Ford Eco Sport and Mahindra XUV300; one is a veteran, the other is the newest kid on the block in the increasingly competitive sub-compact SUV market. Both of them are offered with ample creature comforts, safety provisions, and gadgetry. We took their diesel models out to see if we could find a definite winner between them. Why the diesel models? To be honest, because the petrol variants weren't available at the time of the shoot.

I am really confused between the Ecosport Titanium + and Nexon XZS. A lot of highway munching to be done and sunroof is a requirement. I am okay with the space in the Ecosport. How big of an issue is the clutch of the Ecosport (read loads of reviews that it gets very stiff very quickly)?

@@samikg76 Ford fan and owner here.. same thought only until I test drove the XUV.. 2 months, still can't pick between the 2.. honestly, I feel ecosport more bouncy and unsteady compared to XUV at speeds.. not the case with XUV.. if XUV had the same steering feel and response as Ford's brilliant steering, it wins hands down to me.. i hate the XUV's lackluster steering and I can't decide if I want the steering and chuckability of Eco or the stable straight line stability of XUV.. bottom line: try the XUV before you write it off

@@cannotthinkofoneatth I will try out (test drive) the XUV based on your recommendation :). However, are you referring to the Ecosports hard suspension as bouncy? The hard suspension actually gives high speed stability. The S version has low profile tyres which also helps in reducing body roll. But, it comes at a price - on bad roads, it does give the bumpy ride feeling. In good roads, it just glides - 80-90 kmph feels like 40 kmph. I have taken it to 140 kmph (max) and did not feel unsafe or not in control.

@@samikg76 good, not saying Eco is bad but disappointed by the fact that many don't give XUV a chance.. I love my Ford man.. it's such a wonderful car.. have subjected it to so much abuse and hardship but never broke down on me.. it has less power but more heart to fight expensive cars should there be a need to race.. I wish there was that one Ford between Eco and Endeavour.. but alas.. XUV feels stable for sure but you know because of that straight line stability it feels less eager to turn.. it's a competent product if you overlook the lower centre console and the small boot (which most enthusiasts do overlook).. Eco is like a cat around corner whole XUV is like a dog.. but on straights XUV feels like a lion while Eco feels like a ummm a younger lion!

Driving pleasures with xuv300 is too good . I don’t know why he is again and again claims that Eco sport is better fyn to drive ? 300 torque Vs 210 ?

Driving Experience is a very detailed thing. The Dynamics of the car. How the motor pull. Low end Grunt. How well the turbo lag is contained. Is power delivery linear. How punchy is the engine. How great is steering wheel. How well contained is body roll. How is the suspension etc etc. Torque is very important components when comes to power delivery but it something which is very raw. Driving factors are made of all things and Ford is the King of cars.

@@dasher5320 ford ecosport diesel and petrol both start picking up initially , xuv 300 has turbo lag ,also even creta is behind eco in case of handling This csuv segment is made by ford .

Everyone knows that ecosport is the most value for money in its segment...xuv300 is good but poor ground clearance n luggage space makes it less practical

Tata Nexon is a brilliant car for all terrain. Tata has solid build quality and overall drivability of the car is awsome. Although there is a bit of turbolag lower down. But Still when it comes to overall dynamics. Tata Nexon is a clear winner.

I have test driven both, and fell ecosport is a thrill to drive whereas luxury feel is in xuv and at same time drive is also good. I'm confused.!!!! I'm looking for a driver's car ,i.e; pure driving pleasure and dynamics.

same boat man.. these guys say Eco is fun to drive but honestly I felt XUV a lot better product if not for the amazing steering that Ford provides.. Ford was literally bouncing up and down while XUV held steady.. 2 maheene ho gaye, can't decide between the 2.. I think Eco is a safer bet though

Sir... Didn't expect this kind of bias from you.... In boot space where xuv 300 seriously questioned in market you summed up in less than 1 second. 6 years after lunch the segment itself Ecosport in being compared with brand new addition.... Doesn't it tell the excellence this car has??

A car with a boot smaller than ladies handbag really shouldn't be called practical. Also, why wasn't the EcoSport S tested which is far better equipped?

@Hrishi Xuv has a better mid range in its diesel but that is it. For drivability the ecosport beats it easily, especially in the city. Then you've conveniently ignored the handling, in which the xuv doesn't even come close and its steering feel is rubbish. Also safety, how is the XUV better and "gets all the safety stuff"? Both have an equivalent level of safety kit, with an added advantage to the ecosport because of its handling stability. Space, yes the Xuv is wider, but its seats have terrible under thigh support, which shows its effect in longer drives, unless you happen to be very short. Tech and features - no I DON'T know that ecosport is anywhere near. You can't just make statements out of thin air and claim it as a fact. As for the looks, I'm not going to be immature and pretend the xuv is an ugly car, because I think its quite decent looking, but it has a few design flaws which bother me and other people I know: It's stance isn't the best, it's rear looks too squashed, especially from the rear 3 quarters - it looks more like an enlarged swift. As for the ecosport looking like a kids car, thats your opinion, and thankfully most people don't think along the same lines.

@Hrishi please tell me which number is great 480, or 440? Because the ecosport rear seat length is 480(the ONLY factor in measuring underthigh support) and the Xuv is 440.

EcoSport now has beige interiors, great touch screen , gives you a premium feel while in xuv300 touch screen is really BAD, plastic quality is really tacky , doesn't feel good . While xuv300 is a 5 star rated car in case of safety but doesn't give the SUV feeing. Reviewing it after test driving and riding both the cars . Ps- don't believe the dual zone climate control feature , initially it does work and then automatically after some time it gets equalised.... *Physics*

@@travelworld2738 ultimately bought the ecosport and I am not regretting at all. The 1.5 titanium plus AT version , absolutely love the features and it's fun to drive to. 3 months and no complaints

Xuv300 is a flop car. It's evident in the video thigh support is much better in EcoSport than XUV 300 just watch the video. Buttons n plastic used in XUV 300 does not feel premium at all.

All youtubers are doing the same thing lying on xuv300. Just check the back seat of Xuv300 he was squatting his legs in that and in ecosport his legs were flat still. He says xuv300 is best for back seat. They have just one point features features and features. Motorbeam channel told the truth and they were lashed on for telling it

@Himanshu Chaudhry yes i have driven it. And i know the space is more but the seat is at low height and you are not comfortably sitting on it since you are squatting legs and also I felt the throw of ac air isn't that great for back seat passengers if you set it at auto. You need to keep it at max blower speed to get the air back and at its max speed its too much noisy

@Himanshu Chaudhry 6 feet tall passengers at back will be uncomfortable in both these cars and the space isn't miles more.. Also the front leg space is really tight and you feet feel stuck as all three pedals are really close and no dead pedal

@Himanshu Chaudhry I've driven both of them and ordered xuv300, the big problem you'll see on ecosport is that it is thin as fuck no space to sit in the rear and the other problem is its engine is punchy but no where near the xuv300 1. 5 diesel. Steering feel is soo firkin good on the ecosport and boot too. All other things are just better on the xuv300 more powerful engine more features and more space. Flaws steering and boot

How, compact SUVs requires better ground clearance, otherwise u can go for sedan, also boot space is less in xuv, ecosport is an overall package

Also it is over priced, ecosport is offering hill assist, traction control, keyless entry, bigger engine at the same price where as we are not getting these features in xuv 300 , I knw xuv300 is having all these feature in top model but dats over priced
