Could they be talking about stability control on wet roads at highway speeds? I had a half bald right front tire, that didn't match any of the stock Optimo tires on my Fiesta when I got it used, which caused excessive activation of the stabilty control on wet highways. I got fresh Optimos on the front, and the stability control quit activating constantly on a wet highway.
When I first had stab control kick on at 70mph on I-75 one rainey day, with that bald (outside tread) tire up there, it sure took me by surprise. When I saw the stab control dummy light come on a few times in quick succession, at speed, I just slowed to about 60mph, and it basically stopped kicking on. Haven't had it kick on in the rain, since, at 70mph.@@BigBensCarsAndCycles
