Now that the F250 steering knuckle is off it is time to get the ball joints pressed out, the new ones pressed in and get it reinstalled back on the axle. Let's see what can go wrong here.... -Enjoy!

😆🙄I'm such a dork. I spent my afternoon trying to press those ball joints in the wrong direction...Oh boy...came back to verify I was pressing them "out" in the "correct" direction after wasting 4 hours going in the WRONG direction. Grateful for these tutorials. You know who to call if you ever need these dang-gum ball joints pressed out again.

I know it’s messy but I usually put some anti seize in the bore before pressing the new joint in. It just takes the work load off of the press threads and yes, I usually get it all over the place before I get done.

Hey there Eric... At time index 4:23 where you were seeing if the press bolt would run along side, What you actually do is run the press bolt through the hole of the lower ball joint to press in the upper ball joint first.

Hey Eric that press bolt side fits in the bottom opening of that knuckle. so the top ball joint comes out withe press in the same direction. just put the bolt in the hole where the bottom joint came out

For the upper ball joint, you can remove it by unthreading the rod completely from the press then thread it again from the lower ball joint hole. Learned from another youtuber years ago. :D

Ah, the short C clamp when removing/installing a ball joint dilemma..... I almost shot coffee out of my nose when watching this when you said you've dropped the pieces a million times. I did just on one stupid ball joint on my '64 C10 this past weekend. Ah.....colorful metaphors such as Golly, gee and gosh darn. You should teach auto shop. But then we'd have to attend as they may not let you make video's. Thanks for the links for tools you use (and Astro) I may find some tools to get from Astro, such as a longer C clamp perhaps??? I usually put the ball-joint press itself in the vice vertically, a few of the pressing adapters will sit in place then, then hold the knuckle balanced and upper press pieces will more or less "sit" there also. with large steel truck knuckles , it doesn't always fit/work out ;)

Good video. I will suggest that after the nuts are tight on the ball joints, simply use a good hammer and hit the housing of each ball joint. They will align and you will be good. Just like one would do will U-Joints. Thank you. Larry

Just found myself yelling at the screen..... Thread the forcing screw through the lower ball joint hole while pressing out the upper it's way easier. Those TTX Terrain Tuff ball joints are bad assed, Only ball joints we've found that stand up to plowing duty on those trucks for more than a couple years. Got some some pushing five years now in a couple trucks that are still as tight as the day they went in.

I realize this was 5 years ago. Hopefully, you've figured out by now that, after you remove the bottom ball joint from the knuckle, you can run the threaded shaft of the ball joint press through the bottom ball joint hole to get the top one out. You just have to remember to put the top one back in first so you can do the same thing when pressing them in. It's much easier that way and doesn't require stacking the collars to press them out or in. Even if you've figured that out, I thought somebody else might be able to use that info.

This was helpful. My 2k F-250 is wandering but BJs are not sloppy, makes me think they are too tight as you mentioned here. I am changing them (they had 250k on originals) and put in Moogs. First one was too tight with factory camber sleeve. Got an SPC sleeve and that gave it some more room and now I can move it with 2 fingers. Had I not seen your mistake I would have thought new ones are just tight.

Watching you dip your fingers in that grease gave me a flashback nightmare of my first prostate exam when I turned 40. The only only good thing to come out of Obamacare was that they changed the standard prostate exam from starting at age 40 to age 50 so that has given me a reprieve for a few years but next year I'll get violated once again. :(

After a low blood sugar event, when you get your blood sugar back to the normal range you might experience a feeling of being tired, not thinking properly, feeling a tad bit confused, etc as the effects on the brain last much longer and are more noticeable. This is a sign you need to avoid further events by keeping some glucose tablets from the drug store handy. One or two when you begin to notice that feeling and begin to shake generally will suffice.
