Performance Edition all day, but I have got one. Never actually intended to get one, was originally after a ST3, but got a crazy good price and considering it comes with coilovers, it fit the bill much better as I will no doubt put it on a track at least once during my ownership

Personally if I was modding I would usually start with the ST2 with the performance pack and work from there. It then frees up extra funds and your not really missing out on all that much from not going to 3. The seats in the 3 are nice but my ST2 ones are just fine and the led lights are also nice but I’ve just upgraded the bulbs on my ST2 so they are also very good. Haven’t gone revo yet but that’s down the line. I get why people go for the st3 but for me I’d rather just like the mk7 stick with the ST2 and do what you want from there 👍

Really nice to see a comparisson between these two. Although we don't get the Performance Edition here in the Netherlands, the coilovers and the wheels are available as an option. So besides the color, you could spec it the same way.

Superb video Johnny. Think it's pretty obvious you're going to be the next Jeremy Clarkson as you've got the talent wen it comes to the ole' presenting... U suit it, u should persue it... Anyway enough career advice, about the cars... I'd have the performance edition simply because I love the colour & the alloys... I drive a 2018 Ford Fiesta St line 1.0 ecoboost 100ps & I love it because its gt enough power for me, it handles like it's glued to the road, the steering is epic... Combined with a great chassis you've gt the perfect car...think it also looks fantastic. You're car is also very impressive, love the colour & the panoramic roof, you're car is more elegantly understated than the orange car. Anyway good luck with things & hopefully they'll be more videos soon. Also wot do u think of the new peugeot 208... Thinking this could b my new car... Allure model 130bhp auto in yellow or grey is my favourite. Cheers Dave.

Love my Performance edition. The factory coil overs offer a much better ride than the ST3 had that I test drove. I think the Performance offers the right combo of parts for a petrolhead without having any risk of voiding warranties for the first buyer. Thats what really got me into it over the ST3. I also suspect it will hold a slightly better resale value should I choose to sell it.

just looking back at your vids, i can totally see why you would want to get the pan roof, compared to the orange one, its much lighter inside although i do worry about sunroofs in case they leak.

@@JBCTR Not really sure, I think so? I was never a car guy until I began researching this-- as it was my first new car purchase. I would have never thought I would enjoy driving as much as I do now. I always find an excuse to drive my car around.

I’m just glad I got rid of my ST Mk8 and got the Mk4 Focus ST. Much more room and better build quality. Got a Dreamscience map at 330bhp and couldn’t be happier now.

Hi, great video as always. As you have owned a mk7, and driven mk8 standard, lowered, and with coil overs (PE) would you say any of the upgrades give the mk8 that raw handling feel of the mk7, which in my opinion the mk8 is slightly missing. I've owned a mk7 now mk8 with LSD, so looking for advice. Thanks

Bought one before christmas great price at 23 k, i have done two track days which have knackered the rear tyres and the front discs. Apart from that an amazing car.

@@JBCTR love watching your videos. For now the only mod I will do is the front disks and pads. I will wait a wee bit longer before the exhaust and chip. I did play around with the PEs adjustable suspension improved the track but ended up making it worse on the road. So returned it to stock. I have a few supercars but the ST is the most fun

I think the Performance alloys would look great with the magnetic grey of the JB CTR, and the gold tint of your vinyl wrap might work with the Deep Orange of the Performance. How about a wheel swap video?

Interesting video JB I have previously owned several focus st3’s and was looking at the new st but the price was way to expensive, recently in the ford dealership and had seen the fiesta st performance edition and just had to have it what a fantastic car from handling performance and economical to run. But I think what sold it to me was the colour and those wheels. Thanks.

Hey Johnny, i may be being picky but the glass roof weighs a fair bit more than the tin roof on that orange model, I went for The ST2 as alcantara seats don't age well, i had them in my MK1 focus RS and they bobbled up over time (this was my main reason for having the ST2 over the ST3. too many gizmo's on ST3 which ain't necessary for me, my car is a similar spec modded wise to yours apart from my Fifteen 52 Chicane alloys which are a similar weight to the Ford Performance alloys, keep up the channel.

Manny Singh Nope no issues for me. A few people have reported rubbing on the cables to the valve controller, but that’s largely from incorrect installation. I did a video on the exhaust installation, if you’ve not seen it.

