is a 2023. Does it look like the one in the video? Should be a tab thingie you have to squeeze while pulling it out.

I prefer to drive in SPORT MODE - which turns OFF Auto-Stop when in this mode - I need only click OK when I start my Bronco.. :) FREE

Gotta say, didn't realize Autostop was a "bad" thing until I started reading the internet. Maybe I'm different, but this has never bothered me.
