My '97 F250 HD, 351W/E40D was county owned/maintained, has 331K miles and is in similar condition as the one you worked on (that is, it shudders a bit when climbing hills in OD and needs a tranny flush). So your video was exactly what I wanted to watch (and enjoy). Great job -- thanks.
Has this truck had regular maintenance on the tranny ? I want to do mine but nervous it will start slipping since I don’t know it’s maintenance records
From my understanding it did have regular maintenance. The owner bought it used from the original owner but long before I worked on it. He told him he tried to keep up on everything.
My gasket is leaking in the same area is why I'm doing it. How do you know which fluid to put in? I grabbed acdelco type 3 off rockauto i believe but there were more types listed there
@@operationoverhaul It's a 1995. I got the filter on pan on, now i have people telling me to drain the torque converter but I don't know how to do that
@greenbassboosts8872 there is a couple ways to do it. 1) take to a shop and let the use a trans machine to flush it or you can disconnect the cooler lines, then put the out going line in an empty bucket and then put the suction line in a clean bucket with new fluid and crank it. When the fluid comes out bright red like new fluid then you have basically done a compete flush of the entire transmission.
