With thanks to TC Harrison Ford, I got my hands on the Fiesta Active for 48 hours to see what I really think on the little car. If you’d like to have a drive yourself, then check the link below.

A key feature of the Active models is the flush mounted roof rail. If you plan to carry bikes, skies or anything else on the roof then the rails make mounting and removing a roofrack really easy. Miles better than a regular Fiesta...

I had the 125PS ecoboost engine in my Fiesta. It was surprisingly nippy. Like you, I don't really get the "Active" part. Interior is much better though. Wish they could have made the touchscreen look a bit more integral but looks a nice system. Very slick video Gary. Nice one mate.

I got one of these as a courtesy car for a few days while they add the coolant sensor mods (safety recall) to my Mk7 ST. I think they gave me the 100PS version. I like the look of it and the interior. Tempted to look at the Mk8 ST now! Cheers.

I think these active ones look the best of the bunch. Gives the fiesta great character I really like it and like you say nice to drive comfy and a great daily. I think it's spot on and is worth the extra money over the bog standard fiesta of which you will see thousands. Great review could be a ford salesman lol

Those plates are not only for styling, it's also protection of suspension / bottom of the car, Active is for gravel roads etc.

Subscribed great review seems like a comfortable refined car that soaks up the potholes well what more could you ask for.

The active will appeal to 50 something year olds and above. A slightly higher seat is always welcome,along with a small body and plastic seems less offensive to catch and scratch than painted metal.

I have ordered a 125hp Active with all the options, including the sunroof & LED headlights, but excluding the driver's assist packs (which I am old enough not to need) and paid £17,150 turnkey. Generous discounts ARE out there!

Just helped friend buy one of these today. Super pokey car, very comfortable ride on bumpy roads thanks to upgraded suspension and larger wheels. Real average milage reported by owners on Honest John website is 42 mpg. Lovely interior, but black roof lining makes car appear small when inside. Sun roof would open it up although roof rails would have to go and you'd lose a bit of head space in rear. Small rear window makes it feel a bit claustrophobic. Handles very well. Extra height means you don't feel like you're in a low sports car. Colour is gold, but flagged as yellow. Personally an aquired taste. Splashes of same colour work well on the interior though. Great sterio system if you don't mind sub-whoofer taking place of spare tyre!

Took delivery of Mk8 ST-line this morning. Such a nice car to drive. I'm knocking on a bit now but it does take me back a little. I started out with a supersport and moved on to various Mk1 XR's then XR2's. Ford have done a great job with the MK8 though, it's a good looking car. Quick for a 3 cylinder 140. Would leave my old marks standing.

I chose the ST-Line too. I'm getting the 125ps version next week. I also have a long Ford history (going back to 1981). I've driven the Active 125ps, but if I was in the market for this kind of car, I think I would rather save the money and get a Zetec with a few extras.

I really don't like the vertical front and rear fog lamps. They are totally at odds with the horizontal main light clusters. There's also a very limited choice of colours on all new Fiestas

The active would benefit me from being abit higher, hubby has a normal fiesta and it's awkward for me with back pain getting in & out, I'm considering the active for when I replace my Yaris as I don't like the new Yaris now it's lower than my 2016 one, so it maybe a 20-22reg active for me, I've loved my Toyota such a shame they've altered the Yaris so much, and an Aygo or Yaris cross is not for me, this would solve some of my pain without losing performance or going for an expensive suv I wouldn't benefit from.

Good video Gary; I pretty much agree with everything you said, and I'm glad your car also had 'grabby' brakes as that was one of the first things I noticed when I was moving in slow moving traffic. Overall, I think it's a great car, but I wonder how well it will sell. Ford forecasts that 15% of buyers will go for the Active, and if you consider how many Fiestas are bought in the UK, that could be a fair number.
@brianiswrong
@brianiswrong 4 года назад
Just found this channel and we are looking at adding a fiesta active to replace or 13 plate fiesta titanium. As for grabby brakes,my company car a 19plate focus estate also suffers from this,every day at some stage it catches me out ,and I have done 17'000 miles in it in less than a year,so it's not as if Iam new to it.

I'm not convinced by it don't see the point in it maybe if it did have a bit of off road ability. They do seem to be selling well as I have seen quite alot on the road by me. Another good informative review though.

I was about to ask whether those are really only 17" wheels, given that looking at them (at around 2:29) the tyres look pretty thin. But I can see 'R17' on the tyre wall. Was thinking of leasing an Active X, but that has 18"-ers - not sure how those would cope with Wiltshire roads...

This colour is going to the St next year what your thoughts on it?
@athollmcnicoll256

Well I've had mine for almost a year but my gearbox is an automatic and I can truthfully say its pretty frugal out and about but in town, think Petrol pricing, where is the cheapest I can refill and I have a 100 PSi which s fast enough for me and surprises a lot of would be boy racers who pass me , then a 1/4 miles down the road find me tucked on the rear mirrors. So overall 'd say it's a great car.

On my short list. Test driven the Puma, Juke and Countryman. Nothing grabbing me at the moment so thought I would revisit the Puma again and saw the Active in the showroom and thought why not! Would go for 1L 125bhp auto.

I’ve never been a fan of this ‘cover it in plastic and call it an active’ car thing that started a few years ago... but this was a good review. I’m sure there is a market for them somewhere 😂

I have an active 1, the biggest annoyance for me on the car is those big alloy wheels. Why make a crossover version for multiple terrain, then put big chelsea wheels on it, my brothers house is up a long rutted bumpy farm track, those wheels make the task very difficult without cracking the alloys or punctures. The price range runs very close to the starting price of an ST - I would advise people to just go for the ST.

The new Focus has a one as an option as well, to me it transforms the cabin, there's so much more light. Have you pushed the dealer to loan you an ST? I've had a quick go of one & they're a bit special
