despite negative comments, my guess is they probably have never worked on or even troubleshooted a vehicle in their entire life. good video and i had the same problem on my truck, a good mechanic finds the problem and fixes it, no matter how long it takes. good video thanks.....

what exactly was your symptoms? would it run for days and then die, and just crank and then after 20 minutes start?

We had taken this truck to several shops and dealer. I was a truck we were going to sell. Due the problems we did not sell and still own it.

have a question I have a 2005 f150 5.4 and my problem is that my my fuel lines don't stay pressure up when I try to turn on truck. so it stalls and I have to try it like 3 times n turns on. they have checked it and there's pressure once on but when I turn it off slowly starts losing pressure what could it be. have changed fuel pump, rail sensor and the one by tank. need help

wow someone threw alot of parts at that truck...smh and not cheep ones eather.. very expensive guess work...but oh well it works now.. we all been there before, lesson learned.

Wrong ! Steve needs to learn things that are positive. Your comment is negative. Great documentation only shows he did not follow how a good mechanic follows a flow chart of diagnosis. Figures your name is Eddy, that was my brother's name and he replaced all kinds of stuff when things got the bugs. LOL.

eddyandandrew success was eventual but not cost effective start with the weakest link in the system, which is the most practical, the cheapest and easiest, in 99% of all electronic issues, then test for function, then for correct operation, rarely is it a pump, unless the tank was contaminated with an obstructive agent

Spent a thousand dollars to not correct a 50¢ issue, parts can’t function without being properly connected, thats why competent techs do whats called “Troubleshooting” I know about three competent techs. Maybe four.the rest are parts installers, keep on installing until it works, why bother to understand the integral functions of system when you can blow tons of money and still stare at an immobile automobile!? Rule #1 thumb, Ford electronic components fail due to wiring, most commonly a lost or faulty ground , secondly a rub through causing a short to ground, thirdly, a failed continuity at the connectors or component terminals

My 2009 f150 did the same thing. i just had a burned relay. If you have the same problem its under the hood #27 i think 20A

Just a heads up we never sold that truck. We still have it and are using it for parts. We did not get it to the point we would sell it and feel good about it.

Too easy to criticize these guys for making a mistake---it takes a lot of balls to admit it so publicly---kudos for that! I'd also bet most all these snarky comments come from those who've done this exact same thing, at least those of us who aren't full-time or professional mechanics.

Thanks jwa718, if you look we had taken this truck to 3 places to make the repair. I was fed up with the same answer, the truck has a wiring issue and we did not find it. That is when we decide to take the truck apart and find out what was wrong and fix it. It was past the money for me. I wanted to know what the problem was.

I got the same truck even same color! haven't driven it since the day I bought it. Got it home and it wouldn't run again. I changed out the fuel driver module, fuel filter, and fuel pressure sensor. was getting ready to go after the fuel pump and I realized the bolts on the bed was not all the way in and two of the bolts were not factory. I'm pretty sure the previous owner already replaced the fuel pump. I'm going to try to check out the wiring now.

I have a 2005 f250 if I manually power the pump it runs , I changed the FPDM because it looked awful truck still won't start .. I did check the reset switch it was fine .. Now if I hook up my scanner and go to functions , I go to command fuel pump duty cycle I can't change the speed 10 % at a time.. It will only allow me to doing the pump at 40% then I try 50% and the pump shuts down and starts bumping and jerking , until I command it back to 40% . Oh and when I do this and it spins at 40% the truck will fire up for about 4 seconds ..

Can anyone please tell me were is the fuel pump control module located on a 2007 ford Expedition SUB It is not under wheel well were the ford F-150 pick up is I have change the fuel pump in the gas tank and the truck still run and shut off from no fuel

I spent lot of time trying to resolve a power loss problem. The great discovery was that my old 80s vintage F250 had both a low pressure fuel pump inside the tanks, but also an external high pressure fuel pump which only activates for little tasks like maintaining highway speed or climbing hills. That high pressure pump was dead as a door nail.

My truck is exactly like yours but on mine it won't start like I turn the key and it sounds like its going to turn on but it doesn't I think its a bad wire

What where the symtoms for this truck? I have also replaced fuel pump, pressure sensor, and control moduel. My truck looses fuel pressure when in drive or reverse and starts too stall

Sounds like my F150. Change the PCM, sensor, and FPDM. New FPDM was defective. Change plugs and replaced bad coils. Pulled fuel line before filter and fuel came out when cranked. Hooked everything back up. Still not running. I think it maybe air locked. So I will try pulling the sensor out to let air out when cranking the motor. The fuel system is a returnless system, so I am thinking it may need to be bled like a diesel to prime the fuel system.

Thanks for the Heads up on this issue , I replaced the fuel pump driver module , 2 days ago & had the same issue ? I jumped that box plug this morning & so far my work truck is running normal again . Easy fix ... Thanks again .

Holy crap , you guys need a good mechanic . If you had followed the flow sheet verbatim you would have found high resistance in that wire . Also never use scotchlocks , they are for installing radios . Solder in butt connectors and shrink tube it, obviously you guys don't know how to change terminals. Your repair will corrode in a week . 3000 dollars for a bad connection , stick with seat repair .

if you would of listened he did say the scotch locks was for diagnosing it. they are going to remove the jumper wire and solder and heat shrink in a new one

Brian lmao.im having problems with my f150 after overhauled engine.when I turn the key I don't hear the fuel pump prime.i only hear a click under dash.could that be fuel pump relay

there a gas valve by the front tank that switch it to the tank there a o ring that bad

Exactly why I don’t take my vehicles to a place like this. You’ll pay for every part that wasn’t needed. And it was a ground issue.

I am sure how to take you post. You are right we paid the 3 placed we took it and the truck did not get fixed. I decided to do thid in house after we had 3 people work on the truck and we did get it fixed. We still have the truch and it is not for sale due to the wiring issue. We will part out this truck.

i got a 92 f150 single tank .i the pump whent bad cause of rust in the tank so i got a plastic tank and a new pump ,but i go to plug it in and the trucks plug is geting 8 volts and 6volts constent ,no 3 second burst ,pulled the relay ,still getting constent power ,,help?

Yes when the shop wired the truck fuel pump where it did not adjust the volume. The truck ran rich and missed then.

Wyatt Hix That is what this truck turned into, we had taken this truck to 2 shops and a dealership with the same issue returning. We got tired of paying for the same outcome. That is when we decided to replace parts until the truck was fixed. The truck has several thousand miles on it since we have put it back together. Thank for the support and warm encouragement.

sounds like you did it the hard way. Did you try Fuel Pump reset switch? Seen other people rewiring because they didn't know this switch exists. easyautodiagnostics.com/ford/4.9L-5.0L-5.8L/fuel-pump-relay-tests-2
