Sound's awesome!... Is it true that BMW M5 V10 engine is basically just a "calmer" version of a Formula 1 engine? I've heard someone say this before not sure if it's true or not...
@@ChinFu535 Does almost sound like a 10 though, I can understand the mistaken identity. With its dominant frequencies of a 'major third' like a 5 cyl (and V10 of course) with the 6 cyl's usual 'musical fifth' you commonly get from 6 cyls (either side of that third) creating a distinctive chord. Very unusual & unique since 6 cyls are generally only this musical fifth on its own.
One should watch former Irish Hillclimb Champion Simon Mc Kinley RIP to see how a well tuned Mk2 should be driven around corners. This guy driving should hold his head in shame never squelling the tyres on any corner with all that power and such a wide wheel track on his Escort.
It's quicker that way. It's about speed and not about show.. I truly love the way those old Escorts where thrown around and the video's of Simon McKinley are awesome to watch, he was an awesome driver. But with this car this style of driving is way faster.
This has a heavy 6 cylinder engine at the front, you can not drive it like a old Escort, also that old style rally driving you normally do on gravel is a lot slower on a tarmac race like this.
So all the people who "know enough about them" also "like them"? Sounds about right. So if I just "know enough" about a 1986 Hyundai Excel, I'll like it. So again, I DO know that the MK2s almost always look very stupid and pathetic, especially struggling through hillclimbs. And this one even has a BMW powerplant. It's not a big deal - nostalgia is fine. But the car is definitely irrelevant. Nevertheless, As I CLEARLY stated in my original post, THIS MK2 THOUGH, looks and drives pretty damn good... BECAUSE of the body work. Plus it sounds insane. In other words, it's a cool car precisely BECAUSE it isn't what 90% of all the other MK2s in the world are.
I would rather have this.s50b32 engine(a lil stroked)aprox 400 ish bhp, limited to 9000rpm. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tuxSPXh1vWw.html
@EugVR6 I've read that it's the S38 3.8L inline 6 engine from the E34 M5 not the S85 V10 from the E60 M5. Probably needs 10,000rpm to make that sort of power from that capacity
think this is good??? check this guy out "Simon Mckinley white escort" he show how to properly drive a mk2 with half that horsepower of this guy and totally sideways everywhere...he would destroy this guy on times..trust me if you like Mk2 escort check him out..you will love the video.
+mad4tarmac It's so easy to sideway even with little horsepower. This car uses custom parts and the hardest thing was to combine so much power with no sideway ;). As you can see this car isn't for drift show. This is the difference.
reckon a good rally spec mk2 pushing 300bhp set up for tar would give this mk2 a run for its money...love to see it,track spec vs rally spec on sprint road.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vy8w915Z1Wc.html Watch the second part if you like it. He was probably the best driver you've never heard of, but sadly no longer with us :(
