WATCHED A 100 IF I'VE WATCHED 1, VIDEOS ON FAN/CLUTCH, BELT TENSIONER etc... This i saw just AFTER i messed my bolts up trying myself. Good video, nice, simple, NOT OVER TALKATIVE like most. Geeze for the other guys with long winded video commentations, this is a good example of the correct way to commentate a video DIY.
Good Video. Good explanation. Yea, he might have went past a radiator petcock but he didn't play crappy dub step music in the background! Keep up the good work Mreinsmith!
Good video guys! Now I can see what to look forward to this weekend. Changing my pump to hopefully solve a no heat issue and hoses don't get even close to the temp of 210 or so. Videos help thanks..!
Appreciate the tips I haven't done this in a long time. I was trying to barter some work with my mechanic but they want to charge me an arm and a leg.. really breaks my heart when people try to take advantage of me pisses me off when he's mechanics try to make four hundred bucks an hour
When I didn't do something myself, I went to a gentleman who I've known for 20 years now, someone who I could trust and didn't give me a bunch of BS. He's retiring, now what!?
Forget the tool. Hold the bolts with a strap wrench. Grab a pipe wrench for the fan clutch....one good whack of a hammer towards the passenger side. Never failed me.....a 5'3 girl.
Wasn't impressed that had so much trouble getting fan shroud off. Elaborating on how to remove the fasteners wasn't necessary. The fan shroud comes off very easily without needing to remove the fan. The fan shroud on mine can be disassembled by removing two bolts on the bottom and the lower piece detaches so shroud can be lifted around fan. When he attempted to lift the shroud and fan together gave me a good laugh. Also it lifts out nicely if you disconnect the upper radiator hose from radiator.
Seems harder to replace lower rad hose than water pump. Gotta get that fork tool. 120,000 on '03 5.4 going strong. Every spring Drain & refill 50/50 w distilled helps. NOT TAP WATER
if I am remembering correctly 05 was the last year for that version of the 5.4, so it should be the same, do a quick search on ford triton 5.4 engine to verify
As a driveway mechanic, one thing I've learned over the years is that you definitely need to read the manual BUT you also need to peruse forums and videos for tips like yours. Thanks for the tip, hopefully it saves someone some busted knuckles :-)
