"Is that a glasspack?!? "Yeah how the hell dyou know?" "We use to have those when we were little kids" "Damn right you did" You had me rolling for a minute dude. Nice sounding truck.
When I was 20 I had a 67 chevy pick up w/ a 305 block and double hump 327 heads I put a set of 16" Cherry Bomb glasspacks on it and some old hotrod guy said to drive that dude around get the exhaust really hot and then go to the car wash and spray it out. The rapid cool down cracks the guts up and makes it sound better and louder. I would drive around in low and romp it and you could here that thing crackle all the way across town. I loved those things!
I have an 07 F150 FX4. I am putting in the same length glass pack, I still have to get couplers, but I wonder, did you put any high temp sealants before clamping the couplers down?
I'm putting a glass pack on my truck soon enough! I had it straight piped til the flex pipe broke and now I'm left with a half broken pipe under my truck! Thanks though, and it doesn't hurt your pretty cute! Haha
You did a good job !!!! I just got my 69 250 on the road hasn't hit pavement in 15/18 years the previous owner has Midas shocks and mufflers put on some time in mid 70s they are at least 1 ft longer than your stock ones huge tractor mufflers killing my 390 your ride did not sound bad without mufflers
the classic start up after the mufflers off XD did the same with my gmc sounds good :D they do burn out like you put though mines pretty much straightpiped now
i would have too, but the glasspack will get louder over time when the fiberglass gets burnt up and blown out. and i'm sure the truck will be annoying after awhile with it that loud. might take it off one day and straight pipe it one day and see how it sounds.
Take that resonator off and it will breathe more freely and you will have the raw power sound!! Believe me, it's worth it. I got a 26 inch Cherry bomb along with the resonator delete for my 16 5.0... it was so worth it. FORDS RULE!!!
Hey I've got a 2003 f150 harley dave...I want to delete the cats and take out the muffler and use a glass pack. I may delete the resinator too. Will that work?
Do glasspack increase free flow n performance . I have.on installed in my pickup n It works wonderful . Better acceleration. I put a tip to muffle d sound a lil lower n deeper
how long is the glass pack and how long was your original muffler? Would i be able to use just clamps to replace a 25" muffler with a 25" glass pack or do need extensions?
so you got a 2 1/4 glass pack what size adapter did you need i have a 2007 ford f150 5.4 triton v8 2.5 in pipe just like yours here. i cant weld so what would i need. thanks
Jesus Aguirre use about 7 speed on max and weld in circles in a dime pattern back and fourth, gives a nice clean bead without mucking it up and burnin through.
Nice! Was debating if I should do this on my 08 FX4. My concern was the offset on the muffler (inlet vs outlet) but it seems like you got it to line up no problems. Stock pipe is 2.5? I figured I would get some kind of universal hanger to rig it back up to the hanger, even though the glasspack has to be a LOT lighter then that stock muffler. sounds good man!
Blah..just saw you have the older body style truck...not sure how different your offset is then mine. I guess once the snow thaws im gonna hafta crawl under there.
Can I do this with out a Sawzall or welder? like, just a hacksaw and clamps? and do the clamps come with the glasspack? also, with the same idea process work for a 94?
That sounds amazing. My buddy put a Thrush Glasspack on his Silverado and it sounds amazing. I have a Dodge Dakota 4.8 V8, this is going to sound dope.
They don't sound too bad. I straight piped it (cat back) a few months after the video. Sounded good. The 5.4s don't sound great without cats in my opinion.
I have had 3 1977, the 400m was a beast, also had the same setup with my 1978,they were all F-150 except a 77 was Bronco,302,3 on the tree.My favorite years of Ford truck.Restoring exhaust manifold and entire exhaust system 1997 single cab short bed 4x4.
Be honest with you, man. I’d just put a piece of straight pipe in place of the muffler delete, and leave it at that. I’ve never heard such a good exhaust note👍
Have any of yall heard of people putting a tach into a truck without one? I've got a 95 ford f150 xl 4.9l inline six. Wanna get a tach put into it. Unsure of how to do that. Any help
Johnny May I put a cluster with a tach in my 90 f150 xlt lariat 4.9. Just find a truck with a tach and hook it up the connections are there just the cluster needs to be replaced.
+Ben Dayho You must not know how rust works. Surface rust is harmless because it only affects the outer layer and won't weaken the metal. True rust is basically car cancer, which he doesn't have.
nicce!!! bout to put duals on my silverado!! Im gonna weld mine thou.. i dont like clamps..good looking truck its come a long way! hurry up and put a system in it lol.
well if yours is california compliant model like mine it will sound the same, if not it will be louder since the CA models have an added catalytic converter.
Karlee Rae, I had a 96 Eddie Bauer F150 with a 302. I punched the back cat and welded on a 3 inch straight pipe. it sounded good. Though it seemed like more power and slightly better gas mileage, it really wasn't until I added cold air intake.
+r u mad yet Yes? Was that a chirp? A 302 is super bottle-necked with a single 2 1/4 exhuast, you obviously dont know anything about 302's. A glasspack doesnt flow more than the pipes it's connected to you twit. Of course it flows more than the old muffller.
MagZup07nope I'm pretty sure the Ford engineers understand how much restriction to put on their vehicle's exhaust. If anything, the glasspack will flow better than stock. No, it won't flow as good as straight pipes or a larger diameter glasspack, but it's still better than stock. And please, explain how a 302 is bottle-necked, because I'm pretty sure that the guys who went to engineering school to design the Triton engines know their shit.
Yea, are you aware of what the smog era was? Seriously man, why do you think higher performance n/a vehicles have larger exhausts, or why they put duals on stock mustangs? Also, you must not have actual expereince when it comes to this because putting duals on a completely stock engine you can get upwards of 20hp. now how is that not bottlenecked? Look it up its on almost every 302 mustang /bronco/truck forum out there. Your literally just talking out of your ass
actually it's good for it. on a gas engine you need back pressure or you'll lose low end torque. too wide of a pipe diameter and you will lose all ur power. the more velocity the exhaust gases have. the better the engine will breathe. maybe you should learn something about how exhaust works before you act like you know what you're talking about
