My wife's most requested mod for her new 2023 Ford Bronco was to change the color of the wheel trim rings. In this video, I show you the entire process and also share the cost.

Looks so much better! Those aluminum rings definitely don’t work in my opinion. $350 seems a bit hefty but what isn’t these days? Ford should just paint them black from the factory

Made a HUGE difference. I painted mine with gloss black raptor 1k which is like Bedliner paint. The finish is identical to yours and it’s rock hard. Also my experience taking off the bolts was identical. Accept I torqued mine to 40ft/lbs. Seemed a bit better. And the look is sick.

I had my 5 beauty rings gloss black powder coated for $80.- It was a shop that does gloss black powder coating every week so they didn't need to buy separate powder for my small job and turn around time was less than a week...pretty happy with that. BTW, all 5 of my wheels were silver undernerath the rings (Base 4 door Sasquatch). I used hand tools to "snap" the bolts loose but the screws were a pain to take out. I had to purchase 4 bolts because of stripping and I had to drill out one of my bolts that was severely stripped. Enjoy your content

Thanks for making this video! This was so helpful. Especially which bit to use, the tape trick, and the tip about cleaning off the bolts and the holes. Made for a very smooth process that took less than 2 hours.

Thanks for the video! I got mine back from powder coating this week and just put them on. You made the process a lot easier. I went with gloss black as well. Very happy with the results.

I see your tools listed that would be needed. Can you just use a 3/8 torque wrench with the fittings to torque to the 22lb recommended?

I just got my 24 OBX and want to do this same mod. I'm nervous about stripping or cross threading the bolts. I was planning on sandblasting them myself since I have a sandblasted and a friend will powder coat them if I buy the powder. Thanks for the great video

The bolts are hardened and come off fine. Just manually break them loose then use an impact to buzz them off. That’s what I did.

you actually spent money to make the wheels look worse in my opinion you can’t beat the look of that silver ring on the black wheel. I believe it’s awesome., I took mine off and painted them bright red peelable paint, but it made it look cheap, so I peeled it off and went back to stock. I have a two door sasquatch.

Looks good! I have different set of wheels on my raptor but they are the gen 3 raptor R wheels with beauty ring. Where did you find the instructions on proper installation with torque specs? Been searching and really can't find much. TIA

I bought the black trim rings from ford accessories with a 25% off coupon during their Christmas sale. They came to around $500. I didn’t want to deal with the whole powder coat process. I basically took them off and reinstalled the new ones exactly like you did. However, I used a permatex anti-seize on the treads of the bolts not thread locker. They look so much better in all black. Good job!

I think I would have done the same thing, especially if I had to do it over. I hated waiting. Once I start the project, I want to finish it. 👍🏻

Second using anti-seize on the rings. When you get new rims, it is recommended to take the beauty rings off so the shop cannot scuff them up.

I agree, but I think if she kept a contrasting color like the silver, it would have been a little better if it was paint matched to the cactus grey paint. I think that would have been cool looking and different. 👍🏻

Anyone know how or where I can get a lead on the torx bolts themselves? I know at least one was ground out on the set I bought from marketplace. Should I go to the dealer or are they available through ford online?

Should have talked to me first. Inhave a wildtrak . My rings are black like thr wheel and i hate them. We coukd have traded. Silver does not look bad on your truck. , Im thinking of having mine oainted red to match the truck but i dont know how thats gonna look. Great video

Anthony, are you still looking to trade your all black wildtrack wheels for sas wheels with the silver rings? We just picked ours up yesterday and I have the rings to do this but am fairly nervous after reading the forums. Probably not. I considered using a penetrating oil if I felt the bolts weren't going in ok.

Im new to this all , all my cars have been muscle or race cars my bronco is my first off road , i want to get mine powder coated, can i drive with the bead lock trims off while they car getting painted ?

I asked the same question and did some research on it before I pulled them off. Yes, you can definitely drive it while they're off. They're just decorative "beauty" rings, not actual bead rings.

Can’t you take the beauty rings off and then have an all black rim? What’s the purpose of the beauty ring if you’re painting it black anyway? Just got my bronco so curious.

And that assumes you wheels are all black underneath. Ours were mismatched.

I'm thinking the same thing. I wonder how the screws look, installed wirh out the rings. I'm sorta of a weight freak. If its not needed, why have it. Whats your guess on the weight of each ring? Great video!

You can chase the threads with a bottom tap to clean out the locktite. I like the contrast with silver especially with cactus Gray. I tend to gravitate to mods that add functionality or solve a problem. Aesthetic mods are the lowest priorities. Plus off road they will probably get scratched. Last, I think your wife has too much power in your relationship, you might need to get her in line making you a sandwich.

Running a tap in them is a good idea, but luckily wasn't needed in my situation. 👍🏻 My wife is always making me 🥪🥪🥪 that's why I'm fat! 🙂