Which one is cheaper to insure,modding your own can be difficult to insure when your insurer wants the modded cars performance out put (assuming you will be declaring the mods)?

Terry C Insurance is difficult as it varies massively from person to person. However as it is of interest, I just did a quote for myself on a comparison website for the performance edition. It’s £8 per year cheaper to insure than my modified car. If you are over 21, and your car is worth less than £30k the modified insurers tend to be very competitive on price and allow you to add modifications free of charge 😁 been with modified insurers for about 6 years now.

The normal fiesta st range needs the orange colour and a few more exciting colours added to the list as at present there boring and even the blue is awful compared to the mk7 blue, it’s the biggest thing holding me back deciding if to buy one just not distinguished enough from st-line, definitely need the Maxton design kit regardless of colour choice

Personally I don't like the performance light weight alloys, and not too keen on the flat orange paint, now if it was a metallic orange may be. But I cannot live with them wheels. Oh and ford do not give any discount and the biggest think was they do not give a ford contribution which they do on the st2 and st3 which was over a grand.

I was lucky having cancelled order and picked my performance edition up for 23k. If it had been full priced I would have probably gone for decent spec st3. But now I have it I love it.. the suspension as you point out seems very good. And the dealer stated it was very noticeable. I love the sound of yours tho.. so I'm going for a miltek with black tips. What would your thoughts on wrapping roof and mirrors be..like carbon fibre finish. Or any other suggestions? Love the channel and your videos come in handy for the mods have undertaken.. CEUK filter and fog lights

@@davidhay9699 my dad got the same as you . It's great car. Just few more upgrades to do.. I've changed ford badges on mine.. black/grey background with ford in orange so matches car.. induction kit. Led fog lights. Just want miltek exhaust and maybe some mudflaps and splitters..

The badges sound smart mate. If ur getting mud flaps, rather than the rally flaps I'd go with the ford 1s,they're more discreet & understated but think they look well better. The carbon fibre roof & mirror wrap sounds cool & I gt the look u r going 4...kinda to break up the orange etc but I wouldn't commit to it unless 100% sure... Personally I would leave it as is simply because I love the orange all over, think it looks epic.

You got a bargain there! I’m looking at a Performance Edition now and trying decide if it’s the one for me. I was thinking it could look good with a roof wrap too, but I think the way to go might be getting a matte colour as close to the wheels and fog light surrounds as possible

@@JBCTR not so much a sneaky price rise as a large percentage of people would have it spec'd with the car however bit snide they've removed the choice a consumer arguably should have. That said if it's not included on the 2 then people are free to choose between variants. Just protects the residual value of the car somewhat and simplifies production at factory

David Misseldine It’s still a sneaky price rise. The cost of the car plus the cost of the ‘optional’ performance pack, should be the same as the cost of the car with the performance pack included. Instead, they’ve now added the performance pack as standard, but it now costs more than the car + option, in the old pricing structure. Net result is the same, but new pricing structure is more expensive. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

@@JBCTR I thought it also came with B&O for a cost differential that was circa 200 less than both as options? IIRC the perf pack was 900 and B&O was 350. What was the cost differential for My20/20.25?

Found my old order form: Base Vehicle Price: unsure of true cost as has discount but approx 22500? Performance Pack: 925 B&O: 450 NEW: 23995 Unsure whether spec differences have come in with intro of ADAP cruise etc which will ultimately lead to change in build cost. It's irrelevant to me however as I've just traded up to a Focus, can't wait! 🙌

For the vast majority of people who are on credit/hire agreement the factory fitted performance edition, as any mods invalidate hire/credit agreements and warranties, and I’ll be honest I call bullshit on how much the upgrades cost, RRP + fitting, undervalued how much he hasn’t spent modding his car

i’m well surprised with the 30-70 times. I have a 2016 Ibiza Cupra (192bhp stock) with a cold air intake and a res and backbox delete and with some chinese budget tires on😅😅😅(mps4 are coming soon) and i get 4.6 seconds 30-70. I think after a remap our cars could be very close in performance! Great vid btw.👍🏼

Thank you for comparing. Your thoughts on corner handling, speed into a corner and out would have been awesome. I've gone from a Golf R 7.5 DSG stage 2 to a 2016 Swift Sport with Coilovers and aftermarket exhaust to have fun all the time. I think my Swift is a good alternative to a ST for fun at any speed. Keep up the great work!
