Wow this was very informative. Very in depth. I'm in the process of gathering parts to rebuild my C6.

I have that servo, when I took it out of the box the piston was stuck in the cover and wouldn't come out, after about an hour of being delicate trying to get it apart I had to resort to a vise and 2 prybars to finally get it apart. So after doing some measuring I found the o-ring interference was .045, so I honed the inside of the cover a few thousandths at a time until I was happy with it. Also the large o-ring was about .012 too tight so I machined the groove to an acceptable tolerance. Thanks for the video.

Thats frustrating. I do recommend the Superior Super Servo. I have not seen an issue with those so far.

@@BroaderPerformance that's what wanted but couldn't find anything in stock.

This comment had me scared. I just got a new one as well (last week), but it pulled out very smoothly. It was coated with red grease. Did not take much force at all. So perhaps its not all of them with this issue, or maybe they revised them a little?

@@BroaderPerformance Sonnax and Superior R Code servos for the C6 both have the o-ring. I will be running your C6 auto shift VB and just want to make sure I should be removing the o-ring in my Superior R Code servo? Thanks again for putting your experience and knowledge out here for those of us wanting to learn the art of these antique transmissions. (I posted this on the C4 servo video as well)

That sonnax servo caused me many problems in several transmissions a few years ago. Will only use the Superior one now.

Thanks for sharing your experience with these. I had good luck with them but I can definitely see the potential problems.

Thank you!! Great video and appreciate your knowledge about the 2 springs because it definitely had me thinking. Pretty sure I installed the heavy one though

I always go for the heavier one.

Great Info. I have read the comments out on the interwebs that you speak of in this video. Clarifies it for me. I am an engineer, so it all makes sense.

Jay, you should do a video on the difference in the servo bores from the early cases to the new. The Sonnax servo won't fit the stepped bore cases.

Good suggestion. I forgot about that. I actually used to make an R servo for those old cases about 20 years ago. Wasn't a big seller so I never bothered to make them again.
